    Oko Carbs On Swms

OKO used is a 28mm d slide not flat slide carb,The jetting I used was 52 slow and 112 main but that will vary bike to bike because of differences in wear and tear on motor

    Oko Carbs On Swms

One of the 280 had a new dellorto carb and a full rebuilt motor and there`s no contest . the d slide OKO pulls better than a new Dellorto

    Oko Carbs On Swms

Just finished the istall on third SWM of OKO carb. The bikes were 2 1982 280s and a 1983 240. the 240 had a stock airbox and pipe and the inprovement was huge.bike pulls from idle to full revs with no flat spots. The 280s run tons better with no problems, one stock the other has a modified rear box. Also noticed after first trial the bike used less gas than before.I also am using 2 different size OKOs on one of my xc bikes. It has a 280 rotax motor and for the tight tracks i run a 30 mm carb and its a tractor .On more open tracks I install a 32 mm and it runs down 450 4 strokes.Have to thank Roger at MAVT.org for the carbs and tuning help.
  6. 125 bottom end will bolt in frame. 280 topend will not fit 125 bottom end.125/175 have different topend .280 pipe won`t bolt to 125 topend different size flange .would be simpler to fix 280 motor

  9. i was going to ask you about the ball bearings.older covers didn`t have them, they just let the arm ride up the ramp.i use 80/90 wt. honda gear box oil in all off my bike .no problems in ten years ..just change it went it starts to get milky looking..hope this helps...
  10. some thing is wrong with your bike.i`ve done the arm mod and 4 springs to 6 bikes now and all of them have a easy pull.do you have the right springs???
  11. don`t go to 3 clutch springs it will slip!when you have the clutch cover off to fix the carb boot make the clutch arm inside the cover longer.with a longer arm and 4 springs you `ll have a 1 finger clutch with no slipping..don`t forget to lube the cable...
  12. i`m running 13/38 stock gearing like martin said.if you are stalling out in the sections you must not be using the clutch? most sections i ride in 2nd gear on the 1 line if it`s really tight i`ll use 1st gear.if you go too low on the gear it kills the rideabilty of the bike.learn to use the clutch more in the sections and you`ll be able too slow your speed down when you need to
  13. very nice job jim.guess that you will move up a line now on that schrieber clone..just kidding,i`m putting back together my 79 tl for this season....johnnyb
  14. if it`s in good working order the stock setup works fine.my #1 bike i ride is bone stock and i`ve never needed more power and i`m about 260lbs and ride expert..but if you want to mess around take off the silencer and ride the bike...it`s loud but alot more zap! there`s more power to be found there if you make a different silencer..but don`t ride the bike without one of somekind...
  15. jim, when i redid mine i used packing from fmf that i got at the local bike shop.works fine for me..remember if you build a new silencer make 2...johnnyb

    Rotax 240

the rotax motor is tuff, first thing i`d look at is taking off the head to look into the bore and shape of piston and rings.hope that is why the motor doesn`t turn over and not the main bearings!!...good luck ,but parts are not a problem to find for those motors...johnnyb
  18. when i got my 82 new all it came with were about a dozen typed pages held in a folder...it has the basic specs on the engine, frame and some tuning tips...johnnyb

    New Swm

that bike is a good starting point.i built 2 79 gs bike from alot less! you can get a front end off a late 70`s canam that works and all the plastic you can get in the states from mid west swm..keith has a good amount of new or nos parts..get one more swm back on the track!!!....johnnyb
  21. didn`t that bike have the rotax rotary motor? if so try looking for canam parts,in canada so have lots of canams...johnnyb
  22. don`t know how many miles the tank can cover but our events are 4 hours long and i`ve never ran out off gas, also i`m shipping that sparky on monday...johnnyb
  23. i`m not going to need it,do you want it??...johnnyb
  24. hey cowboy, you aren`t the only one with a "modern" silencer.my riding buddy has the same setup on his jumbo.i kidd him all the time about how it sounds just like a ty yamaha..they made a sparky that fixs the stock set up..it looks like a mini supertrap, mount over the 2 little pipes on the stock silencer.got one from a bike i got from ca...
