  1. Let me know what you do Rockrider and if you think it makes a difference. I might try one myself. Cheers
  2. I'm a fair bit more than that and I've not noticed any problems. titters...... I don't think it's my titters. My ar5e is massive
  3. Sounds like you are maybe living in Scotland and are using an English keyboard. My father in law had the same problem and he's only just over the border. Incidentally he's not too bright either. Oh I'm gonna regret this Sorry OTH - it's revenge for years of abuse by a nasty Scottish woman
  4. The other thing you have to think about is the radiation pattern. If you can imagine it, with most of the routers, the pattern is the shape of a donut. If you imagine the antenna is sticking through the hole of the donut, that's how the signal radiates, so you turn the antenna on its side, and all the signal is going up and down. Next to nothing radiates from either end of the antenna, so you'll have little coverage in those directions.
  5. I'm guessing you're adult age. I've got nothing but good things to say about Sherco really as I've had a stormer. I don't want to sell it because it's too reliable. Probably not what any manufacturer intends these days??? The scare mongerers would say watch the main bearings, but don't see too many with problems. I think it should be OK for you. You may like to add a slow pull throttle just to calm her down a bit. Clean the airbox and drop off the float bowl every week - 15 minute job - well worth it. My starter for ten anyway - no doubt loads with their little bit to chip in hopefully.
  6. Your antenna need to be vertical otherwise you're messing with the horizontal/vertical polarisation and could cause problems with the signal, but maybe you've tried this already?
  7. So that's john's white van with the dodgy roof rack idea, and that's Heaths orange van blocking him in and holding him to randsom for a photo in an Avid Merrion stylee??? I think the original "unaltered" version of the photo tells a tale or two. See below:
  8. Question is then, would you ride it again. I don't think there's a problem with the odd tactical 5 for the lower half of the entry, and I'd concede that for some organisers, they don't have the luxury of making reasonably hard sections without the odd one to give the lower end of the entry something to sweat about (a bit). With all the muddy banks and tree roots of the Vic Brittain this may be the case. Have you ridden other Novogars to compare it with? What about you Gasserboy? Recovering from injury, not sure how you're riding, I reckon you should be under the 60 mark if you had a good ride, and under 80 for a bit of a rough one if it was reasonable?
  9. Shows how good my usual jokes are Ahh well....no there wasn't on in there anyway...sorry
  10. You just made me realise - I've not taken a single decent photograph all year I'm giving it up
  11. Sounds from the marks of the top boys it may have been set at about the right standard? Especially as it's always a muddy one. I would imagine it was pretty deep in places today. What's the general feeling. I would imagine positive, just judging from the top boys marks?
  12. Not sure it's worth buying 802.11n products yet. The existing products are running a draft version at the moment, until the standard goes up for ratification in a few months (I think it's scheduled for May but not too sure on that one). Chances are that if you buy Linksys (owned by Cisco) they will have enough clout to sway the standard their way anyway, but may be worth thinking about. If there are changes, a lot of devices now do their magic in hardware, so there's not always a firmware upgrade available if they do change the standards. 4 months in you could be stuck with a router which is only compatible with your existing wireless cards (in the worst case). You are unlikely to get too much benefit unless your clients are alsio 8.2.11n compatible. I'm not sure whether 802.11n will have the same problem as the upgrade to 802.11g, where if you still had even one 802.11b client using your network, then every one of your devices reverts to "previous slowness" Is there anything you can do with the positioning of your existing router, maybe to tide you over? They sometimes don't like transmitting downwards (just in case you've got it upstairs). And if you've got the luxury to be able to move it around you have to look at the path to all your clients. Walls and ceilings kill it gradually as you go through more of them, but going diagonally through walls can be a total killer. If your router allows an external antenna connection that maybe a cheap upgrade too. Ebay has them all over the place.
  13. Looks like total running time is 56 minutes and 2 seconds. Just watched all of them - great stuff.
  14. If you've got it on CD, you just need to change your Windows media player settings as long as you're on a fairly up to date version of Media Player. I think it needs to be at least version 9 to allow rip to mp3. Is that what you're trying to do? If so, go in to Tools - Options - Rip Music and reselect the format as mp3, then rip it again.
  15. Is it a one off you're after, or for future use? If it's just a one off maybe we can help you out and provide it for you? What is it you're after?
  16. How much over the 12 st are you? Unless you're over 15st I wouldn't even worry about it. I haven't, I'm a fair bit more than that and I've not noticed any problems. Mine's over 3 years old now and still standing up to the abuse.
  17. I think I'm over 18st....using original spring. You might be right though - I dare say I lose a bit of ground clearance through it. Don't know where you can get them, but if you find some I may well give one a try. Wouldn't have to be Sherco by the way, the shockers are used on other bikes too, just in case you're concentrating your search too much. There was one on Ebay a while ago, but I missed it.
  18. The bit about the novice trials riders was, as you probably guessed, a little bit of a lie The two riders are Sam Oliver, now British Champion, and Ben Savage - World Champion. They've now passed the stage where I can even imagine how it's done. Brilliant to watch. On a day where most riders would not have bothered going outside, they spent all day hopping around on rocks that we were struggling to walk on, they really were that slippy. Even they found it easier to ride than to actually try to walk across the rocks. They don't get to the top without working at it, whatever the weather.
  19. Had a bit of a day out with a few novice bike riders today. Got a couple of video's I'll link to once I manage to shove them somewhere, but the odd photo or two. Anybody recognise any of them?
  20. I need the National one really. The Centre one i think we are sorted with, but there are only two National ones, both run at Rugby I think. Cheers anyhow. Gaz
  21. Not sure I agree with the way the press has hammered them. I know we are up for a right royal hammering from the Aussies, but we'd do the same so we can't complain Yep, they've been pretty dismal, but the way they have been slated could almost lead to them being stoned when they land back on English soil. The press should report the news without their slant on it - particularly the publicly fuunded BBC. They're the best we've got to offer, even if they have become whipping boys. I reckon it's gonna get worse for some sports like cricket. When was the last time you saw a bunch of lads playing cricket (except maybe on the beach from time to time)? It just doesn't seem to be played anywhere these days by young 'uns. Some sports are becoming expensive. Kids can't use their school facilities at nights and weekends these days. Squash - I love the sport, but our local leisure centre is being rebuilt soon and they're not bothering to replace the squash courts as they're not financially viable. Council are getting rid of the tennis courts in our local park (which you have to pay steeply for anyway). I'm rambling - I'm frustrated
  22. I'm gonna stop as we're going a bit away from the BTC topic, but obviously I disagree One for another thread maybe. It does seem strange to bring in an experimental year without setting a date to make a decision regarding its success or failure which would allow the new accepted rule to be brought in for the following year? Seems like that decision should have been Aug/Sep time. Maybe the forum failure was to blame???
  23. Not at all However... Non stop is eaisier to observe - I don't think easier than FIM, and i do observe - I observed at Hawkstone this year. Non-stop always very dodgy whether a bike has actually stopped or just compressed the forks, or slid sideways etc etc means sections can return to being more "natural" and less dangerous - If you mark out a good natural section, which doesn't require hopping and stopping, the non-stop doesn't come in to it as much - and I do mark out trials, including Novogar round reduce queues - Yep - maybe, but especially if the sections are marked out so you need to hop around. open up more land for use as trials venues - dunno? Maybe. Not for us really? But I'll go along with that one. require better rider skills like throttle control dynamic balance coordination etc Hmmm....you can sing about how good Dave Thorpe and Mick Andrews are, but even given the advances in machinery, todays boys seem to have mastered throttle control and 'dynamic balancing' fairly well. and most important are the way that Real Trials riders ride - As my years progress, maybe I'll agree with you but I'll try to remember not to enforce my favoured rules on the whipper snappers....probably
  24. I couldn't make it to the first training course in November due to work, and admittedly I've had to leave it late to apply for the January course due to my wife's work (nurse shift patterns etc). I sent the application in a bit before xmas, but its full up (Saturday 13th January). Does anybody know of anyone who's not able to attend? ACU can let me know possibly next Thursday, but only if people actually cancel rather than not turn up. Sooner I know the better. I still need to arrange send my kids off somewhere for half the day. Bit of a pain in the butt. I was a National Clerk of Course for last year, and we have a couple of Nationals this year (Novogar and Welsh Championships). Shame to lose it if I can possibly avoid it and it may be awkward later in the year. Cheers, Gaz
