Why the big push for classic trials to go to non-stop. I'm errrr.....approaching 40 My bikes in my earlier days were Majesty's, Fantics, TY175, Bultaco, Ossa.
I never rode non-stop until I rode the Manx 2 day about 4 years ago.
When did the non-stop rules come in and go out?
Trials weren't so bad in the 70's 80's when you could stop, roll backwards, whatever you want, so why is non-stop seen as the purist classic trials???

No I think it's absolutely genuine mate. I suppose if you become one of the best in the world on a unicycle then the other wheel is just a spare
Brilliant to watch, but I've no doubt she's genuinely doing the stuff

The hair in a bob, the lumpy jumper, and Sherlock Holmes detects "he's" a fake
Sorry Jamie

Ah - Sorry
Shut up What do you work as CK - I need a new job, you're never there

I just re-read my post and it sounds a little negative the way I said "He's not expensive so you can't expect the earth". It wasn't meant to be at all. What I meant was, we got more than I expected for the money changing hands. A lot more.
Excellent day, brilliant instructor, all round great bloke.

Been a long time since I lived up there, but as I seem to be the only one skiving at work so early in the New Year:
I would imagine that Charltons is still available for practice if you contact the Guisborough club.
And if you fancy a 50 or 60 mile trip Harwood Dale (Low North Park) is spot on. Need to contact the Scarborough club for that one.
I think both of them may need club membership.

Left overs? At my house?
Couldn't make it as my better half was working all over xmas so I was doing my babysitting bit
Been a bit busy on the whole recently. Only ridden twice in 4 months.
Where's everybody going this weekend? May have to bring the bikes out of mothballs.

Or you could buy a new one, and leave the old one on for the next trial. Guaranteed it will get bent back to almost perfect shape negating the need for the one you just bought
Technohead has described the way I do it. Just try to get some heat insulation between vice and lever or it takes a fair while.

What's going on with Tom Minta - that score don't look right. Did he ride the next route up?
-
If you were local to our area, I'd say turn up at one of our events, he could do the beginner route, and just let him pick and choose where he rides. As long as you make sure they have a beginner route, there's nothing to stop you doing that at any trial.
Find something local in TMX, and give the secretary a call.
Come on, must be some people local to Chorley on here? Give the lad the details of a decent club for this sort of thing. Most places you just have to ask, people in trials not always overpowering, but very willing to help when they know you want a bit of help.
If Cheshire Youth Trials aren't too far for you to travel down they would be ideal - not my club, but my lad used to love them on his little TY80 when he first started. They have a little place called Alvanley around Junction 14 of the M56, and mostly kids plus fat dads like myself riding round with them

My lad did one of his training days near Cirencester, somewhere off the bypass between Birdlip and Cirencester.
He's not the gobbiest of blokes, he's a down to earth good bloke, so I think it's better if the parents give him some space to do his thing.
He's not expensive so you can't expect the earth. He has to share his time between 10 or so riders, and can be very different levels within the group, but he did well with ours, managing to give something to all of them.
May be worth checking if he does days specifically for certain levels of rider.

Could be headset bearings breaking up.

I know I should know this Stu, but not been involved much recently - what's on 26th mate?

It's got some funny fonts in it, but works for me
That's the way - calculate the RMS voltage, all the 0.707 junk, then chuck a big nail in it anyway

If this is the one, stick a 1 amp fuse in it, or you could be changing it a fair bit. This shows the current at just over half an amp.

I have to chuckle at the number of people humbly saying "200's are great, nobody needs any more than a 200. If I decide to sell my 250 I would be sorely tempted to get another 200"
If they were so great, then why did you get a 250/290/300. Or are they just good for beginners, and you're above that?
I reckon what you can do on a 200, you can do on a 300, the throttle is not an on/off thing, most of them have got a clutch, and some of them have gears.
Then when you do need to pull 4th while hauling a fat butt, the power is there to pull it.
OK - maybe a bit of devils advocate here, but humour me.

i missed it
Dude don`t worry I think that was the night Bikespace woke me up with his tongue in my ear! Damn that there alcohol making me sleep in public!

How do you fancy trying this when you're better Barry?
Just an idea...

My old man reckoned there was a spacer which sort of bolted inside the swinging arm on one side, and was threaded inside, so the spindle bolts in to this. Make sense?
Maybe someone else can confirm or deny this, and maybe elaborate.

In fact, now I've got mine I don't mind the competition so you may as well have the link. They're not often there, but if you spot one it's worth every penny.
I saved it as my home page for a week or so to wait around for one.
Clicky Here then click on the big red SAVE bottom right

I've just bought an IPOD video 30Gb from the Apple store - refurbished, which is regularly a problem with the packaging or something like that, guaranteed for three years as usual, absolutely as new, for

Towards the end of the Chris Carter trial (I think 2 years ago), as we were fairly tight on time, we dropped off one of the last hills through the trees, a load of bracken, then a steep fairly open field with a load of spectators. My arms were killing me, and I sat down as I rode down in to the field, and dropped both arms by my side, shaking them to get some feeling back.
At that point I hit the badger hole, and the world turned upside down. I just remember the bike bouncing over the top of me, and then bounce again, as I saw the Range Rover and a group of people with a very well organised little picnic set up, and I didn't seem to be slowing down.
Everything went in slow motion as I tried to smother the bike to get the pegs, or anything to dig in to the ground. The bike eventually stopped with me lying across it, and I looked up to see some very scared faces about 10 feet away. "Afternoon, any vodka in that???" was all I could think of.
Quite a few people witnessed that, I reckon 40 or 50. Were you there?

I think the Sherco is only two gears. I'm not up to date on the Gassers, but from what I remember the Gasgas boy is the same - 2 gears. The rookie apparently used to be full 6 gears, but I've just not seen many around. One I did see at an AMCA trial where the frame snapped and separated frame from forks put me off them at the time I was buying my lads.
Looking at the GasGas UK site, the rookie is not listed under 2007 machines, so not sure what's happening there.
Might be just my perception locally, but the path round here seems to be Beta 50, Beta 80, then when you get to 125 you've got the choice, and most seem to go Gasser or Sherco.
