  1. I didn't keep check on the hours it took as it was done over a period of spare time I had, I painted the frame and tank/seat unit myself using 2 pack aerosol cans bought from my local bodyshop supplier, I used a plastic primer on the tank/seat unit the brand I used was pro xl
  2. The changes was I bought a later model Montesa 309 frame, swing arm and yokes, and converted it into a twinshock instead of an air cooled mono frame, I done this by welding the rear subframe to the main frame adding strengthen gussets where needed and top rear shock mounts on the frame and swingarm, the 200 engine fits straight into the engine mounts with no modifications, I used the original wheels and front suspension, the only modification was new front wheel spacers and I fabricated a new front mudguard bracket as the 309 yokes are wider than the 200. Once the bike was in this stage I then bought a Montesa 310 front exhaust pipe and modified it to connect to the original 200 silencer, I fitted a dellorto carburettor from a Montesa 315 and fabricated a alloy air filter box and used a Montesa 315 air filter, I made a alloy chainguard and bought a Montesa 307 seat/tank unit and welded bracket to the frame to mount it, the seat I made to.
  3. Here is the lubrication chart for the Montesa 200, use 2 stroke oil mixed with the petrol maybe 50:1 ratio, so 100ml of oil to 5 litres of petrol, it looks a great project to restore
  4. these are some of the manual
  5. My Montesa was just the same as yours but its very modified now
  6. I have a manual for a Montesa cota 200, I can take photo's and send them to you if that helps
  7. Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2005 model way back in 2007, turned out I over oiled my air filter, Sandifords advised me to remove rear mudguard, air filter top/air filter and fire trap, do the reset procedure then it started, a small lesson learnt not to over oil your filter, you could also try a brand new spark plug to
  8. Hi guy's , sorry to hear your having trouble renewing your licence, I had no trouble at all renewing my licence not checked weather I have renewed my membership yet, used to be able to renew membership and licence together, maybe just lucky
  9. If you look round your Beta alloy frame and swing arm you will see various small vent holes to release the inside air pressure when welded
  10. They might be air vent holes they put in before welding, when a part is welded like the hollow section of the swing arm is welded to the alloy bearing part you mentioned the air inside will heat up and increase in pressure and would want to escape leading to a defected joint, so a small hole is put into part of the fabrication to allow the hot air from the hollow section to escape via the small hole in the bearing part
  11. How about trying a new spark plug

Hi, recently purchased a 242 but I find the petrol tank doesn't fit that well around the rear shock absorbers, it's an original white plastic tank not fibreglass, has any of you had this problem?? when I put the long bolt in through the front of the tank and pivot the tank down to its proper seating position on the frame it fouls the rear shocks, the bike is totally original never trialed having spent its life in the warm Italian sun
  17. Scorpa sy250 yamaha engine model or Montesa315 would be a good choice
