  1. Did you dad ever sell his bike Pindle?
  2. Can anyone with a black engine Beamish please tell me the size of the pilot jet they are running in both the 250 and the 325? The manual suggests that the 325 should have a pilot jet of 20 and the 250 a pilot jet of 27.5 - that doesn't make any sense to me if the larger number denotes a larger jet - would you have the smaller jet in the larger engine? I have a 250 and have just stripped the carb, the jet number is too faint to read. I also have a 325 that was originally a 250 and that has a 20 pilot jet and it is not running correstly. I would also like to know the needle clup position as counted down from the top of the needle. A concensus of what people are actually running might tell us the correct answer and prove the manual right or wrong! Merry Christmas to you all!
  3. Thanks for the information Rhinouk. I have an OKO carb on my TY175 and it works really well.
  4. Has anyone replaced their Mikuni VM28 with a Keihin PWK28 or an OKO flat slide carb? How does it work on the bike and what jetting did you use?
  5. Worthing Trials club http://www.worthingtrialsclub.com are holding a trial in Sussex on the 18th December and beginners sidecars are welcome. The ground is not too challenging and idea for your first outing - honest! Also Witley Club have a trial also laid out for sidecars in Surry on the 11th of December http://www.witleymcc.org/
  6. I have now had some coversion plates laser cut to correct the compression ratio if you have a 250 head on your 325 or have taken the liner out of your 250 and want to be able to start it without snapping the kickstart!
  7. Having said that ATF is fine in the gearbox on a Beamish, I have found that on my 325 outfit the clutch judders under the load of 2 people and a chair. It is much better with using the recommended 20/50. I had no problems with ATF in my 250 solo though.
  8. The footpegs and currently being chrome plated and should be available in a couple of weeks.
  9. I inspected my barrel and there is no small hole in or near the exhaust port. East of starting would be a decompression valve in the head but Suzuki didn't leave space to fit one easily. I was told (by Graham Beamish) that the head was skimmed for the conversion from 325 to 250 but had never actually seen both heads side by side to compare them; I now have a photo on my website of both heads. I had taken the head off a friend's 325 to compare it with mine but the looked identical - I now know that he also has a 250 head on his 325! Having a 250 head on a 325 gives a compression ratio of nearly 9:1 which would be fine for a MX bike but is a bit fiery for trials. I have had some conversion plates laser cut to compensate for this and to bring the compression ratio back to standard.
  10. I have the head and barrel off mine at the moment so I will tkae a good look and put some photos on the Beamish website if you are correct. I know one mod was to put a 1mm hole in the piston under the bottom ring by the exhaust port to aid lubrication but hadn't heard of a hole in the barrel. I have the 325 engine in my outfit and it sure does pull 24 stone with a chair on it no problems right from tick over!
  11. The manual shows no difference in flywheel between 325 and 250 and no weighting on the clutch side like the Bultaco. As Woody says, all black engine models left Japan as a 325. To make it a 250, it was sleeved as you know but also the pilot jet was changed from 20 to 27.5 and the head was skimmed and the squish band altered. This weekend I will be taking the top off my converted 250 as it blew a head gasket on it's first outing despite putting in a thicker base gasket to try to reduce the compression ratio! The 325 has a compresion ratio of 7.5:1 and the 250 6.7:1. If you just use the 250 head on your convertion you end up with a compression ratio of more than 8.7:1 - mine snapped the kickstart at that ratio. I have a borrowed 325 head and I will photograph and measure both and put the findings on my website. I have heard of a guy who is supposed to be having some new 325 heads cast and I will keep all informed on that via my website too if it comes to fruition.
  12. Thanks Finn, I take both run sidecar trials do they?
  13. Finally got my Beamish outfit up and running (too many bikes to look after!). We now need to find some Trials to ride. SE England would be good an something that complete beginners can cope with! Any help / advice much appreciated.
  14. HI Ausy300pro, Contact Wayne Weedon (who is a member on here), he will make you some fork caps or look on Ebay USA. Teh fork spacers are correct. Exploded diagrame is here on the website http://www.beamishownersclub.com/_sgg/m5m2s1_1.htm
  15. The early forks take 236cc of ATF in each leg.
  16. The long er shocks will mean your swing arm is pushed lower down, hence the overall increase in height at the rear. Just make sure the chain doesn't foul the top of the swing arm especialy if you are using a small engine sprocket.
  17. Hi, you might like to ask on local trials sites, I run the Worthing site but a number of our memers are in Surrey, I also know the webmasters of a couple of Surrey sites too. I have an outfit too and hope to be out there on it soon! PM me if you want to advertise on any of my websites FOC.
  18. Hi Rob, you aren't the only Newbie - my mate and I have just bought a Beamish. We did have a Monty 315R outfit for a while but couldn't find any competitions close by. One thing I would defintely advise is a hand guard on the throttle side - you will fit one after your first ride if you don't fit one now! Good luck and see you out there maybe!
  19. Crooks dimensions are different because there is a 3mm washer/spacer of about 25mm OD either of the wheel, one by the spacer and the other between the brake plate and the fork leg.
  20. Sorry I have no idea if it's available or not, try your local dealer frist in case it's a common part or e-mail Crooks.
  21. Sorry can't find one but the dimesons are 12mm ID, 19mm OD and 25mm length. 09180-12057 is the part number.
  22. Forgot to mention you will need to alter the steering head angle if you put 'leading link' forks into your Majesty frame I think you will find.
  23. If you are going to the trouble of fitting a new front end to your Majesty I would suggest Marzocchi forks with are far better than the Suzuki.
  24. I may have a spacer, I will look when I get home. Yes I had a bike recently that had the original mounts milled off and Renthal bar mounts bolted on and it worked very well.
  25. I am having some more made shortly, they are as monoped says based on the GasGas/Sherco and are chrome plated like the original to match the frame. I will let you know when they are available.
