does anybody know why my pro is attracted to water. the last 2 trials i have ridden where drops into streams are required my bike automatically lies flat in the water with me horizontal as well. completely soaked as in last weeks wye valley trial. do all pros do this or do i have a bad one.

I have been trying to purchase a new AJP front caliper for a 1997 270 gas gas(single piston type) but to date have been unsuccessful. Can anyone help me locate one? I have tried gas gas dealers.

i had a similar problem on my 04 280 but also could not start it from cold. i cured the latter by drilling out the starter jet to 1mm. to improve hot starting i bent the tangs on the carb float to increase the amount of fuel in the carb. i also increased the pilot jet to a 38, but by far the most successful aid was to fit the head spacer. the starting technique for my bike which now starts quite well(about twice on a trial i have to use choke)is to open the throttle wide as i kick it over. hope this is some help.

which spacer do you mean? and why? just realised which spacer you mean,---- having a senior moment have fitted flywheel weight, head spacer and slow action throttle. bike is like a 500 single. i`m now running out of excuses for crap results!

i wish to soften my 2004 280 pro and have been told to use a heavier flywheel or a 1mm head spacer. any body tell me which would be the most noticeable and useful to a novice rider.

pilot jet increased to 38 starter jet drilled out to 1mm everything else as standard air screw approx 2 turns out--do not want to alter it as bike runs fine

I often need the choke to start this bike when hot even thoughIi have set the float levels at 16mm by bending the two tangs that touch the float. Now i am wondering if I should have done some bending at the float valve end instead. If so , how? The bike starts easily from cold using the choke

can anyone tell me the reason for the chrome covers/clips /plates on top of the ajp 4 piston front caliper on 2004 280 pro

if i leave the bike for a week on starting it the clutch will not clear at all until i have rode round for about 5 mins. it is then ok. i have replaced the oil with 400 cc of dexron 3 but the problem was still there today although this was the first time the bike had been started for a week. any advice would be appreciated

i am a complete novice, weigh 15 stone and have just bought a 2004 280 pro. the 2 mods i immediately made were to fit a 10t sprocket and slow action throttle. i took it for a practice and loved it. i found the power helpful in pulling away from almost stationery (and often floundering) at a tight turn into a steep hill .the power was more of a help than a hindrance which seems to be the usual advice given. i could also use a higher gear than i would expect on steepish climbs. i am looking forward to entering a trial soon .

what is the bewdley mcc website please. also where can i find a fixture list for trials in the midland centre as i cannot find an acu midland centre website, thanks

do all the gas gas exhausts rub on the tyre? is it a problem or do i fit spacers?

would like to try larger starter jet. any suggestions what size and where to get one from. gas gas uk do not have larger than a 60(standard). i have tried a 65 but no noticeable difference

the bike runs with a slight bit of 4 strokeing and an occasional knockwhich has been improved by using a high octane fuel. can someone confirm that the starter jet only affects cold starts or does it affect hot starting as well?

i have recently pourchased a 2004 280 pro which takes 5 or 6 kicks to start when hot. i have received the following advice which is leaving me confused. one advisor says reduce float height to 17.5mm and reduce air gap at sesor to flywheel to a minimum while another advisor says replace the 35 pilot jet with a 38 but not to reduce the aforementioned gap as the spark will not be improved by doing so as the cdi unit produces the spark and the pick up is only a trigger. any help would be appreciated

i have been looking at a 03 290 (03 on rear mudguard). is there a way of checking year from the frame number and i would appreciate any information on any trouble spots or items to look out for on this model. i have not owned a sherco before. how does it compare with the gas gas? i am a novice thanks

my 1997 270 gasser has a red rear spring. is it a different strength to the normal yelow one? if so what is the difference ?---thanks

how do i change the fork seals? the forks are gas gas and i assume one is compression and the other rebound.do both forks dismantle the same or are they different? how much oil do i use? thanks

here are pictures of the dish shape spacer (damaged) for 1995 gas gas which fits somewhere on rear wheel bearing/ hub spacer but do not know where in relation to bearings or which side of wheel. any help appreciated.
