    Honda Cr500

Crikey - that picture was life-size!!! Nice bike though, you've done some serious work on that puppy! I'm kinda toying with the idea of picking up an old'un and restoring it back to stock Honda trim - for that mid eighties look. Might have to pick up some supermotos for a bit of a grin too! Had some lads motox'ing in a field near ours today, went to watch with my lad and his friend looked great fun! They were all on 125s and 250s... all laughed when I said I was toying with the idea of a CR500! Wishing me good luck getting it started! - We're / are they really THAT bad??? Cheers - Matt.

    Honda Cr500

Anyone out there ever owned / riden a Honda CR500? Thinking of buying an early one to restore and have some fun on. Any tips, stories etc. that might prove helpful? Cheers - Matt.
  3. So it's 1-2psi in the back - what should be in the front on a TXT50? Do the bikes have to go through scruteneering before the event? Thanks for all the comments guys, there's loads here that simply wouldn't have occured to me until it was too late. Have made a huge list - and ticking items off one by one! Cheers - Matt.
  4. Andy, glad you think that the Regions could be an added bonus to TC. Perhaps, it could be kicked off and trialed (no pun intended) in the UK section - with an overhead READ ME from yourself, explaining what to do - and what not to do. From the off, perhaps the Regions section could ruled as a "test/beta version part of the site" for a period of time, see if it was used correctly, had enough input, and was user maintained - rather than you having to repost evrything. I appreciate it could potentially mean a load more work for you, BUT nothing ventured nothing gained?! Cheers - matt.
  5. Take your point... But, when I used to be part of a 4x4 forum, when we used to meet up it was kinda cool to put a face to the Username. By having a Region forum, might even find a few more likeminded trials people in your area, to meet up and ride with, learn of useful resources in your area etc. etc. However - if this idea is crap - then just say so, and I'll shut up! Cheers - Matt.
  6. Was thinking more like 8. Stole the idea from here: http://www.bikechatforums.com/index.php?c=3 I find it works really well, getting to know other people in your area... Cheers - matt.
  7. Thanks Hovis, that's another item on the list! Cheers - matt.
  8. Just a thought... is it possible to suggest NEW areas for the forum? Was thinking that it might be a good idea to have a section devided into Reigons of the UK (and potentially other countries). The idea behind which is that it might be helpful for event organising, meeting fellow riders online - and at events, and become a good resource for YOUR area? What do you think? Cheers - Matt.
  9. Thanks for all the input guys. Just want to make sure that I have everything I need for the day, so that I don't get stressed before we get started - and that I have what I need if things go tits up!!! My boy's quite a confident rider, but it's a new bike to him. Whilst I intend to enter him for the competition, i don't want him to feel under pressure to "compete". Having never ridden an event myself - is it OK for him to skip sections if he/we think they're too difficult - and perhaps ride other sections a few more times if he enjoys them? Obviously i don't want us to get in the way of other competitors, or anoy anyone... do you think this will be OK? cheers - matt.
  10. Telecat, thanks for that - couple of bits I wouldn't have thought about there... We're off to the last Blackmore Vale Club competition. I'm not expecting my boy to ride it all - just want to take him along and let him have a ride around, and see if he wants to try any of the simpler courses and get used to the event as a whole. Thanks for the reply. cheers - Matt.
  11. I'm taking my 7 year old lad to his (and my) first trials event on the 31st. We've been to watch a few over the last year - but this is the first time that we are taking part. I'd like a few pointers as to what I need to take along (other than the bike and rider) so that this first event goes as smoothly as possible for my son, which will no doubt revlove around me being sorted - and having everything I need to make it a pleasant first time out for the both of us. ANY suggestions, as to what to take would be greatly appreciated. Cheers - matt.
  12. Just taken a look at the Scorpa site... I hope their bikes are better than the websites! That said, have you ever seen the Montesa website?!? Obviously all these guys are too busy out having fun on their bikes to bother putting a half decent website together! Thanks for the messages though. Cheers - matt.
  13. Better take a look at the Scorpa site then! Cheers - Matt.
  14. Sorry if I'm being super dense here but... How do I know if the bike is a SY250F? I'm assuming that Scorpa have only just gone 4 stroke - line Montesa. So as a rule of thumb are all bikes pre-06/07 two stroke? Cheers - matt.
  15. OK well I'm very confused now... I've been looking around at SY250's trying to figure out what to buy. BUT now I've seen one saying it was a 4 stroke - I thought they we're all 2 strokes!?! Just done some looking around and see on TMX News that Scorpa indeed do 4 stokes. So are they all thumpers, or are there 2 stroke as well? HELP! Cheers - Boner.
  16. Brilliant! We had very much the same scene outside our office a couple of months back with twice the number of Wessex Water employees standing around a hole with water pi**ing out of it - with one bloke working in the hole sorting the problem out. Good to see that they were being so thorough in seeing that the job was done properly and I supose they have to justify the increase rates somehow... didn't ask the bloke if he was Polish though... 17. Best be getting up to BVM then...
  18. Bit of an Arai nut too - got mine from Crescent Suzuki: http://www.crescent-suzuki.com/pages/home/index.aspx Worth keeping an eye on this time of year because they have Xmas sales sometimes. Cheers - Matt.
  19. OK - to be fair, I haven't visited MANY trials shops... but, as I said BVM are good and very helpful chaps. Just kind of get the feeling that the lion's share of the trials scene and shops are up t'North. Be kind of good to see more support/action down this neck of the woods, hence why I like to buy my stuff locally, even if it does cost me a couple of quid more. Matt.
  20. Got to say, we visited the Dubai a couple of years ago for a holiday... what a place! Petrol's cheaper than water, and you get fined more for dropping rubish in the street than you do for speeding in your F40! Crazy! Would love to go back again. Personally I'd leave the trials bike at home and go buy a V8 LandCruiser then go play in the desert! Matt.
  21. Which he could then stick on ebay and make a prophet...
  22. Hovis, Have a rummage on ebay for a canon IXUS 400. I'm kinda into my photography and mainly use Nikon DSLRs BUT when I'm out in the woods, something small like the Canon is bang-on for just stuffing in your pocket. The IXUS takes a cracking picture - and as the 400's now a slightly older model, you can pick them up dirt cheap. Hope this helps - matt.
  23. Clothes at the moment - new helmet for my 7 year old lad. M.
  24. Yeah know what you mean about BVM, I too dropped in as I was passing through - and felt that it was a bit of a bolt-on after thought to the BMW dealership... that said, very helpful chaps. Shame about Active Bikesport too - as they would have been bang on. Might drop in and see Brian Goss, next time I'm in town. I'm suprised that there aren't more businesses down this way, as there are ALWAYS loads of people and bikes at local events. I supose most people buy online now. Thanks for the replies though chaps. Cheers - Matt.
  25. Here's mine... '94 Blade - customised a little bit... check out: http://s175.photobucket.com/albums/w142/matt125521/ She's up for sale too, if you're interesred!
