    This is from Talon: Gas Gas TXT 50 1 x TG543 (415) x 9T - Front Talon sprocket -

    Txt50 Gearing

Tom, just been speaking with Kev at GG - and he says just go with the 60T on the back sprocket. Give's the bike a better grunt uphill. Other TXT50 mods worth considering are: replacing one of the two thin clutch plates with a thick one. And enlarging the hole in the airbox lid to help the bike breath better. I am in the throws of doing all the above - and will post how the mods have helped the little TXT. Cheers - Boner.

    Txt50 Gearing

Chaps, was wondering if you could help me with a gearing query? I am wanting to slow my lads TXT50 boy down a bit. It has the current Gas Gas set up 10 teeth on the front and 52(?) on the back. The bike tends to run away on downhill sections, as the motor spins up - and oppositely, could do with a bit more bottom end pick-up when attacking uphill sections. Could I drop a tooth on the front cog and resolve this? Or are there other options? Cheers Boner.
  4. I'm booking a long (free) weekend then! Boner.
  5. Guys, have never been to a Trials World Championship round before. Am I right in thinking it would be a little like MotoGP - buy your ticket beforehand, and turn up on the weekend of the event? Seeing as there are no rounds in the UK this year, I thought I might whip over to France for the weekend and watch the French round in Maisse. Anyone got any ideas how I get a ticket or two? Cheers - Boner.

    Water And Oil

It's a TXT50 Boy. All the above sounds very confusing! Will do my best though! Cheers - Boner.

    Water And Oil

Thanks Scoti, I'll replace it whilst the engine is in pieces. Cheers - Boner.

    Water And Oil

Guys, I drained the oil from my lads TXT last night and it looked quite milky. It had an oil change last week, with fresh ATF fluid, then did a trial over the weekend. Having to do some engine work anyway, so drained the oil, and was suprised to see that it was quite discoloured already. Do you think there could be some water creaping in from somewhere? Or does the oil/atf sicoulour quite rapidly when worked hard? Cheers - Boner.
  9. Perhaps we should all forward our spam mail to Miss Miss Lisabella Morgan @ lisabellam01@gmail.com. That would really spoil her day... Boner.
  10. Thanks guys, found those videos REALLY helpful. Had a bash at it last night, and will lift the engine out of the frame tonight. Sadly haven't got a lathe, so I'll have to buy the tool from Gas Gas. Thanks for the pointers though. Cheers - Boner.
  11. Simplest thing to do is keep an eye on TMX news: what's on this weekend: http://www.tmxnews.co.uk/website_content/n...kend/index.html And have to agree with Yo Yo that In Chains are good, but would say that they are more motocross/enduro focused. Cheers - Boner.
  12. Far from it!!! There are a number of meets in and around the Blackmore Vale. Wilts & Dorset MCC if you ride twin shock, and then there's YeoVale (but that's Somerst) to name but a few... As for Sammy Miller - doesn't do many bikes, but have seen a couple there over the years and/or might know of some. I'd try BVM first though. Cheers - Boner.
  13. Skiboy, the long and the short of it is... there aren't any! (That I'm aware of). The nearest are: Sammy Millers in New Milton, BH25 5SF (Not many bikes though) or BVM in Stroud. A good selection of used bikes, and a VERY good service. http://www.bvm-moto.co.uk/ The other option is to keep an eye on ebay (once you know what you want) - and it's worth going to a few competitions and asking about for used bikes, and talk to other riders to see what they think works best, and what to stear clear of. Hope this helps. Cheers - Boner.
  14. Guys, took my lad and his TXT50 to a competition yesterday and the bike seems to have developed a clicking noise when running in low gear. Have just spoken to Kev at Gas Gas, and he says it is usually a tooth chipped of the low gear in the gearbox, unfortunatly its an engine out job & strip it completely down... Is this a MAJOR job? I'm quite good with the spanners, but if it's too complicated then someone please tell me know before I break my lads bike! Is this a sort it at home job, or should I take it down to my local bike shop? Cheers - Matt.
  15. My only advice, when looking at trailers is to ensure that it has good lashing-down points, both front and rear. The best way to tie the bike down is from the handlebars outward. So the wider the angle from there to the lashing point the better. Brought a single trailer myself a while back, home made job from an engineer - but worth every penny. Have a good look at what's available on ebay - that way you can see what's out there, and what sort of money people want for a good trailer. Cheers - Boner.
  16. Guys, just been on the SSDT website - can I find the dates of the event anywhere? No. Please could someone let me know when the event runs from and to? Quite fancy some time off work and taking a trip up north. Thanks - Boner.

    Benly Powered

Gosh, you look away from your computer for two minutes - and you get loads of posts! Scorpa250 - that's where i saw the bike, at Roger's meet. The bike in perticular was the Gazelle, sounded great - not too sure about the yellow and brown paint scheme though! Didn't spot the other Benly, will keep my eyes peeled on the 13th. Some nice bikes out there - and some serious work. Thanks for the replies. Cheers - Boner

    Benly Powered

Was observing at a local twin shock event last weekend, and someone had a Benly powered bike - which for me was bike of the day! It had a lovely sound to it. Missed the chap at the end of the event, as I was still walking back, but found out from a friend that the chap had built the bike himself. Was wondering if anyone else out there had a Benly powered bike? Cheers - Boner.

    Bl**dy Bolts!

Thanks for the advice Jon. Unfortunately it arrived a little too late! The bike is now down the road with my local bike mechanic trying to dort out a semi-stripped out thread! Must say, totally agree with your mantra that says it's easier to blame the parts rather than the tools. This was my first thought, bl**dy gas gas parts, crappy bolts etc. But having read your post, yes, it probably my 10 year old (used and abused) socket set which is to blame. Time to buy some new tools me thinks... ...now where's that snap-on catalogue... Cheers - Boner.
  20. What's the standard gearing on a 315? Boner.

    Loose Front Disc?

Ahhh - we'll at least I now have very clean (floating) discs! Thanks for putting my mind at rest on that one! Cheers - Boner.

    Bl**dy Bolts!

Guys, just giving my lads TXT50 a service, but I'm finding a lot of the bolts incredibly difficult to undo. The main problem at the moment is the oil drain plug in the sump. It won't budge. Was talking to someone yesterday, who said that some bikes have reverse threads on the sumps... Would this be the case on the little gas gas? Cheers - Matt.
  23. Guys, was out riding over the weekend and noticed a rattling noise coming from somewhere... Upon further inspection I found it to be the front disc was vibrating as it has a little play. Thought that this couldn't be right - so checked all the bolts and found that they were all tight. So - took it all apart and cleaned it all up so that everything looked as good as new, put it back together again, and it was still loose! So my question is - is the front disc suposed to have a certain amount of play? Thanks - Boner.

    Gas Gas Txt 50cc

Yep - my lad's 50 can be quite tricky too. Usually crank the throttle open all the way (in neutral) and get kicking - always does the trick. Also find the more he rides it the better it behaves. Cheers - Boner.
