  1. Mmmm - I've been looking at helmets too - but have a stupidly large head, so am limited my the range of XXLs out there. Took a look at the Nau range, nice helmets & very reasonable prices. That said brought a Hebo Tony Bou rep for my lad at the weekend - and he's well chuufed with it - so much so that he even wore it to bed!!! Must be comfy! Think it's really a case of try as many on as possible - not all helmets are the same size - even though the sticker says so! Cheers - matt.
  2. Alternatively, stay at home and drink the bottle of whiskey yourself...
  3. Thanks for that. Had a sneaky feeling that could be the case. I know that local riders do use the land, and have done for years. Think it pi55es the locals off a bit too - which is never a great idea, because one of the local farmers opens his land up to a local club, which I wouldn't want to jeopardize. Would I be right in thinking that the police would have the right to confiscate the bike as well? Cheers - Matt.
  4. We have some great local woods, a good percentage of which is Common Land. Was thinking of heading up there at the weekend to do some practising. Was wondering if anyone out there knows whether it's OK to ride on Common Land? Cheers - Boner.
  5. Yep, agree with the above. My lads Gaser likes to spray oil too. Have tried all sorts of ratios, currently running a 60:1. To be honest the problem seems worst when he's pottering around in the back yard, but when the bike is given a good workout at a competition, the oil seems to blow through and is good for a while. Suggest you just get him out there and wind 50 up! Cheers - Boner.
  6. Thanks Subira, looks like I might have to go down that route... To be honest - I'm stunned that there aren't more options out there. Will drop Lewisportusa a line. I see that they do a host of bits for the 4RT, perhaps they'll do some for the 315 too. Cheers - Matt.
  7. Guys, picked myself up a shiny 2004 315R at the weekend, and really don't fancy scratching it to bits with my boots. I'm wanting to get a clutch cover and a flywheel cover and perhaps some frame protectors too. Can anyone point me in the direction of someone that sells, protective covers / guards for the 315? Thanks - Matt.
  8. Went to BVM yesterday and came home with a shine 2004 315R! Went out on it today - and I'm WELL chuffed!!! For everything that has been said about the chaps at BVM - they couldn't have been more helpful and friendly...IMO. Cheers - Matt.

    Dog Bone Link?

Guys, I'm off to look at a 315r in the morning and have been searching the forums for what to look out for... One think thast seems fairly reoccurent is, warn dog bone links. Not 100% sure what to look for, but I'm guessing that its a metal link that looks like a dog bone in shape attaching the swinging arms to the frame? Is that right? Cheers - Matt.
  10. Thanks guys, will go out and have another go at the weekend. Might have to pinch my lads football first! Cheers - Matt.
  11. Exactly. Will find myself a lump of wood when I get home and get whittling... Thanks.
  12. The problem is with my son's TXT50 which sits in the boot of the LandCruiser. Have tried putting a stand under the sump - ratchet to front forks and one over the seat. Am I right in thinking that someone sells a kind of brace to wedge ontop of the front wheel to stop the forks compressing too much? This might be the answer to my troubles! Cheers - matt.
  13. So, each time I try and strap the gas gas down to take it anywhere it ALWAYS seem to riggle loose of the ratchet straps, and slowly lowers itself onto it's side!!! How the hell are you suposed to strap a trials bike down for transport??? Cheers - matt.
  14. '94 Californian import... frankensteined by a crazy strretfighter guy. Awesome bike to ride, rather like a Supermoto on Steroids! Have updated (edited) the pic, with a link to more pics - also has a second back end... Cheers - Matt.
  15. ...and if there's any petrol or solvent cleaner left, then you can get high...
  16. See... I'm always right. Just wish my wife would realise this. Matt.
  17. Thanks for the replies guys. Found a nice 2001 just up the road, but think I'll hold out for a 2002. As for the link Scorpa3 - interesting reading, thanks. That said the Scorpa SY beats all the other bikes, hands down. Which doesn't help matters, as I was considering one of those instead of the Mont... Decisions!!!!
  18. Guys can you tell me if there is a huge difference between a 2001 and a 2002 Montesa 315R? Thanks - matt.
  19. Yeah, have got my eye on that Mont - but it's a couple of hundred
  20. Thanks for all the suggestions chaps... Off to trawl around t'internet. Looking for a road reg'ed '04 Montesa 315R. If anyone knows of anything - PM me! Cheers - Matt.
  21. Guys, I'm after a new (to me) used bike... The question is where to start looking for one? Obviously, there are the classifieds here - and of course ebay. Can you suggest any other good places to look? Thanks - Matt.
  22. Just a quick one to say that we did our first competition this weekend - and had a great time! Thanks to all that inputted on this thread, very helpful advice - took everything - needed nothing! That and I packed the ruck sack and then left in in the car! The boy tried everything, took it all in his stride - and if he hadn't needed me to help himn kick start his bike, would have left me for dust in the woods! Think I need to get a bike as well... cos I was bloody knackered walking around after him!!! Thanks once again - Matt.
  23. Went out and spent loads of money on a pair of Alpinestars, because people said they were the best... NEVER again. Very stiff boots and let the water in at every opportunity. A load of money when I'm sure there are a lot of other makes out there that do a better job for less money - IMO. Matt.
  24. When I read this thread originally, I thought mine doesn't do that... But guess what? Mine does to! Only noticed it as it splattered oil into rainbow patterns acorss the wet drive. If anything I would image that there's a little too much oil in the mix. Will use up this tank and try a leaner mix... and post the results. Cheers - Matt.
