  1. Hey, Yep - running the recommended BPR6ES.... I'm wondering whether it could be the pilot jet....it's running a 36 and 108 main... Standard is a 33 - although, some folk do use a 35.....with me spending most of the time in low throttle positions, maybe I'm choking it up a bit..well, a lot!! .....?
  2. okay, ...anybody any ideas on causes of this? ...running too rich I think is one cause - are there any other things worth considering? ...didn't even manage a lap today - before brand new plug got so bad the bike started to misfire.....the bike was running really smokey too....even with the correct premix ratio? ..I think my head may explode..!!
  3. Hey Guys, The last couple of rides out, the bike's been running awful, not ticking over etc... Each time I've got it home, plug out - and it's jet black & sooty... I know this usually means it's running too rich - but, I've got it at 80:1 premix, the air screw turned out 3 3/4 turns and running a 108/34 jet set-up...2nd up from the bottom on the needle... I know this isn't the standard jetting - the guys at Sandifords said it's just a bit snappier of an option...but, I'm wondering whether I need to wind the air screw out a bit more then the recommended settings due to this jet change? The other thing I'm not sure about is blocking the rear mudguard airbox holes off?...I've done this too (with gauze), so not sure if again I'm restricting air flow? Anybody got any experience of running this jetting and how to set the air screw? Cheers,
  4. ...cheers for that... ..will do.... is it all mono classes?
  5. Does anybody have the details of tomorrows Sheffield Hallamshire trial? I haven't been able to get a TMX.... Venue? Postcode/directions? Start time? Many thanks, Scott
  6. yep - got those details off the mansfield site cheers.... ...but, it doen't give an ideas where the venue is?..... ...anybody have any directions?
  7. Hey, I've heard that you can practise at Bracken rocks on a Sat? Does anybody know the postcode and how to organise a days riding there? Cheers,
  8. Hello to the guys from BC..!! So - how is the riding over there? I tend to spend about half of the year in Whistler, half of the year back home in the UK. Towards the end of last season - I had a chat with a guy who told me the riding all the way up the sea-2-sky and on the Island was fantastic... I'm back over in a couple of months - and considering shipping the mont over as excess baggage!! Think it's worth it? Cheers, T2R
  9. Could anybody recommend any practise areas around the notts area? Just looking for somewhere to blow the cobwebs off really, play with a few bike settings etc.... Any ideas appreciated.... Cheers, Scott
  10. I've just got a set of the new Jitsie alloy/steel pegs..... they cost a little more than the Hebos, but are lighter, slightly larger, have taken a good battering so far and look pretty pimp..!! Worth considering I'd say......they are a fair amount cheaper than the raptors.....but a far better product than the hebos I think..for not a lot more..!!! just a thought!
  11. Hello.... ..and a warm welcome to the world of the 315...!! ...couple of things worth considering air filter wise: block off the holes in the mudguard with some metal gauze (helps keep the lions share of crap out)...I purchased a sieve and cut that up...found it to be the cheapest way of sourcing the wire mesh) ..when you put the mudguard on - try to seal the back of the airbox/mudguard a little better with some duct tape or similar.... when you put the airbox cover on, make sure you insert the filter into the cover first, with a small amount of grease to help adhesion/seal...... As far as cleaning the filter - I just use warm soapy water to clean in out...then air filter oil to recoat....kneeding it in with my hands to get a good coverage.... Also, make sure the little widget in the bottom of the airbox is cleaned out..... If the bike is running a little rough - I'd consider the usuals first.....jets and channels.... Hope that helps.... T2R
  12. Hey Guys: Thanks for the advice: The ignition side seal/gasket is fine - no problems/perishing at all. I've had all the carb jets out, blown the tracks out, blown the jets out, made sure they're clear with a small piece of wire etc... The only external screws for adjusting on the Delorto are the idle and idle air screw I thought? It's the air screw which I've played with - adjusting to the recommended point (1 3/4 turns out)...this seems to be the norm for a 2004 from what I understand.... If I adjust the fuel screw out further - I'm guessing it will become leaner.....?...I've tried turning it in more but the throttle response then seems to bog down when you open it up? Could the needle height have anything to do with it?
  13. ...yes - well, all around the card, reeds, airbox etc etc.... ...could the needle height have any effect?
  14. okay....further to my last post on the pain and suffering of a non-idle friendly 315... So far: New Plug Cleaned out carb (4 times!) New carb o-ring set Checked for air leaks adjusted air/fuel screw New air filter Checked throttle cable Checked for exhaust blockages Checked petcock filter and fuel line filter.... I'm fresh out of ideas...... Anybody shed any light before all of my hair falls out....or is pulled...whichever comes first..!! Throttle response is good off the bottom....doesn't bog down at all.....it just won't idle.... You can set the idle too high...it will run for a fast for a few seconds...then, gradually slow right down and die.... Any other suggestions..!! Thanks,
  15. Hey: I noticed some slick looking jitsie footpegs on a 4rt at the dirtbike show...looked like an ally body with little steel pins...they looked really well crafted... Has anybody seen these on-stock in the UK? Cheers,
  16. Thanks again FF.... I'd had the petcock out and checked the filter... as the bike has great throttle response off the bottom....I'd assumed the pilot screw was in an okay position... I'll have a look tonight and see how it goes.... cheers,
  17. Howdy: I've just been out on (at last) on the bike today - generally really impressed....smooth off the bottom...only problem is the tickover... the bike will idle for a few seconds - then gets a bit lumpy and dies... If you turn the tickover up - so it's revving a little high.....it still idles for a few seconds...a little longer....then dies again? I'd had the carb off the night before - cleaned it all out......as the bike runs fine during the rest of the throttle response I'm guessing it can't be a jetting / air-fuel screw issue..... so I'm stumped... Anybody shed any light on this one...? Cheers
  18. thanks... I'll give that a go...
  19. Hello.... ..whilst cleaning the carb out today...I snagged one of the float level arms and bent it quite a bit.... ...can anybody advise how to straighten and reset the level?....is there a datum or measuring point? ..can't believe I've buggered it before I've even rode it..!!!! Cheers,
  20. yes - at last....bit of a twist and pull....couple of extra sets of hands...on the kitchen floor it fell..!! bearings replaced - today I will mostly be trying to put the think back together.... Cheers
  21. Hey guys: are there certain days when you can practise?....or can you go any day of the week? cheers...
  22. cheers... kitchen floor more like....and I've got about 1hr before the missus gets back..!!!!! any ideas on the gearing?
  23. No idea... I haven't had a chance to ride it yet......picked it up yesterday....stripping it down at the moment... Do any of you guys know: what the standard gearing should be for a 2004? how to get the swinging arm out?.....it seems like the linkage bearings could do with replacing....I've stripped it down as much as I can...but the arm doesn't seem to look like it will ever come out...!! Cheers,
  24. Anybody know how much gearbox oil goes in a 2004?... Also - what coolant type/levels does you use? Cheers,
  25. Alright guys.... ..well, I picked the bike up today...at last.....seeing as I bought it off ebay it's turned out okay..!! The only thing is that it hasn't come with a manual? What should the standard gearing be on a 2004? Currently - it's on 10:40.... Also - the forks have an obvious rebound adjuster on the top right light......but look like they have some adjustment on the top left and bottom right too.....anyone know what these adjust?...maybe pre-load and compression damping? Finally - it's got a bit of a dent in the header pipe....and some chunks out of the clutch casing.....are these parts going to cost me a fortune if I decided to replace them?...(you know how it is with a new bike...!!). Cheers,
