I'm thinking about buying a 4 stroker any one rode all of the different bikes??
How do they compare??

It runs fine with the TY 250 mono carb, but when you open it up going up a big bank it bogs down!!!
I think i need to change the jets???
in the manual that came with it theres an extra spec sheet that give details for the dellorto carb jetting for 2 models???
There must have been 2 versions of the the Garelli 323 one called (Section with a Dellorto phbh 28 bs) and the other called (Ranger with a Dellorto phbh 26bs)
i'm going to look for a site on the net to translate some of the italian in the manual into english for me next!!!

After about 4 hours messing around i got it running!!!
Checked all wiring and cleaned the points and set them up and cleaned the carb.
It started but kept spewing fuel out of the back of the carb and filling the airbox!!!
I had a spare dellorto hanging around that came of a TY bolted it on and she started first kick!!! WOO HOO!!
Then it ran out of fuel about 10 seconds later!!! DOH!
So i bought a new plug this morning and some fresh fuel and it started first kick!! i put it back together this afternoon and tried it, the clutch was seized but the plates free'd up after about 15 minutes.
It ran like a puppy!!!! and i rode it around for another 15 minutes faultlessly, i'll take it for a decent ride tommorow.

Can anyone refresh my memory about setting points on a 2 stroke, as i have'nt messed with points for about 15 years???

I bought an 87' model Garelli 323 aircooled mono today, road registered on a "E" reg and only 3 owners from new and even had the original handbook with it.
It's in exceptional condition, but isn't sparking??
I think the points need looking at?? i haven't messed with points for about 15 years?? any one care to refresh my memory on the right way to set them up???
And any info on these garellis would be a great help.

I had a problem with flooding on my quad a while ago and it turned out to be contaminated fuel, if you put a bit of pipe on the fuel inlet and blow through it hold the carb the right way up with the bowl removed then as you blow in the pipe push the floats up to make sure the valve is shuting properly. just give it a good clean and blow out.

Well i've had pretty much all the different bikes over the years apart from the new 4 strokers, and Betas are definately better than gassers the only thing better with a gasser is it's a bit lighter!!!! i don't know why people think the front end is heavy???
Just move the bars back a little bit, that'll shift your wait back and help grip and lighten the front end feel!!

I think Dougie would have won again in 05 on a 2stroker!!!!!!! the 4 stroke just was'nt upto the job in the beginning!!

If it started and run fine at first it sounds like it could be the woodruff key!!!
I had a montesa 311 years ago it ran perfectly i knocked it off, then started it up knocked it into gear let the clutch out and the bike went backwards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The woodruff key had sheared and when the engine started it ran backwards and i had 6 reverse gears!!! WOW!!!
I can still remember the bars smashing me in the guts!!!

I've had an 01' 03' and just ordered a new 07 ' sy 250 which i'll have by the end of next week!!!!
You'll love it!! Top bike and mega reliable.

After speaking to the dude in the shop and he told me they are having a few problems with carburation with the 4stroker at the moment, so i decided to buy a 07 sy 250 2stroke!!!!
But maybe next time, they should have got the set up bang on by then!!

I can't decide which to buy, a sy250 or a sy250f???
I tried a montesa 4rt last week and quite liked that, but i don't like the thought of that fuel injection packing up as i'm not a lottery winner!!!
i've had a couple of sy's in the past and they i got on well with them, but i'd like to try a 4 stroker??? any one know of any problems with them?

I tried the 4rt on saturday for about 10 minutes, first of all i hated it for about 2 minutes, then i started to have a little play on a few banks and changed my mind completely!!!
It just needed more of a rev and would do anything i wanted it to do, and eat the banks!!!!!
I think it should be mine!!

I've been offered a montesa 4rt by a friend, and wondered if theres any faults to look out for????
I've only ever rode 2 stroke trials bikes!!!

My 04 Beta came through ebay a mate email'd him and he phoned me back and i went and had a look "5 miles away" and did a deal!!!!!!
what a bargain,what a bike!!
Then again i bought a 94' honda civic with a bit of panel damage, the description said it was'nt too bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When i went to pick it up "150 miles away"..................... oh my god, it'd been rolled!!!!!
The pictures made it look ok!!!
Some people just can't desribe things accurately!!
