I've just spent about £650 at H&D racing on shineys for the mont. About 6 times the amount I spent on all my Xmas shopping combined, so worth it. that's not even everything I wanted...
Would've also hit up banyeres for more bits but my drift car needs mapped
I also find sandifords keep some nice bits along with the usual trials uk etc they always have something shiney for a 4rt.

Trial enduro direct sell the s3 big bore kits new at quite a reasonable price..

I have an s3 ti front pipe and a single map throttle body. Don't know what map is on it, whatever pidcocks supplied with their 280's.
-
As a 6'7" 20st decent clubman rider I don't feel I need any more power than my 280 is giving. The only time it is lacking is usually due to having to haul me around. A 250 is much flatter and I wouldn't be confident on some good clubman sections, again that's probably due to my size more than anything.
-
As above my valves were mega tight and it was a hooer to start. Reset the gaps and away she went, never a problem since. This was 3 rides after pidcocks had 280'd it.
-
It's a do-er. Going to get my drifting out of the way next weekend and try find someone that'll sell me one...
-
Golden cheers going to see what my mate says as he's the bodywork type.
-
How bad? This isn't what I need to hear but I've wanted the new mudguard for a while...
-
Montesa riding gear you say? Finally, I can be full fan boy
-
As above i have the H&D (in black) it extends back to the linkage and is wider at the front to help protect the water pump etc. Looks much nicer than those horrible wrap around bar things.
-
My 280 (whatever pidcocks supplied) is noisy on idle, sounds like its coming from the clutch side of the bike. It's been like this for 9 months, gets ridden hard pretty much every weekend and got thrashed round the manx 2 day, it has never changed so im just going with the flow.
-
Unless the new cam has an extra lobe to open a valve to decompress it or similar it wont be that. I wouldnt want any less engine braking anyway.
-
Pretty much this.
I've had 2 strokes since day 1 and owned a 315 mont which was also bullet proof. But, the last 3 years of gasgas ownership were not only costly but time consuming. I also find that my riding has improved no end
-
Tech forks and the rear shock from a sherco I believe? If so they've ruined it and made me sad.
-
I've just fitted 6" jitsie bars to my 4rt, huge difference! I'm 6'7" / 6'8" and the standard setup gave me chronic back ache. Well worth that extra bit of rise if you're taller
-
Some pics of my 280 (finally)
Since I picked it up a couple of weeks ago I've only fitted jitsie 6" rise bars, due to my height and still need to sort a spring for it. Other than that I love it
-
I picked my 280'd 4rt up yesterday, rode it today and wow what a thing. Loads of grunt but not snappy.
Mine has the s3 titanium front pipe and ptb, not sure what kit was used as pidcocks did it for me.
-
It got built up Saturday just gone, I'm on the ferry on Friday night to go and collect it
Ordered link plates from h & d racing and I'm waiting for a spring as they're out of stock at the moment. Once we're back on Sunday ill be straight out for a rip to run it in
-
Mine reads VTDMT04C49 I get it to an 09 but its a 2011/2012. Am I doing it wrong?
-
-
Well that's a kick on the balls, the firm doing the barrels still haven't touched them (apparently there is another poor sod waiting too) going to be another 2 weeks at least before I see it now
-
Barring a disaster I'm picking it up next Saturday so ill be ordering my linkage plates and heavier spring soon.
Then it's the lovely task of learning to ride again as I'm sure it'll be quite different to the gasser.
-
+1 love the rtl look
Oh, and thanks for the link to the banyeres site, looks like this mont is going to be more costly than my nissan!
-
Cheers guys,
The chap at Pidcocks mentioned a termignoni front pipe when we discussed the 280 kit but the email says big bore front pipe (no brand).
A friend of mine recommended vmar linkage plates to help with the rear end. Worthwhile?
Since seeing a 4rt for the first time i wanted a flat tank on one but im concerned about the reduced capacity as i do a few run arounds a year including the 2day. It does sound like there is a high likelihood i'll be eating beans for the next few months but it'll be well worth it.
Any other recommendations mucho welcome

Hi,
I've just bought a new 4rt thats having a 280cc kit fitted along with a ptb (single or twin im not sure) and im trying to find out the general must haves / do's and reviews from any other 280 owners. Im used to power as ive come from a 300 Gas Gas with reeds and no flywheel weight but im also a big lad so i need it
I dont pick it up till mid january when the 280 is fitted but i'd like to buy a few shineys for it so ive something to fiddle about with
Cheers
Nick
