  1. Coating just acts as a damper. Eventually it will wear through.

Yet you may want the #250 fuel valve for the larger bike, as it sucks more fuel.
  3. Did you reverse the vacume and supply lines on the fuel pump? See if it will stay running on a separete (elevated fuel supply.) Just thoughts.
  4. Hey Ken, Got your pm late, so figured I might as well post on here. This does sound unusual, and everything you describe sounds as though coolant is not circulating. Short of a pinched hose or blockage, seems you have checked the rest. Two thoughts here, ok. 1- remove pump cover and actually start the bike briefly to insure the pump impeller keeps turning and there is no"lost cog" on the pump drive gear. 2- I have never tried this, but it seems somewhat logical to me that if in the process of doing your repairs you lost the thrust washer that goes on the pump shaft between the engine case and bearing, and the nylon drive gear, this could possibly cause or allow the shaft to move enogh to increase pump impeller to housing clearances to the point that it will not pump the coolant. IT IS EASY TO LOOSE THIS WASHER! So, I suppose one might even tell with the pump cover removed and if the impeller slides in and out too much, you may have found it!, now the wash!!!!???
  5. Yes, I have a new one here if you would like to use it for pattern.
  6. Kinda like finding a good mechanic, or doctor, all a bunch of idiots!
  7. Its on the intake but cange ie nautght, new coated pistons are quieter!
  8. Both are "A" pistons so unless you are doing a hone job makes no difference. Stuff it in! Don't use that cutout any longer!
  9. OK, well first thing to verify is the fact you do indeed have the stock dellorto on it. I do not disagree with Ryan on this, as I stated you just gotta ride it a bit to see what it does, yet at the same time, your initial indications were not good, and we have replaced crank seals on newer bikes for symptoms related and being unstable.. The things seem to have a propensity to go a bit lean off idle anyway, which is why I have had to go up to a 38 pilot in the past. But on your base idle, at 5 turns out you are out of range of the screw to begin with. Look at the end of the screw and count the threads per inch, you are just at wide open past about 3.5 turns anyway! Fuel screw it is! All this varies a bit bike to bike, Another little trick would be to put the crankcase vent tube to your tounge to see if you can detect any changes in vacume when revving the bike. You can add a clear hose and add this to a water table test in a cup. Leckage measured in inches of water on the clutch side. All fod for thought!

    Wheel ReBuild

Neo, you might well be advised to trim them 3mm long spokes prior to install, or you might wind up having to grind them down after. Double check the clearance prior to disassembly.

He,He, Chewy loves massaging the bike, not unlike a lot of the other stuff we have done over the years! Looked a bit to me like his rusty spot in where the stamp the numbers in. I must admit the fact I hate white in a trials bike. Seems there are too many shades to even get a good rattle can fix at times! Add the fact there is nothing that stays white anyway! The chrome frames were good, yet far from perfect. Now good old BLACK one can deal with! Wonder the update on Chewy's rear rim?

    Buying '05 3.2

I would just try to insure the rear linkage is in good condition. There are a few folks about like Ishy that just rode the crap out of these things and loved them. Seems to me they were a bit gentler than the later ones, and if you got a good one, it was good! You kinda gotta be a four T fan to appreciate them I think. Beats the hell out of some them old bikes! I would love to have one to play with, yet not in the buj! Good looker too!
  13. Ryan used to have some several years ago. Someone was making, but they were way expensive at 2-300 range. The older style had the wing piece for chain guard built in. Not neccessary as the new ones don't. The newer covers, '06 up I believe, are a bit better designed and overlap the case a bit with an outer lip. One of these may make a better pattern to copy. I may have one as spare. What would be interisting would be to make a bit deeper cover to get an added flywheel weight in there for the big bikes. Perhaps Chewy has a old Beta flyweight laying around?

Sound as though you may have to do just that! Think it will come to tire vs the fork brace before it is over!

Ok, the US importer is Ryan Young at RYPUSA.com, click on the Sherco icon for info, parts , tech tips etc, or just call via the contact info. Ryan is there during normal business hours. These bikes actually come with sealed and pre lubricated main shaft bearings. Hopefully they are still ok and not washed out by the fuel in the motor, only time will tell, yet for now you should be ok as long as the crank seals are done. My standard pref at this time would still be the Viton, available through Splatshop UK, as compared to the standards for hopefull longevity, but the standard seals still work fine for years. Big things here if you want a quick ang clean job are marking the shafts and nuts soo you can take things back to proper torque after repair using air tools. They are hard, so it takes a dremel disk or summat to mark them on three basic pointes. Flywheelnut and shaft, clutch hub nut and shaft, and primary drive gear nut and shaft. You gotta remove the clutch side cover which means possibly tearing that gasket, so have a spare, yes draininf coolant, removing pipe and cooling hose clamp as well. 23mm screw clamp as I recall. Remove clutch springs and pull plate, thin big nut(scribed) to move the basket so you can pull crank primary gear(may need a bit of knocking)as they are tight. Plop seal out then reinstall and reverse process! Easy peasy! Watch washers, specially on water pump gear shaft opun re install, stick with grease. You'll see it all, if not you are recco to find the dealer!
  16. Poor earthing on the CDI could have had some adverse reactions in it in the electricks! Think I may start there! Good news is that is cheaper than the other parts!
  17. The highly mentioned Ryan Young trials training DVD's are readily available, if out of stock in the UK. Both Basic and Advanced versions. Two methods, Direct at www.RYPUSA.com, via online/phone orders and charge cards $49.95 or about 31 quid. Post to UK is package rate at $14.95 or about 10 quid. 41 total. No Paypal. Indirect, costs the same at what equated today at 31 quid things, but I can get a bit better rate on the post and package at 3 quid, and I will accept the Paypal on it if needed, yet may take a bit longer at 34 quid. I am not available to run to the postal office on demand, so adjust. Normal post times are 6-10 days. I make squat on naut, so pick your price, yet at the same time, happy to help! Cheers, PM me or message up! Mark
  18. Update on Ryan Young training DVD's!!! Available! I shall place a separate post on this issue.
  19. Renault,,,, that is French is it not? I am sure they will fix you up when they go back to work!
  20. Hopefully you got your pilot jet clean, but I think this more related to the fact your crank seals are shot and sucking air so it is lean and you are unable to compensate. Also hope you took note of the pilot jet number, as I think you need to get it in the 36 range or better on our crap fuel. I will add other comments in your other thread re- the crank seals.
  21. Figured Wayne to comment on this, yet further thought may suggest he likes the redneck stuff!

Jeeez, one would think a fellow would not let things get that way, but it does look little ridden and in good shape so not a bad deal. I would guess if you have the carb clean and the bike running, you can ride it, but the crank seals probably need to go. Not terrible, as they come out the sides of the main cases, but you will at least need a flywheel puller and possibly a few other bits. Look through the historical threads and you will find tips on this, then get back. I reccomend the Viton seals from Splatshop. Should last better than the standard ones due to the alcohol in the fuel we get. I would never put that crap in a trials tire. Makes a helluva a mess! Time to learn how to fix one properly, best start is the new style rimbands with integrated valve stem. Mike at Tryals Shop! He has them. Not sure if you have a local Sherco dealer, but Clutch plates normally stick together after sitting due to surface tension. NEVER trust them, hot or cold! You got tools, air and experience?
  23. A bit of Thump Thump from back when!!!!!! I am thinkinking late 70's? Where has my memory gone? Seems some their later work is even a bit much for my taste! I think the young arab's have just recieved this music! So much for censorship!
