    Heavy Flywheel

I notice another chap inquireing about putting a heavier flywheel on a Sherco. Does anyone have any ideas? There doesn't seem to be enough room under the cover to add weights. One fellow suggested using depleted uranium as a materal for a new heavier flywheel. Can anyone make one of these? How about Charliechitlins? Another fellow said that the uranium spinning around between the legs would make your grapes shrival up like prunes and fall off! Any ideas?
  2. Looks like bike is too clean! Been busy changing diapers then Stu?
  3. To quote a buddy about his kids starting the 125,"like squashing ants"!
  4. THE PROBLEM IS IT'S A GG PRO, NOT AN EASY STARTER! The Sherco 125/200 are much easier! The Beta's aren't bad either, but opposite side!
  5. Charlie, the timing has to be up a bit to keep funny things fron happening as you stated. If you have the Ducati ignition, the majic number I found was about 2.75mm BTC for slow timing, or about 1/4 to 1/3 slow on the backing plate. Slower than that and it just does'nt work, too much unburned fuel downstream and a lot of "run -on" wing -ding stuff if you follow. Halfway works ok as i recall and provides the needed results. GO FIGURE! MC

    High Res Pics

So,at least a couple of bits of first hand info here I suppose. Looks like Howard is running the keihin on an '05 I suppose and likes it even better! And Jarvis Sherco says that the long pipe does indeed smooth the power! I am not a very aggressive rider myself, and happen to like the torque of the 2.9 but it can be a real handfull when it hits power, so on my late '03 bike, with the new ignition, I am running the keihin, timing set midway, and aluminum(quick) throttle modified so the first 1/8 turn or so works like the black tube, yes if you need more it ramps up fast from there! A 44t rear gear slows the bike, yet gives quick response on a short run up without it trying to outrun ME!, especially in the tight rocky sections. Anyway, enough rambling, who is going to try yhe intake spacer first? MC ps - I did a quick ck on part numbers that showed the same cylinder from 01-04 the '05 pn is different?

In accordance with Caby's interview, I think they very much tune the bike to the rider and the pipe is one of their options. Looks like the pics show the longer pipe on Graham's bike! Nigel said his '05 bike was soo much smoother than his '04 that he found no need for the Kiehin carb!(Although I cannot help but think it would still make a difference as it is a much better mixer) I wonder if the longer pipe and the intake spacer make all the difference? There may not be any difference in the cyl. porting at all ! Maybe Nigel could degree out his port timing to find out for sure. The changes in ignition timing and curve, intake and exhaust can create a different bike without doing much else, they(SHERCO) just don't tell us all the little tricks, so we need someone who has the time to find out! Where is Wayne or Charlie when you need them? MC

Looks like Caby is running the short header pipe from the '04, possibly for more top end power?

    (my) swingarm protectors!

    Sherco 2.9

You need some of swingarm protectors!

    Sherco 2.9

Looks like you missed the carbon protector on the pipe!
  12. Is that the mechanism for their overworked livers and kidneys when they ride, or a motorized IV for beer?
  13. Uh, I dunno, Cody Webb? GO CODY!

    Leaky Coolant

You need just enough coolant to cover the plate and channels, any more will go overboard when the coolant gets hot and expands! However, it will find it's own level! Cheers, MC
  15. If Dan Brown has anything to do with it, you Brits may be having GRITS for breakfast in Tennessee before too long! You will not be dissappointed!
  16. I have been working a bit on some new stuff and thought some might like to try! These are Carbon Fiber swingarm protectors to fit Sherco! (and possibly Gas Gas, although I do not have one to try, they may require trimming) and fit flat sided swingarms. I hate it when after the first few rides the anodized finish wears off from your boots and all of a sudden the bike looks well worn! They are 1.5 mm thick and finished on both sides(so they are interchangeable)and about 2"x9in long so they provide full coverage for the normal contact area of your boots(may be trimmed for less if you like), and made with high quality epoxy resins to provide maximum wear resistance and good looks. They are attached using a contact adhesive(which you must provide)and are practically unbreakable. Weight is approx. 2oz. So if you have a new bike that you want to protect, or an older one that you want to dress up a bit, let me know. I currently have four pairs ready to try. The cost is 30 dollers per pair and includes postage to cont. US addresses. I accept paypal also! E-mail me if you would like to try them, I think you will be pleased! No pic provided as I think you know what the stuff looks like by now! I am also considering making a few sets of matching Carbon Fiber sprocket and disc protectors, so let me know if you are interisted! Cheers, Mark
  17. I second that ,Ron, great response and very informative! There is a lot of talk in these parts about AMA sanctioning for insurance reasons in the state clubs and events, both pro and con. Any thoughts?
  18. The AMA has to get their cut(for insurance and all) and then you have to pay for Tony Bussing's fuel in the motor home, you have 18.00 remaining! It is a THIRSTY BEAST!
  19. 3 or more turns out is usually required
  20. A fellow rider called me today and told me a Long Story about a fellow that had e-mail'ed him wanting to buy his bike. Seems as though they had everything worked out when this guy started pulling the check scam! Being a pretty savvy fellow, he had the cashiers check(with no return address) from Boston examined and found it to be a fony! All the while he said he was recieving phone messages and e-mails with instructions amd shipping orders and currier pick up orders for the cash difference! Thankfully, he did not fall for it, but asked me to remind everyone! They may not all be from Nigeria! Cheers,
  21. Ringmaster, All B.S. aside, I was just thinking of that very thing the day you posted about the girls and was gonna put something about it. Dan mentioned it at the awards presentation at the TTC rounds that their scores were better than 90% of the guys! We need to get Dan or someone with that fancy software on their laptop to put all the scores together at the end of the season just to find out. ps- I told one of the guys a while back " I wish I had taken more pictures of the Williams sisters at the Texas National a couple of years ago, riding in the pouring rain, covered with mud, and------- very cold!"
  22. Did I just find Johnny Ringo's last remaining NeRvE, or is he just afraid them girls scores are better than his?
  23. Ringo, I appreciate what you are trying to say here and I don't want to strain your brain, but you need to do an accurate comparison. The girls ride the support line, not the expert line or the pro line, so you need to compare scores with the guys riding the same lines in the same sections. Since you started this, you do the math! And don't forget about Louise Forsley, she has managed to kick some serious butt this year too! ps- you don't stand a chance with Cristy or Kerry!
  24. That makes Lane one of the TOP TEN riders in the USA! STILL! This is simply astounding, considering his medical condition (hypertrophy of the cranium). Is it possible that this condition has migrated to the GONADS? Will we ever know the truth, or will Andy continue his grudge, forever? MC
