  1. Not sure about your water leak... but about the oil leak, it's probably your skidplate taking hits that eventually caused the inner clutch casing to bend and oil started to drip at the joint of the 2 casings, as you've noticed. You can disassemble and unbend both parts. Trimming the rubber as suggested will prevent this to happen again soon. Both the skidplate and inner clutch casing were "upgraded" in 2013. They're basically the same parts but "thicker", more robust and less prone to cause this problem again. If you decide to order make sure you specify 2013 and up, as the part numbers are the same (!) and you don't want to get 2012 parts as replacement. You can check this thread for more details, pictures, etc. http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/topic/43879-2012-st290-leaking-gear-oil/ Hugo
  2. I suggest you read this topic. http://www.trialscen...herco-250-carb/ Not for the same bike (ST2.5) but might give you some ideas. You'll see someone made a spacer to change the angle of the CDI unit so the choke lever has room to operate. On 2012 and up the CDI was moved on the side, that's something you could also consider. Might be as simple as adding the CDI bracket that was introduced in 2012 ?

    Sherco 200 Oil

Look at this document from the Sherco USA website, there's a section for "transmission oil change" with pictures and all... http://www.shercousa...ation_guide.pdf
  4. Thanks for sharing the picture. Not easy to find out when Sherco does change/upgrade a part but keeps the same part number! (skid plate is listed as #3583 for both 2012 and 2013) Same thing goes for the clutch cover, part# 3130 since 2011 but the 2013 is supposedly about 2.5mm thicker. My clutch casing was almost touching my clutch basket as you can see on the picture. I was able to fix the bend from the casing, nothing perfect but not more oil drip. The skid plate was also bent as the picture shows, pressed it back as well to relief some stress for upcoming impacts... Trying to be more gentle but sometimes you can't avoid some kind of landings For sure I don't have the best riding technique but still, it never happened to me before on any other bike. Considering upgrading to the new (2013) parts for peace of mind. So Danny Sherco: not 100% sure your problem is there, but it's the first area I would check.
  5. I was wondering too and inquired about this weekend's event and got a reply from fim-tv staff saying they will not live stream any of the 2013 x-trial events. Only highlights will be available, after each event. Too bad.
  6. Yes down in "ON" There is originally this sticker on the tank but it fades out quickly, boot rubbing it off...
  7. Thanks Chris for the information. I've noticed small patches of deposit that I've cleaned and then re-assembled "dry". Will keep an eye on the coating's condition over time. Copemech: the brake lever now use an oilite bronze bush. HK roller's gone.
  8. Starting 2010, Sherco uses what they call "friction bearings" in the dogbone linkages instead of needle bearings...I am not familiar with these. I was wondering what's the best way to maintain them in good shape? I read this type of bearing is sometime self-lubricated (oilite), but I am not sure if that is the type Sherco is using in the dogbones ? When disassembling, they seemed quite "dry" (but they are moving freely). Thanks for any tips/advice. Hugo
  9. According to a post on Sherco's facebook page, changes would include: New kickstart & gear lever design New footpegs (now “adjustable”) Formula brakes “additionnal radial bearing” for the clutch ? Right side of the crankcase & skid plate redesigned for “greater protection to the underside of the engine from large impacts.” “a frame that has greater rigidity and stability” New fork calibration... New spring lock washer on the shock absorber. etc. You can read the whole thing yourself here: http://www.facebook....23651589&type=1
  10. This weekend, july 14-15th, Rounds 1 & 2 of the 2012 WTC Canadian National Championship, in Morin Heights, Québec. Also on Friday a free trials school will be given at the same location, under the instructions of Paul Yvan Bélanger. If you need more info, check out the ataq website or let me know here. Hugo
  11. Self-tapping metal screw in a shock, that sounds terrible! From what I know, Jitsie is marketing a shock that is built by a Belgian company called "TRP Suspensions" so you might have more luck googling this instead. For sure it's rebuildable, I would try to find a local suspension shop for a quote on rebuilding it. If you don't find locally there is Stadium Suspensions near Montreal,QC that should be able to help.

    2006 290Cc

I would take a close look to the frame, make sure no crack is present. Check the bridge part that links the left and right side of the frame near the radiator. From 2007+ the frame was designed differently to address this issue. My 2006 frame broke near the front engine mounting bolts on both sides. I don't think this was common however (and the bike was 5 years old when it happened). It was easily repaired by rewelding it, but it's worth checking if you're to buy one. I can dig pictures I took and send them to you so it's easier to locate the spots I am talking about. Overall a very good bike in my experience. Nothing else that I remember being major.
  13. Yes, the spring would be in the top of the carb, where the throttle cable attach to the slide of the carb. There is 2 bolts to undo on the top of the carb, I think a 8mm socket will do it. This will free the slide/spring/needle assembly. Check the state of the spring. Never seen a broken spring there but you never know, or maybe previous owner fitter an non-original spring? You can also pop off the plastic cap of the Domino twisting grip, so you can see if some debris or damage is causing the wheel/guide to slow down the return of the cable. Lastly, see if the the wire inside the cable housing is moving freely. An old rusty cable could also be the culprit here ? And what about cable routing: no interference/bad kinks, etc. ?
  14. That's correct, 2010 and 2011 had no fuel taps at all. I've installed an inline-fuel tap from Motion Pro on my 2011 and it works well.
  15. New Paioli ? That makes sense. I guess I was too quick assuming it was going to be the same as on the SSDT model... a closer look shows some differences.
  16. They advertised their SSDT special edition with Marzocchis. I don't know why they call these ones "Tech Suspensions". Marketing maybe ? (Just like they renamed Paioli to Ceriani over the last few years...) Just by the photos, they look like Marzocchi. There's even a little italian flag on the logo
  17. I think your comments show a lack of respect and a lack of knowledge... It appears both official languages in Canada are English and French. 1/5 of the canadian population, mostly located in the country's second most populated province (Quebec) has French as their mother tongue. And it's not like they just arrived as you suggest! That is why it is expected for any "official" organization in the country to have its communication handed in both languages, at least if their goal is to reach the more people possible. This is what the CMA has been trying to do over the years and the WTC is going in the same direction with some improvement to be done. It's already tough to handle national series, if we would fight because one end would not make the effort to communicate with the other, we wouldn't go far. Luckily, experience shows this is a non-issue when comes riding time. At the end of the day, you may as well call that thing a "scorecard" or a "carte de pointage", the only thing that really matters is the number of zeros punched out of it!
  18. Here's a link to torque specs (in french & in Newton-metre...) http://pagesperso-orange.fr/alpestrialance...ques-SHERCO.pdf Note / disclaimer : this is not an official document from Sherco.
  19. Hi Carl, I don't have any specs for 2002, but I had a 2004 and now a 2006 and the specs were: 259mm for the SACHS on the 2004 267mm for the OLL

    Wilber Shocks

I didn't know this brand before reading another post on shocks here... I was curious too and found out a bit more info. Seems it is a german brand and more easily available in Europe than oversea. (The YSS is another brand in itself and I don't think it's being used in trials) If you follow this link you'll see the different possible applications and Sherco is listed there: wilbers application/price list For the spring rate and configuration, they would go by your weight. A UK shop as a page with some pictures of a Sherco being equipped with the shock unit in question. general info more specific page on the trials shocks Still, no real comments / feedback from actual riders... it would be nice to hear some impressions. Hugo
  21. Or, another and easy solution is to use the new style rubber band that comes with an integrated valve. I heard this is now a standard part on the Gas Gas 2009. Probably other manufacturers will use (or are already using?) this for their 2009 line-ups.

    06 Sherco 290

yes, unfortunately there are no "owners manual" for the 06, nor for any years afer 2003 as far as I know. But, most of the information of the 2003 "poster/manual" still apply. As for the gas screw, yes, the stock setting should be around 3.5 turns out. Take note, contrary to many carbs, the screw on that dellorto carb acts this way: when you unscrew it you make the mixture richer (more gas) i.e. 2.5 turns out is "leaner" than 3.5 turns out. Hugo
