    4rt Ptb Maps

Hi all, I've just taken delivery of a 2 stage throttle body for my mont. As it is set up for the 260, has anyone got 250 maps they could email to me?? I'm looking for the standard map and a "softer" one, maybe 2 below standard. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
  2. Andy, that would be a Mr Rockett, #188 that decided to give you his bike! 10 out of 10 for effort though, it was VERY slippy first lot through
  3. It all kicks off on monday, and with so many good riders starting this year who do you think (if any) can topple Jarvis?
  4. Have any of your other bikes done this in the past?? Could it be due to the altitude you are riding at, makes water boil at a lower temputure? I believe you can get an additive to put into your system which increases the boiling point!
  5. With the 4RT though, if you maintain it with regular oil and filter changes with good oil, check valve clearences as per the book the engine is near bulletproof, i think the past scottish's have proven this. I had a cabastany sherco before I got my 4RT and i was shocked at the build quality. I will say though that my last GasGas ( 2000 280 TXT ) was good and with regulat maintenance i never experienced any problems although i am led to believe that the pro does have its drawbacks, If i was in your position just now i would pick the 4RT, it might seem biased considering i have one but until you own one, you wont realise how GOOD they actually are!!
  6. I had a towbar on my 1.0 litre nova, pulled quite the thing I fitted a rack and the vertical loading weight was 50kg, I never had a problem but i did put a strap from under the footpeg through the top of the back door and secured it to the floorwell to stop the "flex" that you get with the rack. I would think after continued use the towbar/rack would suffer from metal fatique and you defo dont want your pride and joy passing you on the road!

    Ssdt & Pre65

I hope all riders who read this thread will take on board the severity of what the illegal riders are doing to the pre65 and SSDT and will take some action on it, whether it be a mouthful of abuse at the riders, photograph plates or pull out the portable bat that we all keep in our rucksacks and show them how we feel Just make sure they're not a observer/press first!!
  8. I used to have the same problem, it soots up bad if you dont let the bike warm up. Start the bike and let it idle for 5 mins with no throttle whatsoever, since i started doing this my plugs have been fine. I run the standard 6!

Of course not Andy, all in my opinion

    Ssdt & Pre65

If I pass any during the trial i'll certainly give them a piece of my mind. On a past thread there was something said about snipping throttle cables of the offenders, although it is resorting to vandilism to stop people "supporting" trials, we'd be better off without them. I say snip em! It wont be long until they get the message, its a long push back from some of the sections they get too. If we do take pics of bikes and plates will the SSDT committee/plod take action?? (less violent approach?)
  11. After the run in period of my bike I checked the clearances, The exhaust valves were tight also. Backed off to manual spec and had the exact same problem. Changed plug and it was better but not spot on, done the valves again and slightly tightened, 0.001" and not had a problem since. Its a bit of a strange one, i've asked about but everyone seems to have spot on clearances with the bike running perfect?? I'd check them again, take a note of the reading and tighten them in small increments taking special care not to go past what they originally were positioned before backing them off. Test after each nip up. You shouldn't have to tighten them too much before you'll notice a difference!

    Riding Numbers

188 and counting hours, nerves!! have i got everything, I'm i fit enough? Will the bike be OK? etc etc I take it i'm not the only one??
  13. I use these, maybe just a bit too bulky for riding sections but great for moor and road work, gel padding as well if you've got girlie hands! http://www.bonthronebikes.co.uk/356-32274?source=froogle
  14. I got mine from BVM, they come in 10 and 20mm form (just spacers on the clamp, they are Hope REP items)
  15. I put a set of fat bars on my 4RT, I found a difference over standard but still found i was crouching/leaning over the front of the bike too much. 10mm risers has made the world of difference! Much more comfy, I'm able to fling the bike around much more easily, makes me feel in much more control! I think it all depends on your height and preferance, i'm 5'10 and the 10mm rise just suits my riding! Bar the obvious of tall riders having to bend over less, you want the optimum height so you have the best strenth in your arms when on the bike
  16. I had a transporter, great van but the headroom for getting changed is a pain, I needed it for daily transport also and found it was just too big at times (tesco shopping will roll ALL over the back!) I changed to a smaller van (transit connect) bike in corner to corner and loving it. The TDI new Caddy has the extra oomph but are expensive, an ex BT connect you'll pick up fairly cheap and add a dragon performance chip and its just as good as the VW!
  17. When your flat out across the moors, front wheel drops in a hole and launches you over the bars....you'll appreciate your foam!!
  18. I had one on my 4RT, had the exact same problem of it pushing out in bends, I think it all depends on what your used to, mich comes as standard on nearly all bikes so a change makes it perform different to what you were used too! I didn't like it, changed onto the dunlop and had no problems!
  19. Woosters are good, I've had work done by them in the past, good and speedy work!

    Ssdt Advice

    She can be mean!!
  21. Not actually seen one in the flesh but from what I can gather, reviews etc, they are a cracking bike, much better, smoother than previous years! Better rear shock aswell
  22. It all depends on what YOU prefer, at the next trial blag a shot on both to see which you prefer, both has their ups and downs!

    Tlr 200 Advice

I'm currently rebuilding my 85 TLR and i'm having some problem locating parts. I'm trying to get my hands on a front hub, red original plastics and a kickstart pedal, does anyone have them lying around for sale or know where I may get them?? Thanks in advance
  24. The van is far the best option, you cant 100% ensure the security of a trailer or rack. There is products you can buy to stop disconnecting a trailer if you plan to leave the bike on overnight but you cant be sure they wont just take the bike through force etc. I personally dont like racks due to the "bounce" that you can get, surely if its used often enough this would lead to metal fatique. Ground clearance and grip is sometimes an issue on farm roads etc due to the cars wheelie effect. With a van you can get changed in the back out of rain/snow etc and the bike can stay in overnight without anyones knowing its there. Its worth the extra outlay!
  25. I know Gary at Highland Leisure has dealings with scottishtrial. Scottishtrial sell the plastics on their website so i'm sure Gary could track them down for you!
