  1. You can't imagine how easy it is. :-)
  2. The easiest way to proceed is this: Before mounting the right outer crankcase, hook the spring on to the lever and mount lever and spring unit on the crankcase inserting the spring's arm in its housing on the crankcase. Then mount the lever, spring and crankcase on engine.

  4. Take a look here ... http://montesakingscorpion.blogspot.com.es/2014/01/en-el-dia-de-hoy-cautiva-y-desarmada-la.html
  5. Indeed, it is. And a very effective one, I think.
  6. Take a look here: http://montesakingscorpion.blogspot.com.es/2011/11/condensador-de-electronica-en-la-cota.html I know it's written in spanish (it's my own personal blog), but Google translator can be of help.
  7. The best fix you can find for finding the neutral is locating it while the bike is still in motion. Otherwise you can improve the clutch by taking it out and using an abrasive file in the clutch basket. Almost for sure the discs have been marking its surface. There are many options for your electronic ignition. But as I am a spanish electronic ignitions maker, my answer won't be neutral. :-)
  8. I'd check the condenser. Or directly replace it for a new one. Best if you use a modern electronic one. The flywheel nut should be rotated clockwise to loose it.
  9. Only one oil: SAE 30 or 40. 250 cc.
  10. If I don't remember badly, the upper stud is the only one that is "fixed". The rest of them cross the engine and have another M7 bolt inside the primary transmission case. So you'll need to work from both sides at the same time to tighten it.
  11. The reference is "7V", and it should be 26x150. At least if that flywheel is the same used in the Montesa Impala 2.

    Cota 172

SAE 10W30. 31,5 GB fl oz (900 cc.)
  13. Glad to see you've found the answer. It's a good ignition, and probably the brass ring compensates the original weight.
  14. Mini 6 flywheels use a strange puller. It isn't the 27 mm of the smaller montys, but a 26 mm one if I don't remember badly. It's a light electronic flywheel. Maybe too light for a trials bike, imho.
  15. I know it's written in spanish, but Google translator can be of help. http://montesakingscorpion.blogspot.com.es/2011/11/condensador-de-electronica-en-la-cota.html It's an explanation on what kind of modern condenser you need for your bike, and how to place it on a 348 Montesa.

    Cota 349/4

Take a look under the shifter and you'll find the small screw that I mentioned before. No doubt: it is a 350. It has an absurd mod in the pegs, but it looks nice. Here you can see Mick Andrews riding my 349/4. It is in original condition.

    Cota 349/4

I think it is a 350. At least, its shocks correspond to that model. But the only way to be sure is looking at the left case of the engine. The 350 had a small screw to check the oil level.
  18. The spark plug is dry? Could it be a damaged rubber adaptor? It sounds like if you need more fuel / less air to get a proper mixture once the engine is warm.

    Cota 247

The right angle is about 1 pm. This can be corrected from the outside. The easier way to do it is removing the kickstart, its spring and the outer cover. Then rotate the shaft clockwise, and once you reach its end, place the kickstart and its spring in place over the outer cover with the right angle, and then install the set carefully in the inner case. I know it sounds strange, but otherwise you'll spend a lot of time.
  20. 750 to 900 cc of SAE 10W30. It's the same for the gearbox and the clutch. Motul Transoil is a good option.
  21. Yes. It is not a great idea. You need a lighter oil for the clutch and a heavier one for the gearbox. Try to find an API GL-4 if possible, because API GL-5 sulphuric additives will corrode the yellow metals inside the gearbox.
  22. The outer one is for the clutch and the inner one for the gearbox. To drain the clutch, use the big round screw at the lower right side of the engine's left case.
