My trials teacher here in Hong Kong has 2 of these bikes...although..one is now for parts only I think.
The other is still running really strong and gets used alot. Fantastic motor..his are twinshock...so maybe older than yours...but otherwise looks the same. Not sure about parts...I'll ask him where he would get stuff..although..I think he's never needed to do anything other than fluid..oil changes. Good bike!

danman...
sorry I made a mistake,,because the fork seal size SHOULD be
38-50-8/9
Not that it would matter really
-
danman....this is what I use on my 2002 Rev3.
Fork Seals....38-50-8/10.5
Fork oil I use 5 weight...and I put exactly what the book says which is 370 cc's in the Right leg and 350 cc's in the Left leg.
Hope this will help you.

I'm NO expert BUT..I used to just undo the Jubille clips and twist out the carb on my Beta Rev3 BUT...it was knackering the rubber carb sleeves...and was VERY difficult to put back. SO..now I always remove the rear mudguard and airbox...which doesn't bother me...but the threads on the airbox fasteners dont seem to be that strong...in fact...quite a few of the threads on my bike feel like they are made of butter...HOPE they last longer than I think they might!
-
WOW ...can't wait...I reckon Montesa will be a STONKING four stroke...maybe the BEST??
-
SO....are there any details on the Montesa four stroke yet??...Would love to see some specs/piccies.
-
Hey..Scorpion..I like your style...you just need to tile the dining room floor now...and bring it in ALL the time. Luckily my wife is VERY bike tolerant..and the bike is OFTEN in the house...sure beats looking at the TV!!!
-
dabarama...the wife and I are planning to go to Puerto Pajares on July 25...can't find out myself yet..but I think its not TOO far to drive from Santander...(if you take the ferry)...or not TOO far to drive up from Madrid (if you fly). DOes anyone know if we need to buy tickets in advance??
-
Motul is VERY popular here in Hong Kong. I've used Motul for fuel/oil mix and it was very good. Haven't used Motul gearbox oil but I'm sure some of my trials friends are using it. Should be fine...even for a lovely new Beta!
-
Hi Scott,,
How bizarre....I suppose those are from China...and I've never heard of them here in Hong KOng. My mate has a few bikes (ex military etc.) that he bought from China and I'm sure he'll know....so I will ask him if there are any tubeless ones.
-
Just wondered if anyone knows what the next Beta will be??
Another 2 stroke Rev??....or will they unleash a 4 stroke?? The 2004 model seemed REALLY good to me.....Can things get better still??
-
hi Marky G....there are a couple of cheap alternatives in Hong Kong,,if you want something posting out,,,I might be able to help. Sixes are all pretty small though (made for Asians!!) so its no good if you're a big guy. No waterproof jackets though..too hot here for that...but there are some fairly decent cheap trousers around
-
Hi Beta Boy...Since you'll probably want it sent air-mail, I suggest trying
www.bvm-moto.co.uk
Speak to a guy called Laurence in the parts department (01453) 762 743
They regularly send parts out to me in Hong Kong, and have so far, been VERY reliable. GOOD luck.......and to all you cynics out there.....NO, I'm not on commision!!...I just think when you get good service (pretty rare these days)...shout it from the rooftops!!!!!!!!
-
I've been looking into buying an SY125...BUT I then heard there is a 160 version..which I would probably prefer to consider...and now someone has told me that in March?? there will be a 200 version...(stilll 4 stroke)...does anyone know if that is true???
-
Never mind...got a couple of new ones on order anyway...BUT the thing I found here in HK the other day..worked pretty well...so I'll probably keep a couple of those for spare too.
BUT...its not an EXACT fit like the original one....so I'm glad I've still got some of those coming
-
uuuumm...Thanks Greg....I was hoping Santa would bring me an 04 model.
Obviously my wife didn't get all the hints..(more likely, the bank wouldn't give her that much money)...anyway...thanks for the repair tip....will be trying it tommorow morning..
Just found an amazing shop here in Hong Kong that sells all sorts of rubber blocks etc. NO silent blocks unfortunately...but some similar things...so I reckon I can do a fairly good bodge now..to keep me going till the REAL one arrives.
-
Thanks guys...thats some usefull tips. I have noticed my mudguard doesn't line up correctly!!...and I stopped picking it up by the exhaust ages ago....Just one more thing....what would be REALLY usefull now...while I wait for my new silent block to arrive...does anyone have any usefull temporary repair ideas??...I've tried just wiring it up...but it also needs something to fill the gap?
Thanks in advance....from the VERY amateur DIY mechanic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Just had the Silent Block break on my Beta. Yep...thats what its called...but to a simple guy like me..its a rubber mounting from the mid exhaust to the rear sub-frame.
Anyway....the reason I'm telling you Rev 3 people this...is because the replacement part doesn't cost too much...and I will ALWAYS carry a spare now...because its a right pain to try and make a bodge repair....(actually I cannot come up with one that doesn't leave my exhaust rattling around).
AND...apparently its fairly common for them to break.
-
My friend and Beta dealer here in Hong Kong, said that when she visited the Beta factory, they told her we MUST use the Champion plug. I found this strange...since I had been succesfully using the NGK equivelant.
HOWEVER...I just tried the Champion N7YCC in my Beta Rev3 250.....and it runs MUCH better.
Problem is I can't find any more Champion plugs in Hong Kong....anyone want to send me a box??
-
ALOT of people here in Hong Kong wear Airoh road helmets...BUT..I've never seen any of my trials buddies wearing one. I know the road ones are very cheap here...so I'll be having a check to see if anyone is selling the trials ones.
-
Hiya...Sorry, I can't be of any technical help...all I can say is it doesn't happen on my 2002 Rev 3 250. Good luck sorting it!
-
HI,,,Thanks Charlie...My pal here also recommended that...so I'll give it a try.
I guess best way to sand it down is very fine "wet and dry"paper??
-
AH!!! WOW!!...someone mentioned Sidis...although the Sidis we buy here in Hong Kong dont have a metal toe bit.
All I can say is Sidi TRIALS boots are EXCELLENT..comfortable from the off..VERY strong especially the stitched sole...absolutely NO complaints....I can NEVER understand why no-one in Europe appears to be wearing them. They're very reasonable here too.
I once owned ALpinestars here....NEVER again...Sole came off in no time (shop told me it was due to the humidity here....yeah right!!)....and they were bloody uncomfortable...Oh!,,and the buckle broke pretty quick too. I can only think all those World riders that wear them..must be getting paid well to wear them!...or they have plenty of spares!!
-
Just changed my fork seals ('cause they'd gone). Only to find a quite bad..but not TOO bad scratch on my forks that I'd done a few weeks earlier. Now that scratch seems to have already blown the new seal..only after 1 ride.
I tried to polish the scratch out...but doesn't seem to work.
ANyone else have any ideas??,.......OR ...havew a second hand fork stancion for sale.
I;ve been quoted 110 pounds for a new one...(which is probably -VAT 'cause I'm in Hong Kong)
Thanks in advance for any ideas.......(apart from dont fall off and drop your bike on the rocks......or get a fork protector!!!!......ahem!..which I will be ordering soon!)
-
Thanks Alan....will give that a look.
