  1. Marky G, Your mate with the Armstrongs isn't a Mr. Field is it?? Used to be a guy who owned a petrol station in Leominster...(near where I grew up)..who had an Armstrong or two (I think?) Any pics on your Scorpa yet??......dying to see those alterations!!
  2. Now there's an excuse to buy a new bike Dr Nick!!!!!!!!! I thought Champion were made in UK??? So where ARE they from...BECAUSE thats the other thing I forgot to mention. I can't get any here in Hong Kong...and I REALLY need some!
  3. Dont know if its 'cause of different climate here in Hong Kong, but on my Beta Rev 3 '02 model...a Champion plug works MUCH better than an NGK. I only tried it because the beta importer here, was told when she visited the Beta factory, that one must ALWAYS use a Champion plug. Interesting topic for debate eh! My engine even knocks a bit when I rev it on a NGK plug...but on the Champion it sounds like Montserrat Caballe!! Sorry..Dabster...I'm not disagreeing with you, 'cause I dont know much..I'm pretty new to trials..but thats how it seems to work here....probably the humidity or something??
  4. Hi Dabster, Yep..you're right..I'm such a cheap skate...Apparently there are some other good things about being in China too!!!!...the view is sometimes pretty good!!
  5. THANKS Wobbly I'll give them a try...yep..should be easy to get them fitted here. If I ever leave this place, I'll miss things like that....its SO cheap to get stuff made or fixed or whatever here
  6. Yeah James....you should definately keep an eye on them..else they'll pop out without you knowing it. Clarkp...yep you're right...and retapping the holes is something I HAVE to learn..especially with this Beta which seems to have a few threads that feel like they're made of butter.....SO...watch this space....I'll try and get the correct tools and get practising. CHeers all for you help
  7. HI Brucej///I tend to agree with you on one hand...BUT...THe dealer here probably only sells about 3 pairs of Sidis a year anyway...so I kind of feel happy that he at least stocks SOME trials stuff. ANyway...thanks for everyones help. Ridgrunr..........thats a very good idea!..so NOW my question is WHERE DO I GET GAERNE soles
  8. YEah...unfortunately anyhill, the Rev3 ones are NOT countersunk (BIG mistake I reckon)..techno way was better. I think that is why I'm having the problem, 'cause I keep catching the head of the nut on the corner of rocks..('cause I'm not very good at big steps!!) ALso..James is right, the nut doesn't go all the way through the frame. SO....if there are any more ideas...please keep 'em coming
  9. Cheers mrpip, I'll give it a try
  10. It's the latest in HKRc fashion!!! Actually..the observer just wanted to keep out of the sun a bit. I guess a whole cut in a cardboard box is a fairly sensible answer???? I suppose back in Blighty you'd need a waterproof box though!
  11. Thanks all... Especially Charlie..must have taken you ages to type all that. MUCH appreciated...and I'm sure its going to help loads. Only one thing I'm still wondering. I assume its obvious when I get the tyre off...but is there anything special I have to do to re position the thing that grips the tyre in place, or is it just do up the bolt again?
  12. HIYA.. Yep...I know ONE of the threads is damaged, but I dont think I could put it right myself. What are nylock nuts??...I'd love to know...and would love to know where to get 'em if they'll help the problem. CHeers
  13. Heres a good one for you...and I couldn't feel angry at my local dealer 'cause he's a really nice bloke. I asked him to get me some new soles for my Sidi boots...(i know for DEFINATE that they are available...even seen them in a factory catalogue from SIDI). Anyway...with a smile on his face he said...If I sell those, no-one will buy any more boots from me. GOOD POINT I said. ANd believe me..the uppers of SIDIS DO last for ever ..they are brilliant. SO>....my question is. DOes ANYBODY sell the Sidi soles????.........'cause I'd still really like to buy some!!!!
  14. Yep....a cardboard box with a whole cut in it.. We know how to be stylish in Hong Kong....(think that particular observer is a bit of a nutter though),, Or maybe he was dreaming of being on TV one day??

    Bash Plate

Hi all, My nuts keep coming loose at the rear of the bash-plate...(near the footpegs). I've even tried using thread lock..but no diffference. Does anyone else get that problem?? ANy ideas to solve it?? Its a Rev 3 2002 model
  16. HAPPY BIRTHDAY RAGA. So...if my wife and I were planning to have kids...we should try to plan for April....seems like lots of good riders are born then!!!!
  17. Hi all, Its time to change the front tyre on my Beta Rev 3 I've already done the back one..which was OK...but I've never changed a front one before. I assume the bolt things are to grip the tyre on??..so presumably I have to undo those first??....but presumably they are pretty fiddly on replacing the tyre?...Then I guess I have to be pretty carefull not to pinch the inner-tube with the tyre levers. If any of you can give me some advice I'd really appreciate it. THANKS
  18. There we go.....just seen the results from Bangor. The king of trials has prooved to us all again, that he's still in top shape. Well done Dougie
  19. Beta Boy....if I were you I would get them from BVM Moto....even if they're not exactly the cheapest. I get bits from them...and (obviously) because I'm in Hong Kong, they always take the VAT off for me. Never even have to ask them now they're used to me!
  20. Slight change of subject...Marky G...I'm eagerly awaiting some piccies of your alterations to the Scorpa 125....are they not finished yet??....if they are..then stop teasing us,,,I'm sure I'm not the only one waiting to see that lovely new fuel tank etc.
  21. Yeah..I know Andy...and I'm GUTTED...believe me, I'd go to Japan if I could...(ESPECIALLY this year!!!) BUT...to get time off from MY employers, I basically have to prove that I'm half dead or something!! Hopefully next time!!
  22. AAARRRGHHH!!!!! I WANT to go...it's just not fair!!!.....who was it that invented WORK...it allways gets in the way. Mind you..the cost of a 12 hour flight...also gets in the way a bit!!
  23. Thanks all!!!!..keep the ideas coming. I think the organiser will decide the teams..so that each team has a spread of ability. I think it should be good for the poorer riders..to get some help from their team members!...Thanks for all your advice...any more ideas are still welcome. Hopefully you can see the results/news here..if ANdy will post it for me. More soon!!
  24. Hi all... Our next competition here in Hong Kong, will be next weekend. We are thinking of making it a team trial (2 or 3 riders in each team). BUT we've never done this before in HK. If anyone has any advice...we would really like to hear it. THANKS in advance for any comments!!
  25. Was nearly 15 years out for me too Steve.....go on...get a bike...and (if you can)..get the most modern one possible. I've got an 02 Rev 3...and it feels MUCH easier to ride than the bikes I rode when I was a kid
