Just wondered...Is it possible to get some kind of vertical fuel cap breather for the Rev 3.....(like I've seen on some Montesas etc)
Because the breather hose on mine, is always spitting out fuel onto my graphics..which then makes them peel off! Thanks in advance for any help.

THanks both...will use some silicone untill the new one arrives...which I'll order soon.

Hi all...
My bike was loosing oil when out for a ride the other day. FOund it to be leaking from the sight glass for the oil. SO tightened it up...but being a plastic thread..doesn't seem to grip that securely..so I'm guessing it might work loose again soon. I was thinking to use thread-lock or plumbers tape on it. Is that a good or bad idea...or any other ideas??.......thanks in advance

It probably depends HOW white it is. But dont panic..mine comes out SLIGHTLY milky every time. Probably because there is some condensation created in the engine??...and I think because of the very high humididty in Hong Kong. BUT as far as I am aware..it has done no harm to by Beta Rev3.....YET!!...I do change the oil about every 3 to 4 weeks though...as a precaution to the humidity here.

Hey..Richard...thats a bloody good idea!
I'll deifnately do that next time I've got the spacer out. If only there had been internet when I was a kid. You can learn so much on here, I needn't have bothered going to school!!
-
neonsurge....I'm probably being a right numpty here..but MAYBE that thing BVM-Moto sell would do the trick. It replaces the nut at the bottom of the float bowl (outside) and supplys a constant fuel. Apparently after some aggresive splats etc. the Beta sometimes splutters a bit. Thats why that thing was invented. I didn't buy one since I ride like a nancy!...anyway, I've noticed a similar thing on downhill with my Rev3..so I might give one of those things a try

Hi Kinnell
Thats interesting to hear. I did THINK about doing that (to get the old ones out) but thought it might damage that "step" on the end of the inner tube spacer. I will try the 14mm socket next time. I also thought about trying to find a thick/strong 14mm piece of plastic pipe. If I used that to hammer against the inner tube spacer, I guess it would all be tickety-boo

Here Here. What a nice bloke. My wife and I met Eric at the Spanish round of the Outdoor World Championship this year (Puerto Pajares). Didn't realise at the time,,,what a BIGTIME photographer he is. Really nice guy....and doing well for his age if he's really 72
So come on Eric..put a book together of your best shots over the years. Sounds like you've got some buyers for it already...including me!
-
Theres a guy here in HOng Kong with 2 TL125's.....Keep trying to get him to sell me one but he wont!!!
-
Kinell and Charlie.
Just did mine on my Beta Rev3. Its basically impossible to knock them out from the inside. Because the inside spacer has a little step in both ends that fits snugly into the bearing. So you just cant get behind it..like you would on most road bikes.
Obviously putting the new ones in is always easy, but you might want to come up with a plan to get those old ones out (on the Beta).
PS...I can get NSK bearings very cheap Mick, if your ebay ones dont arrive.
-
mcman...I bleed my Rev3 brakes (back and front) by feeding NEW fluid in from the bleed nipple (on the caliper)...using a syringe!!
THis works great as all the air rises (naturally) to the brake reservoir. Of course the fluid overflows in the brake reservoir, but if you use Dot 5 it dont matter...it wont damage any paint work etc. You can tell when the hose etc. is full of NEW fluid, 'cause it will be a slightly different colour as it comes up to fill the brake reservoir.
It's a piece of **** and best brakes I've ever had. ONLY tricky bit is making sure your syringe end is a snug fit INTO the bleed nipple.
GOOD LUCK
-
Yep...I had a TY175...wish I'd kept it too!..mind you..I'd rather be on my Beta Rev3 nowadays
-
Thanks hrc
Did the back ones yesterday...WIll do the front today. Bought a set of NSK bearings for about 13 quid (for 4)...not bad eh!
-
Mmmmmmm...
WIsh there were a few more ladies teams from around the AISA region
-
I THINK..its because 1965 was the first "modern" bike. A Bultaco....ridden and designed? by Sammy Miller. SO the "old" bikes are considered before that period.
Might be TOTALLY wrong on that..but I think I'm somewhere close
-
Thanks Richard..Are the front and back wheels the same bearings?
-
Hi all,
Just wondered if someone could tell me the size of the front and rear wheel bearings on the Beta Rev 3 2002. It would help me out, so I can pop to the bearing shop, BEFORE getting the old ones out.
Thanks in advance for any help
-
I'm assuming that price is for the 4stroke Sherco.
In which case..the Montesa would have to be ALOT better in my book...to warrant an extra 700 quid!!
-
Thanks everyone.. I will check to see if the crank case states the ammount of oil needed.
Would still be good to know how much fork oil I should put in.??
CHEERS
-
Lets all keep buying the 2 strokes then!!!...although I dont blame anyone buying the 4...they all look great..but well out of my price range too!
-
Yep..thanks for the pic...It looks like that...BUT it has a white frame...and white front forks. Sorry my pic doesn't work..cant work out how to post it properly.
And yes..it is a bit of a dinosaur...BUT...it still works!!
-
Hi all,
My mate has just bought an old TY250.....(THINK it is a 1983)..will try to post a piccy.
ANY info would be very usefull. Like what fuel to oil mix is best. How much fork oil is needed. How much gearbox oil is needed etc.
Thanks in advance for any help
-
BETA USA are obviously VERY smart!!!!!!!!.....Bravo.....what good PR that is for them. Why can't more places be like that...would be nice if Hong Kong took a leaf out of that book
-
HK prices almost like UK ones...now that the euro has got stronger
-
What was 04 price then??..sorry I'm clueless to Uk happenings!
