  1. I'm due to go in for a shoulder replacement(copeland) shortly due to severe osteoarthritis, what I would like to know is, has anyone else has had this operation and managed to get back on a bike? How long did it take, do you have any tips on pre/post op treatment, exercises, slings etc? For info I'm 39 ( which is young for a replacement apparently) and will be treated by Professor Len Funk.
  2. Looks like they've gone too far lightening the works 4RT, it now takes 2 of them just to hold it down!
  3. I'm just about to start restoring my recently purchased Montesa 330 and one of first jobs I was looking to do was get the wheels rebuilt with stainless spokes and whilst split get the hubs powdercoated. Obviously this has been before and I would appreciate those of you who have had wheels done to share your experience's with me and any recommendations would be welcome. Thanks
  4. Just back from Fort Bill, and I'd have to say that Ishy has it spot on. Fajardo & Bou apart the other Spaniards didn't seem to settle to well. Bou is simply something else, the two 5's he had on section 6 were as soft as you'll ever see, one for breaking the tape when dropping in and the other for rushing the end and the back washed out on him, Dougie was graceful enough to acknowledge this. Dougie was superb today and I hope he can replicate this tomorrow when the others may up their game. Interesting to see them refuse to ride section 3 after Raga had dislodged some rockery, Raga quite rightly pointed out to the observer that the rocks should not be moved, so the rest simplt refused to ride it! A touch unfair on Raga. Anyway, good day had although I'm not sure they had the crowds the event deserved or the organisers had wished for.
  5. I wasn't there so perhaps it isn't fair to criticise the organisers from afar and I wasn't aware that weather had played a part.
  6. It looks to me like the British Champs and maybe trials in general has lost touch with reality, I'm all for pushing Dibs, Michael Brown and Wiggy to prepare them for a World Championship assault but the facts are: Shaun Morris only got through 5 sections Gary MacDonald dropped 133 in the expert class which is a class down, not prepping lads for the the worlds Dan Thorpe dropped 151 in the same class Only one rider was in double figures in the whole event! May be I'm stuck in the past (I'm certainly past it) but I rode a lot of British rounds in the late eighties early ninties and was riding the same course as Steve Saunders Steve Colley, Rob Crawford etc who were competing in the World Champs at that time but was able to attempt every section (maybe rose tinted spectacles are clouding my judgement here) and have a good tough days trialing. Just where is trials going?
  7. They're different, off the top of my head the TYZ has a completely ally construction and has a shorter hose to the remote reservoir, not sure if the eye to eye length is the same, definitely better shock on the z.
  8. Eddie, You might be lucky if you ask about, maybe stick an advert on Wobblie Will's and on TC'c classified, I have a brand new pinky tank in a box for my TY which I will be sticking on when I can start riding it again, the point I'm making is that if I have one stashed away then some else might also have one and no longer have a TY to stick it on. Just to clarify this is in no way an advertisement for me trying to entice you to buy mine as I will NOT be selling mine! As regards sealing, I've heard about attempts to seal the inside of the tank to prevent fuel vapour escaping which would allow painting but I don't know how successful this is over time. Regards Hughesy
  9. Now then Miss Marple, you've only gone and blown my cover! Note to self, update profile to reflect current residence!
  10. Thanks for all the replies so far, keep em coming. I was going to use insulated metal profile sheeting on the roof as I've never been convinced of felt. Planning in Scotland differs slightly from England & Wales, Permitted development is complicated up here, I'm just about to send off my completed questionnaire to Perth & Kinross council, to see how it goes. When I spoke with them on the phone he insisted that if the building was within 2M of a boundary then I must have Planning Permission irrespective of size! This sounds like a load of B*****ks to me otherwise every shed in the county would need retrospective planning! Anyway the questionnaire makes no reference to how far the new building is from the boundary only how far from the house. I was definitely going to put security loops in the floor, unfortunately/fortunately I'm no longer in the RAF as Tornado towing eyes were made for this job! Hughesy
  11. Not sure if there is a more appropriate forum than this General one but here goes, I'm looking at building a new Garage in the garden to free up the integral one for a new bedroom, having built a block and concrete tile roofed one before and suffered with terrible condensation problems I was looking at building a substantial timber one. This would be constructed in a similar method to a timber frame house with 100 x 38mm CLS, then ply lined with a membrane and finally timber clad. Has anyone any experiences good or bad with this type of building? I found this company in MCN who supply ready built garages which would save me building the panels: Warwick buildings This is type of thing I was thinking of 5.5 x 4.0 M Garage Image Any thoughts welcome Cheers
  12. Here you go: http://pagesperso-orange.fr/enduro/trial/ Great trial, still relatively cheap despite the euro/pound exchange rate. Even cheaper if you shop at Tesco and use your clubcard points to pay for le tunnel!
  13. Looking good! Loving the yellow frame, don't go scratching it with them straps now! What forks have you used, Fantic? Why did you choose these over Yam Mono forks? Did you get new rims? Keep us updated.
  14. From what I can recall 38V is early type R and 4AJ is a pinky type R, the other one I remember is that a 59N is an S. Although this is off the top my head so I may stand corrected! I seem to remember almost buying a mono from Aberfeldy a few years ago and the engine and frame no's didn't match, I left it where it was!
  15. Jimpo, website is here http://pagesperso-orange.fr/enduro/trial/ Loads of camping available, a few gites locally too. Top tip, save Tesco clubcard points.
  16. The price of vanity 500gms! Bargain! I'm unable to look good, so the next best thing is to make the bike look good If it wasn't in my Camelbak, the weight of the extra fuel would be in the standard larger capacity tank, the best bit though, is I'll take the Camelbak off for riding sections, so I'll actually be saving weight! It's not like it's the Scottish or anything, the French 4 day as you know Dabster, is a relaxed affair with time to have a laugh and enjoy yourself. The bottom line is that after spending that much on a tank I really can't bring myself to put the standard one back on!
  17. Daft? I'm not the one leaving a post on here at 6.35 in the morning Dabster!
  18. Thanks for the replies guys, flat tank it is then and a fuel bottle in the camelbak.
  19. Hi, I'm off to ride in the French 4 Day again in a couple of weeks and was wondering whether anyone rode last year and used a flat tank, if so how did you manage for petrol? I remember seeing a pic in YOU HAVE USED WORDS OR A PHRASE WHICH ARE NOT PERMITTED ON THIS WEBSITE. PLEASE DELETE YOUR POST/TOPIC. DO NOT TRY TO CIRCUMVENT THE FILTERS IN PLACE ON THIS WEBSITE of Dave Pye riding last years event and would like to know how he managed for juice. I'm relectant to put the old tank back on but don't want to be pushing a Mont with a flat tank! That said I do plan to carry petrol in my Camelbak.
  20. I bought one of these pedals recently and am really pleased with it. It's shorter than stock but thanks to a large folding tip is still easy to find with your foot, you have to press a little harder due to the slight loss of leverage but you still have more than enough power. I believe that H&D used to import the pedals from the US but now have them manufactured here in the UK, the quality of machining and attention to detail is first class and justifies the price tag. Hope this is of some help.
  21. I'm currently using an asterisk Cell Knee brace after 2 ops on my right knee ( ACL reconstruction - Patella Graft, medial meniscus repair, partial lateral meniscetomy & chondroplasty of lateral femoral condyle) and I can't remember the last op notes! Anyway back on topic, the astrisk is a quality well built brace which appears bulky at first, but you can't tell you're wearing it when riding, it also has adjustable hyperextension protection and the knee cup is removable. I bought mine off ebay via the USA and think a pair cost me

    07 Cam

Cheers Windlestone, I was under the impression the 07's and 08's had a different cam, but the part No is the same. I presume that all stock held in with that part No is now 07/08 spec, didn't Mont used to have superseding part numbers ie changing the last group of numbers to incorporate modification/improvements? Anyway thanks again for taking the time. Hughesy

    07 Cam

Can anyone who has an 07 or 08 Mont have a look in their part book for me and let me know part No of the cam. Thanks in anticipation Hughesy
