  1. They are vents - so yes, the connected hose should definately have a hole.
  2. To help reduce the abrupt bite of the clutch, try the GM autotrak instead of ATF-f. Will help. If thats not enough and want a nice light pull with a very progressive enguagement - try one of these lighter springs. http://www.jackscycles.com/lpse.html.
  3. When I 1st read it, that description was confusing to me as well.
  4. The problem with the GG manual is that it says to use 550ml of tranny fluid....Later in the manual it tells you to fill by the sight glass indicator. Hence all the questions regarding this matter.
  5. Are you sure these fit a std head? I interpret the Trials Direct description to mean they will fit the Pro cylinders, but you need the top half (STARS type head) to go with it.
  6. You have the right screen name for "filling" tips... Another tip for clean oil changes - whenever you happen to have the clutch case off, make sure you remove the spring and wipe it out. The underneath, cupped side of the spring acts like a big catch basin of any aluminum particals/plate material. (dont forget to lay the bike on its side whenever replacing the case.)

    New Ossa

I think the use of the USD forks were a natural theme choice to reflect the radical departure from the norm. In a way, its created a great distraction as folks argue the merit of USD or replacing the forks instead of some of the bigger issues.
  8. 380ml to 400ml is fine on a PRO. When you drain it, lean it over on to the shifter side so the oil in the clutch compartment can get into the tranny and drain out completely. ATF-F, dex 3, or GM Autotrack II is common depending on how fast/grabby you like the clutch. If your 03 has the original clutch plates, I would expect some drag from plate swelling - the newer clutch plate materials are more stable. A 06 or newer clutch spring (failrly cheap) will make your clutch much lighter pull as well and a worthwhile upgrade IMO. The Pro crank bearings are lubed via the tranny fluid, so make sure you change it often to keep it clean- especially if you ride alot of sloppy wet events. Plenty of riders run a 100:1 premix ratio w/o any issues. Many still stay with 80:1 for peace of mind. Just make sure you use a good synthetic oil. As far a Octane goes, you need enough Octane so it doesnt detonate or ping. In some countries, they can get 98oct pump and works fine. Add race gas to pump gas until you are good 25/75 race/pump works for me, many use 50/50. Or, go with straight race gas if you prefer. Try playng around with the ratio's and see what you think. I personally dont like the strong smell of straight race gas, its more $$ and I didnt notice any benefit. Many of my friends swear by it. Go Figure.

    Evo 250 Or 290

I would really try and ride them both. I would normally say the 250 is better for ANY novice rider, but I find the 290 to be pretty smooth and easy to ride. You really need to judge for yourself. Maybe a shop that has both will let you try them in some sections provided your going to buy one.
  10. Just dont slap or stab at it. Instead, make sure you place your foot on the kicker and press down until you feel resistance each time you kick. This will ensure that the Kick start pawl is enguaged with the idler gear. At that point, you can give it some gusto. Best if you are well leveraged above the KS and can use your weight. I try and park my bike so the KS is on the downhill side - just to make it easier kick through. Using this process, you shouldnt have any problems. Here is a technique that Jim Snell subscribes to that minimizes the shock to the KS components. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QdM4qkAqywk...re=channel_page
  11. I am willing to pay double for quad vents!
  12. They are a Keihin copy. Have heard good things about them from some very good riders/mechanics who switched to them. There was a comparison test written by Senior Blanco on the Todo site a few weeks back. He seemed to like it.

    New Ossa

As much as I'd like to see more technical information on the FI, Engine, Suspension ect.., I'd REALLY like to see some more company info. Production facilities and staff, Supplier agreements, Importers ect.. Given the target dates of manufactuer, I would have expected alot of this to be sorted out by now. I hope they can meet the stated timeline with a production launch thats as impressive as the bike - tough shoes to fill, but would REALLY love to see it.

I agree, in need of some graphics. - heres my hack at it - added some fork protection as well. http://s182.photobucket.com/albums/x197/ja...ssagraphics.jpg
  15. As Zilla said - either one is good - try them if you can. Note: The GG Pro 200's are 175's, the older Edition style were 160's.
  16. doesnt look too bad to me - any pictures of the drain plug covered with debris? Like they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. 2 thousand sometimes...

    New Ossa

Cannondale did it long before Yamaha. I believe Ossa did mention its been done before, but this is a 1st for a 2T Trialer application.

    New Ossa

Anyone know any info on the rear wheel? I havent seen one that has those nipple standoffs before - at least not on a bike....
  19. What Carb do you have - a Keihin or OKO 28 with a raga manafold block would wake it up on top. Or Pop a 225 kit on her...$$

Looks like they have the fan, fuel tank and air box up front? Can't see how everything is routed, but looks interesting for sure. I hope the FI works well, would love to see direct injection on a trials bike in the near future.
  21. I guess in Texas, it would be in our neck. I remember I was in ElPaso and ended up driving two hours to get a steak - The people who took me thought nothing of driving that far. (was a great steak, so it turned out to be worth it) Mike is a great trials resource, but I doubt he stocks many different brands to try on and check out- I think only Shiro.
  22. Heres the thread where I got the info from. Couple of sizes were mentioned - one guy bought several. http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=829866
  23. Unfortunately, As you have found, there arent any dealers in your (our) neck of the woods that stock a large assortment of Helmets. However, dealers can drop ship you a helmet that you select on style, type, budget and a few head measurements. What you save in Gas $$, you may risk in return postage. While it would be great to go try on 4 or 5, like in the UK, you can still usually narrow it down fairly easy and try your top choices via mail order.
  24. Glad to here you got it sorted.
