2011 EVO
Has anyone measured the quantity required to achieve the height level spec quoted in the book?
How many cc's have you added?

I have had two caps now, both have allowed an unacceptable amount of fuel to spill, especially when descending. I have not been filling the tank in an effort to lessen the problem.

Does your Evo P##s fuel out of the cap overflow?
Has anyone found a remedy for above?

Carried out the mod last night.
Close examination of the friction plates revealed a small continuous raised lip of metal that runs all around the plate at the inner bottom edge of the friction tabs and across the gap in between, possibly there to help alignment during manufacture? As well as removing the glue, I filed the raised lip flush and then put a small chamfer all around the inner circle of the metal plate.
Sorry if this is mentioned in the PDF, but I skimmed it.
Results are amazing

Used to get one in the Yamaha tool kit, I have ground one to fit a Beta.

Yes, I adjusted the forks as per the weight related instructions in the hand book. That done, I felt the rebound setting was over adjusted, so I backed it off by 50% of the recommended amount as the forks felt a little dead, prior to adjust the front end was very "lively" but gave me the feeling that they would bottom out. Pre-load ok, rebound, not sure, I need to ride it more to decide if it

I have a red spring on my bike - from Lampkins. When I fitted it I set the spring length to the same as the original black item,140mm, I found the ride a little harsh, so I backed off the pre load off a little with shock in situ, approx 1/3 of a turn on lock rings - I am now more than happy with it.

Chris, I have read your posts regarding your Sherco with great interest;
I was faced with a dilemma, I owned a 2009 Sherco that I truly enjoyed riding, I felt I wanted another Sherco, but the feedback I gleaned from 2010 owners via the forum and at trials plus the relatively low second hand price put me off of the newly configured model. I waited for the 2011; the situation did not seem to improve. Unlike you I did not fall under the temptation of a sexy looking ride that would ultimately prove disappointing. I hung on to my 09 until I was completely satisfied that a bike that would suit my needs was available, a 2011 Evo 290.
I am worried that you are about to make the same mistake again

I have a 2011 290 Evo. Like yourself I am

The last time I removed factory stickers I tried the heat gun method, it left all of the sticky on the bike. I enjoyed much better results pouring a kettle of boiling water over the sticker to be removed, it came away with the glue attached.

Hi, recommendations please:
Best fitting frame protectors for a 2011 Evo.
I have purchased similar items in the past for other makes of bike and spent the afternoon chopping them about to achieve a good fit.

Well what a good weekend seeing some old friends and observing at the Scott. As ever the auction and presentation was truly enjoyable, Big John was on great form, great entertainment and a job well done, many thanks to all involved.

30 years late..........
Actually observing, found the start hard to find in the fog last year, rather let the magic box guide me in.

Can anyone supply a post code for sat nav use that will take me to the Scott start area?
Thanks,
Fred.

I want to replace the swing arm stickers on my 09, the bike looks fine apart from chips in the brittle stickers fitted from new. I note that the adhesive residue left behind when small pieces of the sticker comes off appear to well bonded to the frame and I expect that when I remove the originals a large amount of residue will be left behind making it awkward to fit new items. In addition I am considering fitting smaller stickers from another model, so I would have to clean off any exposed old adhesive. Any one cleaned up their swing arm successfully? What cleaner/solvent did you use?

As I said in my post it is a dealers own blend for Montesa. Bike now engages 1st smoothly with no bind after standing for a week, it had not done that from new even after trying 4 different oils at point of change.

Just replaced the gearbox oil on my 09 290. Prior to change selection was a little stiff, with bind from cold that appeared again after a long wait at a section. I opted to use a lube recommended by Munch at msport, (his own blend?), for Montesa as we had residue left from changing the oil on my lads Mont. I have to say the results are excellent, the clutch and selection has never been better.

Have to agree with the water treatment suggestion. I like to use excessive wd40 on my bikes, always ruins the brakes. A quick warm up and purge turns them back on.

Pour a little on to a news paper. petrol will evaporate leaving oil patch. That said I would put in the mover, wifes car, bonfire etc rather than my bike.

In answer to the above;
Chris: Yes thanks, beer and food famine over, although other team members fell ill at the end of the week and shortly after returning home. All admin staff for the UCI world cup are staying "there" 1st week of June, could be interesting if downhill competitors are to, result could be effected as loos are by the finish line.
Tube type: No! For some time I was a Trials dealer and sold stacks of IRC

For some time I have been a fan of and used IRC rear tyres. Recently I purchased one to fit my son
