  1. Even a clown has to practice his trade
  2. QUOTE wonder boy No there was more problems with them thats just one about the main bearing there was more i think during the week] GAVIN!! you know sweet FA about trials bikes, or trials if it comes to that, how many different trials bikes have you ever owned, and how many trials have you actualy ridden? close to one third of the entry went out of the ssdt this year. Now go to the results and workout how many bikes were entered, how many of each brand, how many completed the event of each brand, then you need to find how many of them were bike failures or rider failures. Some bikes have no chance when a rider who is late cranks it on until something gives, these bikes are not road bikes and cannot sustain wide open on the road for long periods of time. Don't give me this I was told this or that, the bike you saw didn't have any oil in it, was that the bikes fault or the riders fault for not checking before they began the hardest trials event in the world. Also take note many of the bike failures are by riders who are riding the event for the first time and have no clue what they are about to put themselves and thier machine thru, the riders who know have a lot less problems and failures because they know how to prep the bike and look after it to make it last the week. Out of 280 starters some of them will not make it, make sure you have got your facts right before you make dumb statements like the one above.
  3. I wouldn't worry about all the new technology like the fuel injector, they are very simple, a sensor tells the crank position for timing and a sensor tells throttle position for duration of fuel delivered, if the throttle is full open then the injector stays open longer to deliver more fuel, the sensors are just on of switches. I don't think it will have a battery for starting rather a capacitor that holds a small charge to prime the fuel circuit. The biggest problem will be when the do it yourself man thinks he can tune it better than Honda and knackers it up.
  4. I have received some info today that says that pictures of the bike in Mont clothing will soon be posted, and the exhaust you see is a heat shield and the actual exhaust is under it. I think the bike looks the part and it won't be long until we see them in the flesh, it's now up to the other manufacturers to make something as good or better.
  5. I would think a number similar to HL's live chat posts
  6. Arriving at the parce ferme sat noon I went to the sherco factory truck to get my bike, a brand new sherco 2.9 belonging to US importer Ryan Young, and on loan to me for the six days. This bike was straight out of the box nothing done to it at all, I took the lighting system off fitted the RYP harness eliminator and a kill switch, then checked all bolts were tight fitted a front mud flap and took her for a test ride. I rode the bike for two hours steady 5 mile up the road, rode a few easy sections and then back again to the park ferme, I adjusted the levers and bars to my preference and rechecked all was tight, put duct tape under the rear fender and alongside the fender by the airbox to keep water out and that was it. I checked the bolts and filter each day adjusted the chain but nothing was replaced except a bent gear selector and a set of rear brake pads, running in deep mud and water all week none got into the airbox and the bike ran flawlessly all week on the same rear tire and air filter. A big thanks to RYP for the bike, 180 sections and 530 miles later it still ran like new. Pictured! last group last day the RYP sherco still on song.
  7. Team LOFTAM USA Trev rode two days with a fourth and a third, and the old man just rode the first day, no sore knees for me Perce, p****d in with 12 points to 22 of the next man
  8. Coming into the harbor, right in the middle of downtown Victoria.
  9. Taking the ferry from Port Angeles USA over to The rock
  10. A few pictures from this weekends trip to Vancouver Island.
  11. Didn't really think about Dicko's veiw untill he brought it up in this story, he does make some valid points. http://www.tmxnews.co.uk/ViewArticle.aspx?...rticleID=790281
  12. No mention on the ssdt forum about the cracking ride James Lampkin had last week, he was fair chuffed when he got up on stage to get that third place award, well done James.
  13. I blew past the turn off, didn't know until the last fuel check and had to go back, getting dark and rushing. Also saw lads on thu miss a group on a moor, didn't know until they got to the next group of sections, they rode back and did the group was a fair way back and cost them a lot of time! there is a difference in cutting the course to save time and genuinely missing a marker. The clerk of the course is smart enough to see what the concerns were at this years event and I have no doubt he will tune it in and make the alterations for next year to get the time and course right, a few new sections and bits of new moor took a bit longer so made it a bit tighter on time. I liked the new sections and moor crossings and once they are dialed in will make the event even better, this years event was close and I expect it will be better for 05, I will have my entry in hopefully on a new four banger, it can't of been that far off!! most who posted want to go back next year.
  14. Looking at the second picture of Grimbo, that's one hell of a mobile antenna sticking out of his back pocket.
  15. But they taste good in a fine orange sauce
  16. After doing test on the soil samples off the filter we decided with the mold present it would be best to grow I nice crop of ****ake mushroom.
  17. Adrian Lewis sent me the picture a while back, it's the new self boring technique, run this way over a period of time the motor will oversize the barrel at no extra cost to you the punter, keep in mind if you leave it too long water starts to seep through the cylinder wall and puts the flame out. In our next post we will show the much awaited how to grow spuds in thi filter topic.
  18. I can't get ower the 400 quid for a van on the ferry, the equivalent ferry trip ower here would be to Vancouver island, that's 35 quid. Can see lads doing it for a summer vacation once in a while, but having to do it regularly no wonder a young lad can't mek a go of it.
  19. If the boots is not correctly installed and is only checked on new years day, there could be a reason for the bike running rough.
  20. What I hear is the Sherco plastics aren't ready, me thinks on a prototype they make all that one off anyway so more like the machine isn't ready or too big a risk for a first time outing six days and all eyes on it. Word is we will see pictures of the Mont from the Japan round, but no FIM rules stating when the emission laws have to be met yet, and that is what the rule is, not all bikes have to be 4Ts, A FIM trials official did say to me the rule would be implemented in 06, does this mean 05 06 indoor or start for the 06 outdoor championship I don't know. Some think they can make their two strokes meet those emission standards, will they build a de tuned bike that can and try and run another in the WR that's can't ? meaning! will we see testing equipment at events The plot thickens and if HRC can produce a bike as good as or better than a two stroke it wouldn't be a smart move to introduce it too long before the rule is implemented as it is easier to copy than start from scratch. This is not a simple rule change, but to police that all new trials bikes meet the emission standards in 06 is going to be an hell of an hard task for a sport so small.
  21. Well Dabsters youth club seem to have got this well covered
