  1. i broke the breather nipple on my 05 gasser in the same way yours has gone , i drilled the hole out a bit and threaded a grease nipple in, put the breather pipe on there, seems to work okay
  2. hi, anyone on here got a set results for hillsborough mcc's trial at gibraltar rocks a few weeks ago they can e-mail me, i didn't fill in an envelope, and despite phoning the club and looking on their web site am having no luck finding any, cheers
  3. i've put head spacers on 2 gassers and not had any sealing problems, i put a bit of silicone grease in the o ring slot to hold them in place when putting the head back on,maybe this was the problem the other guys have had?
  4. hi mate, i've got a head spacer on my 250 pro, which lowers the compression without altering the port timing, which apparently happens if you go the base gasket route, head spacer is about
  5. i was told that if you leave the inserts in it makes it too fierce, the power delivery is like an on off switch, it's a bit like that if you don't put a flywheel weight on as well, i'm sure there are other people on here that can give you the proper technical description, something to do with reducing the crank volume too much for the bigger piston or something like that

    Mudguard

i've found the best way is to modify my riding so i don't flip the bike therefore avoiding snapping the rear mudguard!! hope this helps
  7. hi Jan, jetting remains the same supposedly, although i put a bigger main jet in my daughters bike i think (40 pilot 115 main, 04 pro) using the standard phbl26 carb, weld on flywheel weight is also advisable as they are a bit fierce otherwise, was talking to a guy the other week who had one done at gas gas uk and he had 2 flywheel weights with a spacer for the plastic cover, as well as calming the engine down the weights also stop the bike stalling so easily, i put a slow action throttle on as well, hope this helps steve. (oh almost forgot, you also need to leave the plastic inserts out of the crankcasing, you can if you want it to be really soft put a head spacer in, i have one but didn't use it)
  8. 75ml is good for most watercooled engines, aircooled engines require more oil 50-1 equates to 100ml i think, i use motul 710 fully synthetic
  9. hi mate, yes, i have bought a few things from trialendurodirect, (2 helmets at the world round were the last things) excellent servic & prompt delivery, also very knowledgeable staff, i've no doubt the service will be the same at trials uk

    Shock Blown

hi ian, a friend of mine recently outbid me for an ohlins on e-bay for his lads bike, perhaps he could nick that one and put it on his own bike !!
  11. i've got 5 gassers in the garage ranging from 2004-2007 and the only bad point i would say is the gearboxes tend to be a bit fragile, i've heard of a few radiator problems with the 2009 models (sides cracking, but there is probably a mod to stop this) otherwise they're probably no worse than the other makes, also heard the new evo's frames are a bit suspect, someone i know has had to have a new frame as his has cracked, i think whatever you buy if you look after it properly (regular oil changes etc.) it will serve you well and give you hours of fun.
  12. hello chap, i have to agree with copemech, i don't know much about the evo but the sherco and gasser will be too much of a handful for a novice rider, way to much power, best stick to a 250 or even a 200, these are far more user friendly and still have plenty of power for us mere mortals, just take a look at what the juniors get up to on 125's, anyway best of luck and happy riding
  13. hi all, have just looked at the tv listings on my vigin box thing and according to them the carlisle event is on eurosport 1 22.15 -23.15, not sure how right this is as they do seem to change things about a bit.
  14. this was the first world round i have been to, took my three kids as well (we all ride) and i have to say it was absolutely excellent, well organised, good sections and brilliant for the spectators, we all had a fantastic weekend. i did have a bit of a gripe about the cost beforehand but can honestly say it was well worth the money, especially after seeing all the work that had been put in, well done to all involved, will definately be coming back in the future if you host again
  15. cheers tom, appreciate that, looking forward to trying a new bit of land, superb scenery as well, i'm treating the wife to yet another outing with me, the kids and bikes, i hope she realises just how lucky she is
  16. hi, anybody know if it's ok to go practicing at hawks nest tomorrow (monday), i've only been there for the gas gas test day so don't know what the rules are as regards payment, how much, who to etc, also last stupid question, when i went earlier in the year i went with a mate who knows the way, i drove but didn't take that much notice as i was being guided so consequently don't know where it is ,der!! will be coming from leicester direction, thanks
  17. hi belldane, just been to southwest montesa looks as if it could be a useful site, cheers mate, steve
  18. red it is then,eh..... still got some in the garage if it's not gone all rubbery by now!
  19. hi, can anyone tell me if the 348 came painted yellow as standard? my youngest lad fetched my broken 348 (flywheel sheared off many years ago!!) out of the shed yesterday stating " i need a project, dad", now when i bought it years ago it was yellow but i decided to spruce it up with a nice new shiny red coat of paint, picking that colour purely because all the ones i have seen in the past were red, so i thought if we are going to revive it we may as well paint it the right colour, if indeed yellow is the right colour. I have a load of engine parts i bought off fleabay a few years ago in readiness for the big day, but would be grateful of any advice/things to look out for etc, many thanks steve.
  20. hi all, i have no particular opinions as to which is the right or wrong way to mark sections out, but we tend to do 95% of our riding at the same 4 clubs throughout the year (estc,p'boro, loughboro & pegasus) all of whom use the same flag system, red on the right, blue on the left and yellow and white markers in pairs for the easier route deviations, so we don't really have any confusion, but if we were to venture further afield then it would be up to us to make sure we were following the correct route, which i wouldn't have thought to be honest would cause that much of a pro blem, just have to keep the brain engaged all the time (mind you that does seem to get more difficult as you get older!)
  21. shouldn't that be kelsey grammar? in the context of this discussion!
  22. how can someone from a nation that spells "catsup" instead of ketchup get so fired up about someone's views on our quirky english language, and as for telling us to spend our time on english forums instead, another classic example of our american friends bossing us about! (only joking guys, i know we couldn't have won the 2nd world war without you, and that is a genuine comment by the way) so leys get back to some trials talk eh.
  23. yea but if ya wanna get daan wiv da kidz on da street an da yung uns on ere its da way 4werd innit man !!! take a look in the local paper, if it's anything like the leicester mercury you will see plenty of speeling mistakes.
