How did you come out on your wiring? I picked one up back in March and will be doing some maintenance soon. I will be replacing the spark plug so I will have the tank off. That's convenient!

Had a spare exhaust that was in rough shape. I had burned the sludge out last year when doing another one. I opened it up today just to look. The pics show that the packing was pushed to the back but the perforated holes are clean.

Has anyone recently got a DEP silencer? I just noticed one listed at Sammy Miller products but they are "out of stock" I emailed DEP USA and asked as their website said "not available at this time" But I got no reply. I was curious whether they made their own or if it's a re-badged WES? It would be a DEPY2919.

I remember having a issue like this only mine would start bogging down after a hard run between sections. After cooling off would start again and run for awhile. After searching this forum I tried the new condensor, and points while I was in there and never had a problem again. Maybe you have done that already and I missed that.

I vote condensor also! I had the same symptoms on the one I had and new points and condensor= no more problems.

I just had a email this week from Paul Cowley of Shedworks and he said he is making or has them in pink.

I am freshening up the top end on a 84 TY250 mono. After looking closely at the new rings, Yamaha # 38v-11610-00-00 I noticed that one ring has grooves or ridges running around the sealing face of the ring. I needed a magnifying glass to see them. Would this be the lower "oil ring" possibly? Other than that they appear identical.

Same as a TY80? DC plastics in the U.S. make a reproduction set.

I agree it is 22mm. I bought 2 22mm. nuts, drilled the threads out to just slide over a length of 1/2"rod and drilled through the nuts and rod and drove a 3/16 roll pin through and cut them off smooth. I have no access to a welder so that was my remedy which worked well.

I have one on mine. I have banged it around quite a bit. The only weak area is on the right side between the tank and the rear mount where the airbox "tube" is as I layed it into the rocks and it flexed in and some stress cracks resulted. I have a year of alot of use on mine.

As briefly discussed in a recent post, has anyone else fitted a Mikuni TM28 flatslide to a ty350 mono with success or not and what jets did you end up using in your region. I just put one on mine and changed out to a #145 main and a #40 pilot with the needle on the top groove. It's only been ran at a slow speed on flat ground in my small yard so yet to be tested.

Hey Bestrcpilot! If I can interfere? What was the model # of Mikuni 28mm that you used? Did you have to change the jet sizes? I would want to try one on a 350 so I'm sure that it would require different jets.

Tony Down has a page way back in his blog regarding about the same issue. If I remember correct there are some points that have a protective coating on them that needs to be removed. Hope it's just your cap though.

I am on my second "hand me down" Michelin comp x-ll tubeless on my ty250 twinshock with a tube and running at 4-5 lbs and sometimes so low I can not get a reading and I have never had any problems with it breaking the bead or seating. I have 2 rim locks which I assume came standard on them.

So after time how did it work out for you? As of 5 months now 1 of mine had 1 large bubble and the other stayed on well.

the shocks worked great on the muddy hills. The bike gripped well, I never would of made it up some of them with the old stock shocks on there. we will see again in the morning as it's raining tonight and I ride early tomorrow. i also run x-11 tubeless with a tube at 4lbs. It was a fun day!

I always wondered what the difference new shocks on a twinshock would make as far as handling etc. The stock shocks on my ty250a would sag the rear and bottom out easily but at the same time be quite stiff almost like running struts. I know most would recommend Betors, Falcons etc. but the $200-$400 cost just is not going to happen. So I came across a set of shocks from a 90's ke100. They had a what I would call a "looser" wound spring than the stock springs and were longer. Reviews of a ke100 said that the shocks were 'Bouncey". Anyway $25 dollars later and some drilling out larger of the bottom bushing they fit nice and do not have the sag in back. They are bouncey and so far it makes it easy to lift the front wheel up over rocks and logs. I will find out soon how it handles the mud as I have trials today and it's raining.

Well a follow up on the tank vht dye I went out to the shed just now and found a large bubble on one of the tanks! Hope I didn't mislead anyone. It worked much longer than fusion or any other brands but looks like a tank cover will be the only option. Sorry

Like I said it was worth a try for me and so far so good but it's only been 2 months but since the tank decals are bubbling and the paint is not I feel pretty good about it. I opted for the satin finish thinking maybe it would breath a little to let the fumes through but it is closer to flat with little shine. As anyone who has painted a plastic tank and had it bubble, once that starts its easy to go back to the aged yellow finnish.

I was considering buying one of the "tank shelters" as they are called but the shipping costs to the US scared me off, as thats what I paid for the whole bike . I had tried several plastic paints with poor results as they start to bubble and blister within 2 weeks.I even tried a very thin white vinyl film which also bubbled. Lastly I have applied VHT brand aerosol plastic dye in satin white on both of my TY's and let it cure with out leaving fuel in the tank for several weeks. I then applied the new decals which the decals are bubbling but so far "almost 2 months"with gas left in the tank still no bubbles but as I said the vinyl decals are. It was worth the $10 a can try but you can't get it at any auto parts store, I got it off ebay.

I agree with GII! I have been in that situation not knowing that when I layed the bike down that I hooked something that pulled the throttle cable out and did not return to the casing. A rolling bump start and here we go and you have to decide which control to give up, clutch or front brake. all three of my bike have them on the left side now. Just my opinion
