May 22, 20206 yr Hey folks, I just brought home a new (old) 2000 Beta Rev3 270. This is my first trials bike, but I've been riding trails for 15 or so years. I can already tell it's a handful! But I'm not scared (much, lol) I've been doing a fair amount of googling trying to find various sources for parts/accessories for this fine steed, but I'd like to get some advice from the well seasoned Beta gurus. One things is I'm trying to figure out parts compatibility. It's a 2000 model year, but what other model years have interchangeable parts? The 2001 seems pretty similar, just different color plastics? It needs a new rear fender, and the fork seals (inverted forks) are leaking a bit. Also wondering about silencers, hand controls and foot levers and all that typical stuff. Are those pretty specific to Beta trials bikes? Tires are pretty beat up too, but I'll limp those along for a little while longer. Also, and I KNOW I'm going to sound like a total goober, but this is also my first 2-stroke, so I'm wondering if there is a standard pre-mix ratio that's different from trail bikes. Are they all pretty much 40:1? Also, does the type/brand of pre-mix matter? Again, I'm a complete noob to 2-strokes. Here's the new steed, because I know the internet likes pictures:
May 22, 20206 yr Where are you based I have some old tyres that are barely used, that I changed due to age, the front Michelin isn't as good as the new one but the rear IRC doesn't feel any different, if you're near Ashford Kent you can have them for free

Appreciate the offer! The tires (tyres?) are serviceable for now, first priority is the fork seals and maybe a fender that I'll probably immediately break again. Edited May 22, 20206 yr by jbrandt
May 22, 20206 yr https://www.beta-uk.com/ is a UK Beta specialist - their website looks like it's being rebuilt as I write this, but when they are running they have parts diagrams for all years and you can compare part numbers to see if yours are interchangeable. At a glance, I'd say lots of them are but the forks and swingarm are different from my old 2007 for example. The oil mix is closer to 70:1 on the 2007. I imagine 40:1 would be too strong. May 22, 20206 yr Don’t know how postage would work out for you, but look up Richard Allen trials parts or trials bike breakers uk. Both good source of used parts if there isn’t anywhere similar near you. Definitely want 70:1 for oil, putoline tt trial pro or similar. Brake/clutch levers are pretty standard, available in usual range of colours, prices. Google search for rev 3 will show you plenty of choice to suit grimeca master cylinder
May 22, 20206 yr Unless silencer is wrecked you could clean it out and re pack it, not sure if the end comes off the Rev 3 to get old material out, roll of silencer repacking material is very cheap. 2 stroke silencers can get very clogged with unburnt oil.
May 22, 20206 yr You may struggle with the rear fender and air filters as they were peculiar to the 2000 and I think 2001 Revs. Ask me how I know!

Good luck - It will be great fun! Mark glad I checked. Thanks! I did some more searching and it looks like 70:1 is more for euro fuel, 80:1 seems to be a better spot for the US gas. Mark The problem with part number searches is that I know that at least the 2000 and 2001 fenders are different colors, so I'm sure the part numbers would be different.
May 23, 20206 yr The ratios quoted above are for synthetic oil, there is a different ratio for mineral oil but no one uses it. You'll also get more spooge if you use a high performance high burning point oil. It doesn't need to be a trials specific oil, but it's easier to buy it than to figure out the best alternative. Fork seals will be easy to find from any seal supplier, you just need to get the dimensions from the old ones.
