February 20, 200620 yr Does anybody Know where to get the pre-formed packing for my 05 rev3 rear silencer? Its been mentioned in a few previous topics. Could re-pack with the normal loose stuff, but, its always been abit of a ball ache.

February 21, 200620 yr Use the Rockwool based insulation. Costs peanuts and you get a huge bag the size of a person. Fold around a silencer baffle tube and tape with paper masking tape.
February 21, 200620 yr Always use the proper silentsport loose packing. A little tedious to use, but by far the best for response & feel. Transformed my 06.

February 22, 200620 yr I just bought the sheet kind...dealer reckoned that the pre-shaped one isnt as good anyway??.. I've used the sheet kind before and it worked fine.

February 22, 200620 yr Rockwool is 4inch insulation that we traditionally use to line the loft with - to try and keep some heat in our houses. Us brits hate the cold and we have lots of it. It usually comes in rolls, rolled up it's about 2feet high and 2feet diameter.

February 27, 200620 yr Rockwool is spun molten rock - not to be mistaken for fibreglass insulation. In simple terms, rockwool doesnt burn, its the accelerants added to it that burn (same as any retardant packing). We put it in very hot two stroke mx bikes. No issues. We change it very frequently to keep performance up. Weight is reduced quite significantly too due to the build up of oil in old packing. Also, if you pressure wash your bikes you will find the packing becomes water logged which in turn can cause rust probs. Fibreglass can melt and ignite with accelerants added.
