Time to go through the front forks. Has anyone had any luck with bearing suppliers getting the correct sized seals rather than getting the official Yamaha parts? I live in a large metro city with several good industrial supply warehouses. Thanks

I am looking to improve the front brake on our TY175 and am thinking of converting it to disc. I have been looking for a front end off a broken Gas Gas or similar. Have any of you chaps carried out such a mod and have you any advice? Thanks Eiger.

I'm currently using a ty175 with a WES exhaust fitted (no silencer box) For some reason it keeps destroying spark plugs (whiskering). So we have gone up to a hotter plug but still it destroys them it also doesn't run cleanly at the bottom end. Apparently the previous owner had the mains and big ends done and it was rebored to first oversize, however the piston currently fitted has square shaped skirt ports which i am told is the piston out of the yam dt as the ty pistons (which are apparently no longer available) have round skirt ports has anyboby got any knowledge of what plug or piston should be in the bike or any ideas asa to the problems we are experiencing many tha…

A fellow trials rider (a very competant one!) has a TY200 Majesty. Although the bike goes OK (he is also a good mechanic), he feels the standard airbox is limiting the performance. He has fabricated a replacement, but still thinks the airflow is stifled. Someone suggested fitting a 'boost box' (possibly from a DT175) Has anyone any experience of this? Thanks

does anyone know of a good site where I could find a stock 84 ty seat. The bike currently has a "puffy" enduro style seat, but I would like a small stock seat. The bike is a 350, but a 250 seat should fit as well. Thanks

Been having a little trouble shifting into first gear on my '74 TY250. Seems that I have to push down hard on the shifter to get it into first gear. It upshifts OK, not great, but it's the down shifting back into first that is the big problem. I noticed in the manual that there is an adjustment set screw on the clutch side where the shift shaft comes through the case and operates a little cog that aparently moves the shift forks. It didn't really tell what it adjusted or how to do it. Does this adjust the way the shift forks engage or the shift drum or something? Could my shifting problems be as simple as this needing adjustment? Any help appreciated. The gears don't gri…

I am in the process of preparing a Majesty 200 using an old TY175 as the donor to the Majesty frame, tank and other bits I have acquired. However I have just realised that the TY headset bearings are different to those that are required on the Majesty. The frame (I am reliably informed) is the Mini-Majesty type as the front downspars are straight and it uses the original bolt-on 'remote' TY footrests. Do any of you folks out there know the correct bearing numbers for the frame? I am getting desperate to finish the bike in time for its first outing on April 4th when I hope to be competing with an arch rival and a large sum of money is involved!! Eiger.

Hello I have recently acquired a TY175 with a Whitehawk frame. Apart from the tank decel it appears totally original including the one piece tank/seat unit embossed with a 'W', Thing is, I'd like to know a bit about 'Whitehawk', as in who/where/when etc. All I have seen is a posted pic from the original brochure. Any 'enlightenment' would be appreciated. Thanks Paul

Got a fresh bore, 1st over, and piston for the TY and was wondering what the best way to break it in will be. I want to do it right so I won't have to mess with it for a long time. I have other bikes to work on, this bike is for riding!!

Hey guys, A mate of mine has a TY 175 twinshock & wants to do some mods. It has to stay twinshock so we can still ride in the vintage class. Has anyone out there changed stuff like foot peg positions, steering angles, length of swing arms etc? I'm pretty new to vintage stuff (modifying them anyway) but any suggestions would be appreciated. He's already done the exhaust packing mod & taken off the auto oil feed to gain a few more bhp. Thanks Taff
