Just been looking at the FIM rules for trials and see the minimum weight for the bikes is going up 4kg to 70 kg in Jan 2014. What is the idea behind this? Is it a case of trying to slow down the evolution of trials by firstly altering the riding rules and now trying to tamper with bike development. With all the manufacturers releasing their 2014 models already and most being around 66 - 68 kg how are they going to make this work for the upcoming season?....Are we due to see the new factory replica models coming out shortly with forged iron swinging arms and stainless steel petrol tanks?

Very sad to read of Browns and Casales injuries. If browns injury is correctly reported he is likely to be out for 3 months or more, then there is the time after that to try to rebuild his confidence. Fujigas missed much of last year and even Bou was not exempt from injury. I feel the increased risk of injury is the inevitable consequence of ever lighter bikes, grippier tyres and more extreme sections. There is a trial on youtube (Germany I think) which shows riders riding across what looks like a concrete dam with a gap in it. No great skill required to ride across it but the penalty for wobbling off would be severe. Clerks of the course need to reduce the severity of …

OK so I was watching the FIM trials videos from MavTV and my wife was playing on her iPad and watching somewhat when she says, "Why does Toni Bou always make the really big steps and nobody else does?" I, of course, went into a long winded explanation about his conditioning and the technical expertise of Honda along with very deep pockets, blah blah blah... She wasn't buying it. She made me replay some of the big hits over and over in slow motion and full speed and said she didn't know what but something was different about the way Bou hit things. Well she is an engineer and there are things she sees that I miss so I started thinking about it. As we watched the replays on…

Section fails at Barcellona WTiC. Busto, Dabill, Karlsson, Ferrer, all failed every section, Fajardo only got through one section and Cabastany two sections. In the final Cabastany and Fajardo failed all but one sections each. I don't want to belittle Bou's (and Raga's) skill and effort, but thats not entertainment or a good championship, when most the riders can't complete a section.

Just watching and every section they show Karlsson on his Mont 4RT sounds like a 2 stroke.... I'm assuming (as no one written anything) this is very poor editing and montesa aren't slipping a 2 stroke back into trials.

Jorge Casales signed for Beta for 2015 season. Beta obviously doing something right. Lose Dibs and replace with the only genuine young threat to Toni Bous supremacy. Where does this leave Gas Gas?? Where will Raga go IF anything happens at GG that threaten WTC / X trial? Hope Casales does well, been looking immense over the last season

I have not seen any announcement of if/where X Trial highlights will be broadcast. A quick scan of the Motors TV schedule didn't reveal anything. Does anybody know if highlights will be televised?

If I travel to watch the July round in Andorra, will I need spectator tickets? If so where can I get some from?

I've seen WTC rounds in UK, France, Andorra, Czech Republic and Poland over the years but never have I seen such atrocious observing decisions as I witnessed this weekend. A few of the many examples Saturday section 4: Bou still for at least 4-5 seconds and bike stalled, got away with a 0 Saturday section 3: Ferrer given a 5 for the merest of stops, was not 'technically' stationary either Sunday section 8: Grattarola having the ride of the first lap and blitzing the rocks that most others (inc Bou) 5'd and got given a 5 yet, same section other riders actually stopped getting away with it. I see it's that time of year again to think about tickets for Sheffield indoor, haven't been for many years but think its time to give a visit again ( I went to the first) this time to take my 5 year old son. The big question is can you choose your seats when booking and where is a good area to sit (imagine too close is no good as too low) and where is a good place to stay close by? Any tips gratefully recieved.

Does anyone know if there is a DVD available from this years championship?? Nothing on Duke website so assume someone (FIM??) not given Duke distribution rights etc. Is there a Spanish / Italian etc version out there does anyone know?? Thanks
