Was thinking about modifying my carb(dellorto phbl)like is done when you install power-nows or powerblades. It seems that the idle circuit can benefit alot of this. Anyone tried this or done this or has any suggestions why not? The idea behind is that with slight throttle openings the big venturi avoids good airflow cause of the turbulence. By dividing the venturi with a powernow/blade the venturi is halved so creating better lineair airflow velocties, less turbulence, hence better atomization. Any comments? It is easily done by using a sheet of thin alu glued in the middle of the venturi... it is easily withdrawn also

R2's got some pics of a trial in Northern China, seems pretty hard. Be afraid. If the chinese take to trials they'll rule it. Imagine trials bikes coming out of China. Hopefully they'll be better than some of the rubbish they're putting out for the road.

Once over someone in the market for a new bike could go along to the local dealer and check out the bikes, if trials bikes were on show, the basic shape still looked like a regular motorcycle. Even if the punter thought he may give trials a try but wasn't that interested in the sport, he could still have a useful trail machine for casual riding. Now the bikes are so small and compact with no fuel range or possibility of sitting down on trails the only person interested is the trials rider, I have heard many times people ask can I get a seat and bigger tank for it. This picture of the Scorpa long ride shows you can have a full blown trials bike with larger capacity tan…

2 questions .... I have a Mecatecno 325cc which i am in the process of getting into tip tip nick. Although the engine is built by Mecatecno , Bultaco 325 pistons fit , just after a bit of wet and dry. 1.What piston clearance should i have ? My only problem is that the bultaco piston is not so tall and on TDC sits 5 mm from the top of the barrell. In order the get the piston up to the top of the barrell i'm going to have to mill down the bottom of the barrell by 5mm. My only problem then is that the skirt of the barrell at the bottom will not fit and will need grinding down by the same amount and some of the ports may not line up. 2.Has anyone any experience of doin…

Hi all, Just dug my dads Aprilia CLimber out of the shed for my annual terrified ride on the beast! Cleaned carb up etc , and first ride went fine...then on the second ride, the carby was playing up. DOnt think it could have got dirty that quick eh?? I'd used some 2 stroke oil that had been in the shed (already openend bottle) for over a year...just wondered if that is the culprit, maybe its gone off??.. I will of course give the carb another clean anyway, and I guess I should chuck that old bottle of Silkolene and start with a new one? Being a tight bugger, I just dont wanna chuck an almost full bottle of 2T away. SO.....should I chuck it or shouldnt I???

I have become a little curious about Enduros, What is the objective? I have heard that you simply go as hard as you can and face many sections with nearly unpassable lines. But honestly I have now Idea of the rules of this sport. sam

When signing on at a trial and the number 13 is offered, how many refuse to take it. Personally speaking I have no problem with riding number 13 and on the contrary think I actually ride better.

My SY250's headstock (I think that's the right name? I mean the pivot between my forks and the frame) is apparantly in need of tightening and servicing. From what I was told this should be a pretty simple procedure, but it requires you to know what you're doing to do it right. I had been waiting to take someone up on their offer of help, but after several weeks we still haven't managed to sort out a good time to do it. So... I was hoping someone here might be able to help! A explanation of what I might need to know in order to do this without prior experience, or just a list of pitfalls to watch out for, would be great. Are there any sites like Sheldon Brown for motor b…
