I need a cylinder repair and replate. Has anyone found anywhere that does a good job with a quick turnround. Also would i have to supply a new piston, or would they supply. The bikes a fantic 307 so its not likely they would get one from normal sources. Ive tried a few places but most are quoting 4-6 weeks. I think the only place to get a piston from is Bill Pye, but to send the barrel there for him to send away is going to take longer and cost quite a bit more in postage alone. I live in south cumbria and theres no engineering firms within a 100 mile radius

I was reading the Machanical forums on todo-trial, and see some poor lad submerged his new 4rt, barrel, exhaust, head, filter box, all full of muddy water. Should make this a poll, what would you do ? Kick the dog and Rinse it out and sell it, low hours, wife forces sale Go the whole hog and total rebuild replacing all bearings. I know from a number of technical articles on the web that rear 'Race' sag (race is a bit of a joke or terminology when it comes to trials riding) is advised to be set at 30 - 40% of total travel - ie anything from 60 - 70mm depending on what travel you have (150 - 170mm). I have set the rear sag to roughly this figure now my new (rebuilt)shock has bedded down. Rider ability - non existant - ie novice. Can anyone give me a suggestion for STATIC SAG - ie for weight of bike alone - I know everyone will say race sag is the important measurement but this will allow me to check the spring rate easily. Friends I feel I can say that after all of the posts we have been through lately. I have a problem. I am faced with a decision of choosing a sponser. I have been approached by Trojan Condoms and Viagra to represent them when I ride. Both have offered full sponsership with one piece clothing and money to boot. If it were you would you rather have one piece suit that had Trojan Condoms or Viagra blazened all over the suit. I feel that choosing Trojan as a sponser I would have some protection against other riders while Viagra would afford me a more upright type of riding style. I was surprised to read about James Lampkin and Ben Hemmingway on the front page as they swap jobs and bikes for 2005! As most folk will remember, Ben said that his WR ride at Moutier, Switzerland would be his last attempt. Changing bikes in favour of the new Montesa 4rt and minding for Dougie - does this mean he is putting his trials career on hold (temporarily)? He's obviously a very talented rider himself which makes him an ideal candidate for the job. Obviously James does a very good job with Dougie but maybe he's thinking about his own career now and wants to see how far he can progress. After a quick inspection I decided that my rear brake pads, while badly worn, had just one more event left in them. They didn't. Yep, it was a dumbass thing to do and after two extremely wet and muddy laps it was metal on metal time. Even more foolishly I pushed on and finished the event with an increasingly vague and noisy rear brake. Inevitably, the brake disk is now badly scratched although surprisingly, there aren't the deep gouges that I expected to find. If I simply chuck a new set of pads in there am I asking for more trouble other than an accelerated wear rate?

Playing with my other toy today, noticed that the throttle will stick open, but only while the bike is running, switch engine off and the throttle will snap back perfectly, done this every-time. Cleaned and checked every-thing, (twist-grip and cable are new and oiled, as is the handle bar end clean of any grime) and noticed that the slide and the inside of the carb (1988 Amal) has scour marks, do you think that this could be sticking with the air-flow from air-box to the cylinder ? Can carburettors be re-built or would it be more cost effective to buy a new one ? Gaff.

Right, The thing is my 02 gasser 125 pro, keeps dying out on me, has no bottom end power. Im selling my bike due to this, and planning on getting a 250. Surely this will have the bottom end power i need. For example, a section: Steep short drop down into river, turn at bottom of drop, over a few rocks, turn and up and out. I did it all fine upuntil the up and out part, after going slow on low revs over the rocks when i clipped the throttle bakc it just died out on me. Is it more cubic capacity that i need, or a mod on my 125??? Any help greatly appreciated Rich
