With the winter approaching the clocks went back and riders got a welcome extra hour in bed to ready themselves for Round 9 of the Peak Classic Trials Clubs Championship. With four rounds to go every championship point scored could be precious in the pursuit of class success at the end of the year. Rain had been forecast for later in the day but thankfully it held off until after the trial so the course was in prime condition and with the use of a piece of land that had been lost for some time we were able to lay out 10 sections to be ridden 4 times over a more expansive lap which resulted in far less queuing than usual at this popular venue. Just a reminder that we will be holding round 9 of the club championship this Sunday 28th at Stathams Farm opposite Matlock Golf Club start time 11.00am. Entries close at start. Classes for British Bikes, Pre85 Twinshocks and Pre95 Air cooled monos. As usual there will be routes for Expert, Classic Expert, Intermediate, Classic Intermediate and Clubman. Thought I,d just fire a quick thank you to the guys that run the club, yesterday's trial was bloody good, I'm fairly crap but really enjoyed the sections, hard enought to challenge but still managed a few cleans, just the right standard for me. I wish I had the time to help out, but working every sat and 2 young kids mean its hard enough getting out to compete ( and that's only 4 or 5 times a yr) never mind setting out a trial. Cheers guys, had a ball!

The country seemed to be waterlogged of late with most of the UK subject to heavy downpours this past week so when the Clerk of the Course, Paul Beswick, came to lay out the course for Rd8 of the Peak Classic Club Championship the recent adverse weather bore heavy on his mind. Because of this he laid out a 4 lap 10 section course bearing this in mind which with Saturdays drying wind proved to be a little on the easy side but this seemed appreciated by all the riders who arrived Sunday morning to find Cookes Wood, Youlgrave Nr Matlock in the heart of the spectacular Derbyshire Peak district in a surprisingly dry state. Sorry it's a bit late but the trial this Sunday is definately on. OK so we have had a drop or two of rain but will bear that in mind when laying the sections out on Saturday. So if you have a Classic British Bike or a Twinshock and are at a loose end for somewhere to ride this Sunday make your way over to Cookes Wood, Youlgrave and join the fun. Start time is 11.00am and there are classes for British Bikes, Pre85 Twinshocks & Pre95 Air Cooled monos also as always the PB Trialsport sales van will be in attendance for your trials accessories and comsumables. At the Consett trial this Saturday (29th) at Butsfield we will be running a route for beginners or kids moving from conducted route. Known as the "purple route" (yes we have run out of colours !) it will be an eased version of the easy route. For those that know the Richmond club easy clubman trials which run a beginners route it will be run along the same principles. Hopefully we will get both kids and adults, we will split the results into the two classes. It is the ideal opportunity to give trials ago if you weren't sure if you could manage, and the ideal step up for those kids who are a bit too good for the conducted route and feel ready for 'the big course'! The Northern British Bike Championship circus moved in to the Derbyshire Dales last Sunday for the penultimate championship round organised by the Dales Classic Motorcycle Club. With a 20 mile lap of eight groups of subs, the sections proved less challenging than anticipated with the forecast rain holding off until the last man was home. Apart from being a two-stroke, the BSA Bantam ridden by former racer Mick Grant is far removed from the 200 mph GP bikes of his hey-day. Mick used his latest mount to take his first overall win in this years Championship. I dont know if anyone else on here rode the 25th anniversary Dartmoor two day over the weekend,but I'd just like to thank Mike Naish and the SWCTA team for putting on a brilliant event over some lovely trials land.(Aptly named Paradise...) The sections were excellent,the variety of bikes was too,(Apart from there only being 2 rigids out of nearly 140 bikes) and the banter was top notch.There were many hangover stories on the sunday(Not me - learnt my lesson there,the sunday is always harder) If you have never ridden this event I think its one of the best - well worth a look if you can get an entry.

For those riding in the ACU Trail BIke Trial on the 16th September organised by the Stratford-Upon-Avon Club, the route card is now available to download from the clubs website at : http://www.stratford-upon-avonmcc.org.uk/ Entries for this event close tomorrow but can be submitted by email if you would still like to enter the trial. It will be a 75 mile route on and around the Cotswold Hills with 30 sections, suitable for trail/enduro bikes, the championship class will have six harder sections to give them a challenge. Morning everyone, Well, yet another Manx 2 Day has passed and we would love to hear from you. Good and bad experiences are very welcome as we continue to try and improve the event year on year. This year we had the Golden Jubilee of the Sidecar class in the trial and that was a great success. The solo's were equally as successful with yet another new name to add to the winners list of the National class. Well done to Robin and Sam Luscombe for taking the sidecar win and local boy, Josh Brain for the National solo win. The work for this years Charity 2 day (great North Air Ambulance) is well underway -This Year Sept 8 & 9th A huge amount of work has gone into clearing copious amounts of bracken (worse than previous years) in order to make this the best year yet, Woodhead farm, Fryup is a fantastic piece of land with everything any rider of all abilities will love - Rocks (big & small), streams, Woodlands & hills - The graded hill climb will be back this year. There will be between 7 & 10 sections that are brand new this year, along some of the old favourites. The event has grown year on year and we intend this to be the best so far. Regs are now out for the annual Sheffield & Hallamshire MC Merle Morewood Peak trial on the much earlier date this year of Sunday 30th September. The trial is the final round of the Luscombe Suzuki Leeds British sidecar trials championship and will also run separate routes for solo clubmen and experts. The trial is starting from the usual base of the Lafarge cement works car park in Hope, Derbyshire. This year the trial is a completely different format running 2 laps of 20 sections due to the loss of the Backtor group which normally provides a sting in the tail for most of the entry. With the Club Championship reaching a pivotal point with six rounds decided and six rounds still to be held a good turnout of riders turned up to contest round 7 of this year’s competition held at the ever popular Derbyshire Dales venue of Dudwood Farm near Elton in the heart of the Peak District. 4 laps of 11 sections had been laid out to test the skills of Expert to Clubman rider and all of the five routes and three classes had riders with a story to tell. There was tragedy and elation a plenty with some close fought battles to decide the class winners and with those valuable Championship points at stake the pressure was on. I know it's late but just a quick note as a reminder that round 7 of our club championship is tomorrow at Dudwood Farm, Elton, Derbyshire. Been laying out yesterday and today and there will be 4 laps of 11 sections to include the stream, grassy banks and the woods with a few choice rocks thrown in for good measure.
