  4. CAS Honda rider Ken de Dycker was a protagonist at the Grand Prix of Benelux that took place at a warm and sunny Eurocircuit in Valkenswaard today. The weather encouraged 25,000 fans to watch the opening event of the15 round FIM World Championship. The venue located less than ten kilometres from the city of Eindhoven presented the riders of the MX1 (450cc four-strokes) and MX2 (250cc four-strokes) series' with a fresh test as the course had been significantly altered since the last World Championship visit in 2004. Several new corner sections, a repositioned start-straight and a reversal of the track direction itself meant a novel opening Grand Prix tes…

Just received news that yesterday, American motocross hero Marty Moates apparently commited suicide. No details are known at this time. He was a USGP winner on a LOP Yamaha, and in the seventies was a contender in select european races on OSSA GP III machines. What a shame. I guess now Jimmy Pomeroy will have someone to practice with.

CAS Honda rider Josh Coppins has finished on the podium at the last two South African rounds at Sun City and won the event twelve months ago. For the 2006 edition the New Zealander picked up his third trophy and third set of silverware this season since making his comeback to the 2006 Motocross World Championship. With two second positions from the two motos today the 29 year old finalised the runner-up spot overall behind Stefan Everts and in front of Steve Ramon at the tenth round of fifteen in the FIM series. The Sun City circuit was again immaculate in its organisation. The resort, some 180km from Johannesburg and 1500meters above sea level, played hos…

CAS Honda rider Josh Coppins produced a startling return to World Championship action today at a warm and atmospheric Matterley Basin for the British Grand Prix. The eighth round of the season initiated the second half of the 2006 campaign and a rousing 39,000 crowd cheered Stefan Everts, Kevin Strijbos and Coppins to the podium. The Matterley Basin circuit was long, elongated and dry as the usually unreliable English weather had in fact been cooking the terrain for the past two weeks and planning restrictions meant that the track had to be hastily constructed in seven days. The layout divided opinion inside the paddock with some commenting negatively on …
