I have a 08 Beta 125. Runs perfect... untill you put it nose down or nose up. It then changes idle and fouls a plug. Within a matter of seconds. Any ideas?

My bike has recently acquired a problem with the shifter. When going to a higher gear, it shifts gears fine but the shift lever stays in the up position. It will go down to neutral position if I bump it gently with my foot. Once in neutral position again, it will shift into the next higher gear no problem but the shift lever still stays up. When shifting to a lower gear the lever will go to neutral position on its own. It dosnt make any abnormal noise or feel different when shifting and it was working fine most of the day, then out of the blue, it started acting up. Is it an ordeal to get to the shift mechanism? Can the shift mechanism be inspected and/or removed w…

A while back I decided to try fitting a pre-filter to my bike. I had a piece of 25mm thick coarse reticulated foam (ebay fish tank filter foam) that I'd tried to use as a baffle as described somewhere for SSDT prep - that never really seemed to do much so I thought I'd try a different approach for my drier conditions. I cut the foam down to 6-8mm thick and cut a few pieces shaped to fit under the filter clamp. Oiled and fitted. Works a treat! I check it fairly frequently and swap out when it gets grubby. The main filter stays far cleaner and swapping, cleaning and oiling the pre-filters is much quicker and easier than the main filters, and the piece of foam…

If anyone can give me some starting points or guesses, It's well appreciated symptoms: Bike starts well, idles perfectly for a long time. when start riding, usually during low revs, it just bogs and dies almost like is out of gas. when try to start again, sometimes starts right up, other times starts and bogs immediately! if it doesnt bog, it will rev all the way up full throttle but as I bounce it and low rev, she bogs and stalls again! actions: I changed plug (nothing changed) , fuel is clean , the feeding hose to carb is not clogged, I took carb apart and sprayed but did not disassembled the jets. what else to check other than doing a better job ( ful…

Hi there. I just couldn't adjust the tickover of my carb. Realised the old plastic tick over screw was seized solid. Is this s common fault. Looking at how little used the bike is I reckon the carb gas never been removed before I took oenership. Removed carb and tried to screw it out but the plastic piece just sheared off. I carefully drilled it out then ran a tap (or is it a dye) down it to clear the thread. I was going to replace it anyway with a dab products tick over screw. It threads in perfectly but the thread doesn't seem tight. I'm hoping I haven't damaged the delicate M5 thread but I was careful. I'm guessing i need to refit the spring to give it some tension. Is…

Probably my dumbest question yet, but big-bore two-stroke Beta Zero with short left-hand-side kick-starter doesn't make for easy firing up. 1) Are there longer kick start levers available? 2) If so, does it make them easier to start? Or do i just carry around a folding step ladder?

Morning all! ive had my 1998 Techno (lampkin edition if it makes any difference) for many years now, it’s used as a spare toy as I mainly ride enduro and it’s due a refresh as it’s been sat for a while i totally rebuilt the engine, water pump etc so that is all good, fan kicks in nicely, recently rebuilt forks with new seals and oil... however the brakes are always terrible, seemingly no matter what I do they are utter crap, plenty of pressure on front just doesn’t stop well and back had pressure and now it’s gone again. is it possible to put rev3 or newer brakes on? And just swap out the whole system? I also have a stripped thread on the s…

Hi all, Planning to do the fork seals on my 2019 Beta Evo 300 and have a few questions. Any help would be greatly appreciated! 1. Understand Beta switched to Sachs forks recently (2018 maybe?). Does this Youtube tutorial on Paioli forks still apply to the Sachs version? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSUkG6RshGQ 2. Read that people have had issues with the bottom bolt being tricky to undo and fasten without an impact driver. Does this bolt need to be undone to do the fork seals (left and right)? Looking at the parts diagram it would suggest it doesn't need to be loosened to take the fork apart? 3. The manual since switching to Sachs forks states 297g …

Is there a way to soften an Evo shock, 2016 4t? (I have the adjustment at full soft.) The manual lists an oil so a thinner oil may do the trick. But, I don't see a pressure valve. Can the oil be changed? I just put thinner oil in the forks at a 5 mm lower level and like the feel. At 152 pounds and a non aggressive riding style, I suspect softer is better.

'93 Beta Zero Gara. Now, bear in mind I'm otherwise a Yamaha puller-apart-er, but a Beta novice. Completely unfamiliar with Betas, and new to trials riding. I'm planning to pay-and-play with mine. Was riding it round our field, running fine, stopped, left it for a few minutes and tried to re-start it. Nada. Checked and filled with fuel. Nope. Eventually skinned all my knuckles changing the plug. Kicked it over with plug resting on crankcase before putting it back: no spark. What could the problem be? Coil? If so, anybody got a part number or know where I can get one in the UK or Europe? Otherwise what else could it be? And can anybody recommend a Beta fett…

My new to me beta 125 boggs like crazy on start up. It acts like the engine is not warmed up despite it running / idling for 5 mins. It revs fine stationary then when you try and ride off it boggs. It nearly dies it boggs so much. This goes on for another 5 minutes then it just clears and runs perfectly for the rest of the session. This happens every time I have ridden it. Air screw is 2.5 turns out. I notice on a cold start up, having the choke clicked on makes it rev far too high for a cold engine and I have to feather the choke without clicking it fully on to get it to run for the first minute. Then it idles ok. I have cleaned out the bowl and lower section of the carb…

Can anybody please advise? My lad's taken his Rev03 forks apart to repair a couple of scratches on the stanchions. Whilst doing this, he's concerned that the fork bushes may need replacing. What do people think? Thanks in advance.

Just getting to know my 1993 Gara, my first trials bike. Doesn't seem to take much to provoke the carb to start weeing fuel. Seller said they all do that if left with fuel tap on ... or idling ... or just after it's switched off ... or just after I turn the fuel tap on ... or until I turn the fuel tap off... Bike starts, idles and runs fine. This fuel dumping something I just get used to, or is it time for a carb service....?

On my beta evo 125 2012 one of my carb breather pipes goes vertically upwards and terminates near the fuel cap under a plastic shroud which houses electrics and the throttle cable. Should this be going in this direction or should it terminate near the swingarm like the other carb pipes. Or is this a breather pipe a d the others are overflow pipes. With the pipe running down to the carb it just seems like water could be drawn in when I wash it. Any ideas ? I've just had to strip the carb after washing the bike for the first time. Bike is new to me.

Just bought a 2012 125 beta evo. Took delivery of it yesterday. Fired it up in the garage and it ran sweetly. Was very pleased. Gave it a good wash yesterday to make it perfect. Tried starting it after wash and it just kept bogging when choke off. After a while it started to run ok. Thought it must have just been wet somewhere . Then today I fired it up again today. Same again. Starts with choke on but revs are very high with it on. With no choke it dies if you open throttle and just about idles with no throttle. Any ideas ? I've just put in new fuel and a new plug to rule them out. The original plug was very black. Am I going down the pulling carb apart route ? …

just opened up my new 03 beta as it was knocking with the intention of cleaning up the piston / head as reccomended else where on the site to find NO water in the radiator or engine.. i've literally had this 2 weeks from a respected dealer, I suspect that the radiator is crushed ( is it suppossed to have a crushed core and appear bent on the offside?) looking at the frame closely it looks like it has fallen very heavily on the frame and that has been bent back, what do you think or am I PARANOID!

Hi guys, Investigating my brake binding issue on my Rev 3 and spotted these tin covers on my front calliper, my rear calliper doesn’t have them. Are the tin covers fitted correctly, really necessary and what is there purpose?

Hi Guys my mudguard on my Rev 3 is shot, it’s ok and serving a purpose but ideal I would like a replacement. After searching I realise that it’s going to be a long shot getting a proper one, but I emailed beta uk anyways.... I did read that later models plastic can be fitted if you swap out air box, my question is what age range of plastics are interchangeable and what other parts are needed to make them fit?
