Hello, Seeking advice on barrel removal to change the base gasket to 1mm on my 2017 Evo. It appears to be a matter of removing the radiator, exhaust, frame connection, and sparkplug, undo barrel bolts and lift barrel with head still attached ?? Any advice from folks who have done this would be appreciated. Buck

I'm almost ready tp throw the whole system in the trash, lol. I have a 2016 Evo 300 4T, the rear brakes have always squealed and kinda sucked. I've read all the horror stories about bleeding them so I never really had any desire to deal with it, I did get some of the copper brake goo on the back of the pads and that kinda helped the super annoying squeak, they will lock up the rear wheel so good enough. Fast forward to a week ago I finally got rear pads, opened the top of the master cylinder and tried to gently pry the pucks apart in the caliper, one is seized, the other just oozed out some fluid. Nice, time for a rebuild kit. I took it all apart (act of desperation?), cl…

As Boris has stopped me riding, I decided to investigate the piston slap noise emanating from my 250 Evo. The bore is a bit scruffy but no serious problems. It will go to Langcourt for replating, honing and matching to a new piston. I'm just trying to identify the thickness of the base gasket that has just come off. It measures 0.5mm, but of course it has spent the last 4 years squashed under the barrel so it may be thinner than nominal. The only marking on it that gives a clue is a "40" printed in one place. Could this mean 40 thou ie 1.0mm? Unfortunately I didn't measure the piston height while stripping it so I don't know how close to spec it was before. Which gas…

Hi all. I’ve not long purchased a 2011 Beta evo 250 to start my trials career. But ive now noticed the oil in gearbox is milky.I’ve changed it a couple of times but keeps coming back so I’m thinking possible water pump seal.So ive purchased one.I know how to get to the seal but wondered what’s the easiest way to pull the old seal out.Am I able to drill a small pilot hole in it to put something in to pull it out or is there a easier way. Thanks in advance.

Hi When I last bought a new Beta (2005 Rev 3) it came with a lot of extra bits eg road going kit lights, speedo, indicators, horn, mirrors etc. I’m planning on getting a new Evo 4T are the extra bits lights etc still included or is it now a case of just a handbook and toolkit. Regards John.

My son recently bought a 2006 250cc REV 3 as his first bike. We came across the usual sticking clutch on which I carried out a poor fix (new plates probably required as a result). However, this helped but, after being stood for a couple of weeks, it is now impossible to put in gear without it stalling. He's now just dropped the oil, which was very milky, which lead us to think there's a leak from the coolant. Other posts suggest any coolant leak to the clutch will cause or make clutch drag worse. After draining the coolant and removing the pump cover, it's quite obvious the inner clutch case is absolutely shot. In fact, there are 2 small holes right through the case!…

Who can tell/show me what the lower steering bearing assembly actually looks like on a 2020 Evo? I have a factory triple to replace the stock triple and I have the correct bearing and a few other pieces and parts. I put the factory top clamp on the bike already and plan on installing the lower bearing on the factory lower and then completing the swap. When I had the triple out of the bike the lower steering bearing assembly did not look like the parts diagram in that there was no "F/FORK ALUMINIUM RING" below the bearing (#6) at least nothing that looked like the diagram. Also #7, the "OIL SEAL 34,60.39,84.2,62" was not discernible either. The photo shows what I have par…

Following the bike overheating at the end of the last comp, investigation led me to a very nice bodge job by the previous owner around a crack in the water pump housing filled from the inside! This has now given way resulting in the overheat. I have elected not to repeat the bodge but to carryout a full inner clutch casing change! Having released all of the bolts, the old casing appears to be catching on a rubber spacer on the lower front edge. The only way I can see of getting around this is that the bash plate needs to come off? Is this correct or am I missing something??? Also any other things I should be aware of / checking?? Rob

Went out on a rail trail riding with my wife on her CRF150f. Ambient temp about 7C. First real chilly ride. Huge clutch slip in 6th until the EVO’s gearbox warmed up. Normal after warmed up. Currently running 10W-30 Castrol Titanium Edge motor oil in gearbox. After we got back I measured case temp with IR thermometer. 46C. Her bike was much warmer at about 65C. Kinda surprised how cool the Beta was running. Not looking for any information just making observational notes. Time to try the 0W-20 in the gearbox and see how it feels in colder weather. Experiment time.? I’ll be sure to report if the transmission explodes.

Does anyone know how to get a nice join between the cut off old mudguard and the bosi part? Or does everyone just duct tape over it as I've just done? I've got the cut aligning really well apart from a small missing piece from earlier damage, but the center point of the old part sticks up around 5 or 6 mm and the whole rear edge is lose and easily lifted should anything snag on it. It is nice and flexible though, it should cause less issues than a patched up mudguard, once damaged around the rear fixings every little knock seems to be a problem regardless of the technique used to patch them up.

I dropped the oil out of my EVO 300 today and found this hanging on the magnet. It's about 0.2mm thick and 1.4mm wide. The inside edge is fairly sharp as if it's worn through perhaps, and there's a sharp edged crease on one side near the narrower end that looks like it might have been from going through a gear. I looked through the parts list for the gearbox, kick start and shift mechanism but couldn't see anything that looked obvious for it, there's a spacer washer on the main shaft 20x30x0.5 which is a possibility but this is much wider, thicker and a larger dia than the piece I have, there's a shim 15x25x0.8 in the clutch release mechanism, again seems…

Hi all stripped the clutch on my rev 3 250 measures the thickness of the plates and they are at 2.7mm thickness . And when new they are 2.8mm so I would have thought 0.1 mm wouldn't be too much to cause clutch slip . So I have changed the oil for a light 75 w gear oil by putaline so I am hoping this should cure the problem .

Got my bike in bits since I bought it as a botched but running machine (for 5 years!). When I bought it I drained the g/box oil and a small broken shim washer fell out. I suspect this was the #41 on the secondary shaft from the manual (I use the Evo 2010/11 manual which I have been told is relevant to the 2008 270 motor). I have a couple of questions. I am unsure of the direction of 1st gear on the secondary shaft (see photos - is it 1 or 2). Also I have a shim washer #4 on the primary shaft 20mm x 30mm x 0.5mm in the manual but mine measures 1.0mm thick?
