  1. Hi, we have this bike from new and it has been nothing but trouble, its had all the electrics changed before and has been running fine from oct 19 until today. my son rode it in a practice trials on saturday last week, all was fine, ive washed it, cleaned air filter, cleaned carb, and got it ready for next week, Ive started it and it ticks over fine but as soon as you open the throttle it dies, it kicks over and starts immediately and will tick over for ever. i've taken carb off and checked the jets again and put back on and tried it without air filter, it still does the same. Any ideas? thanks in advance. Wayne

  2. Hi all, I was hoping to get a bit of help as to why I can’t select 4th or 5th gear on my 2004 rev 3 250. Using 15w40 gearbox oil atm but I’m suspecting something more serious and having to strip the bottom end to find the solution. Is there anything obvious I should look for?

  3. Hello all, New to the forums here! My younger brother is just about to move onto a Beta 80 big wheel from a medium wheel bike. When I rode a Beta 300 I put Tech forks into it using the S3 triple clamps as an upgrade and I was wondering if you can use those same clamps in a big wheel 80? I have a feeling it will work but the offset may be different etc. There is more adjustment in the Techs than the old style 80 forks. Also means we can use a Braktec and a Morad front wheel. All of that should equate to a lighter package for him as he's quite small. Has anyone else got any experience? Cheers, Ollie

With a little bit of luck some may be able to point me in the correct direction. I have a 2000 rev 3 with the USD front forks. Being the only year Beta did the USD forks in the Rev 3 there is no information out there on them or parts. Although mine are working ok however they are a bit on the sad side of things and are sagging. All the replacement springs i have found so far say they fit Techno, Rev 3 and Evo but there is no information as to if it fits USD models. I know a few of the Technos had USD forks so does anyone know is they where the same as the Rev 3 and the spring's fit and are still available. Or if there is any other springs out there that …

Ok, so I'm tearing into my newly purchased 2000 Rev 3 forks (Paioli inverted) to replace the seals, and I find this part. I actually didn't even see it until later, so I didn't see it when it fell out of where ever it came from. Luckily I was taking a few pics of the process so I'm pretty sure it came from the right (non-brake) side, but not 100% sure. I'm thinking a piece that goes in the top cap? I found some instructions for replacing the seals on the Paioli USD forks, but it doesn't mention anything about any small pieces falling out so I wasn't even paying that close attention, so I'm a bit perplexed... Any ideas?

Hi so I got my 08 rev 3 250 today , couldn't view it so had it dilivery and soon kicking over it has dreaded main bearing noise rough rumble ? and some spanner monkey has been chewing the electrics for the kill switch and head light which has the main block connector missing ?. Now does any one know what it will cost to have it rebuilt as Im Going to get on the blower and see what the bike shop will do as it's not fit for use and the advert said it's been serviced and runs and rides great , so I need to find out what's cost will be so I can see if I can get money back to cover the costs . Thanks

Was thinking about buying 300 4t . Somone told me the carb is a b####d to get off and on, if this is the case a might have second thoughts. I usually clean the carb before each event.

Took the bike to the local shop to have the rear brake bleed, on picking it up they mentioned that it was a right pain to bleed and believed that the bar that goes in the master cylinder was to short.. Went out on the bike on Saturday and the rear brake was hit and miss, some times it worked then nothing, you could feel through the pedal like something was slipping... So before I buy one on ebay as they don't tell you the size of the bar, does anyone have one to measure on theirs? Mine is around 123mm Cheers Jamie

Was out last weekend and the bike was faultless till the last hour when she decided to just stop.. Got it hope and it started but with a clicking sound and kept cutting out, then she wouldn't start and had no spark. Took it apart and whoever fitted the kill switch was bodged in.. sorted all the wires and did some soldering and the spark is back, rebuilt and she started first time for 6 seconds and now won't start again.. I have a spark also.. What do I need to check?

  11. Hi all was wondering if its able to swap the 250 juh for a 270 jug , would the crank cases need adjusting for the rod to clear the crank case or is it a easy swap .

  12. With the lockdown here I thought it a perfect time to take the back end off the Evo and check and regrease all the bearings, linkages, ect. (I'll get the limp excuse in now - this is my first trials bike and the first time I've taken it apart to this extent...and initially I was just changing the fork seals but go carried away!) It was the putting it all back together that I cocked up: When refitting the dog bones I didn't realise the 'special bolt' had sheared it's head as I was tightening it until it was quite far into the frame... Not sure it's a Beta specific quirk but the positioning of the front dog bone mounts are not very accessibl…

  13. I've had a small squeak in the rear end about half way into the stroke for a few hours so went to work on the linkages yesterday. Checked all bolts - found a loose top mount. Squeak still there. Pulled the linkages apart and re-greased, 50 hours since last re-grease. Found one rear dogbone bush that's case hardening has broken up, but other than that all good. Reassembled everything. Squeak still there. Very nearly decided to just ignore it and assume it was an overflow hose or something rubbing, but resisted and kept hunting. Tightened the bash plate bolts. Still there. Checked the rear engine mount - bolt was considerably loose. Tighten that and sque…

I haven't looked at this issue yet, it just surfaced today so it could be an obvious fix. When I squeeze the front brake I find I squeeze a little and nothing really happens, then suddenly it goes "click" (no idea if it's audible, just what it feels like) and the brake comes on. From there on it's quite normal and works fine. Release the brake, squeeze again and same thing. Maybe sticky caliper pistons? Or master cylinder piston? Or in the pushrod or lever pivot maybe? Perhaps even the disk not floating properly? Anyone else experienced this and have any solutions before I start pulling things apart. On another note the back brake heated up on a long d…

Hi all finally got my self a rev 3 250 again it's a 2008 modle , what is the difference between the 07 and 08 , I did have a 2005 modle 5 years ago and wished I had not sold it , but I'm wondering how different the 08 is to the 05 and can some one remind me the oil mix ratio , if I remember it was 70/1 . And if there are any bugs to watch out for i do remember the clutch would drag antill it was warm . Any help is well appreciated.

  16. Just got hold of a secondhand long range tank and seat kit for my Beta Rev3 250 (2008), looks like it was removed from a bike and been sold separately as it had the brackets but not the bolt kit. Does anyone know where I can get an upper shock bolt and airbox bolt that has been drilled and tapped to receive the screws that hold the seat on? Ideally a part number for the filing kit etc. Obviously my other option is to get them drilled and tapped on a lathe (can't imagine drilling and tapping with shed tools will work). Thanks

  17. Hi all, The exhaust is so close to the carb, that one of the vent tubes has actually gotten partially melted because the tubing routes right over the exhaust pipe. I was lurking around trialssuperstore.com looks for ways to spend money, and found this: Anyone know if this would work for my 2000 Rev3 270 with Mikuni carb? I assume this is a relatively universal part, but you never know... https://trialssuperstore.com/products/dellorto-vent-90
