With the engine out I found I needed to remove the clutch. No holder of course. Inside the inner drum there are ribs with 5mm holes either side at the bottom. Quick drill into some scrap ply, 104.5mm pcd X 6, hole saw out the centre and some M5 bolts. Easy. I'd planned to just check the fit with this one, then make a steel version, but this worked perfectly.

I am having a terrible time with the rear brake of my son's bike. It was binding so I removed and clean the pistons, one was stuck solid. I then set about bleeding the system, I removed the master cylinder pushrod and used a crosshead to obtain full strokes. My problem is that it never stops producing air bubbles, I must have put a litre of fluid through. I've tried forcing fluid in the bleed nipple with a syringe until it fills the reservoir. There is still hardly any brake, I then tried to catch any surging bubbles with conventional bleeding from the rear pumping the pedal and it continues to produce air bubbles. I then took the master cylinder apart, the seals look fin…

How are the air intake grilles on an Evo supposed to be fixed? On both of my bikes they were stuck on with hot melt glue so I had assumed that was the factory method. But having just removed them in order to re-fix them properly, they look more like a bodged repair.

Are there any secrets to bleeding the rear brake on a Techo. The rear brake did not work so I pulled the rear caliper and disassembled. Everything looked OK except the sealing surfaces where the bleeder valve seats. I reconditioned them. After assembly, I have tried the "suck method"...vacuum at the bleeder valve and pump method...pump, open valve, close valve, repeat....both get some (not alot) fluid to flow but the brake is still not operative. I can see the pads move but there is no braking action. Any suggestions?????

I've recently bought a 270 Rev 3, 2005 I believe, it rides great and has plenty of power for a novice like myself ? But it seems to take a few good kicks to start, last time I was out on it we swapped a plug to get it going then it ran OK on the original one. Trouble is the plug was very black like its running rich, took the carb apart earlier and it looks like the float height has been set lower (to lean it out I'm guessing) It's only my 3rd time on a bike but a couple of times going down steep hills the engine stalled. Any thoughts on it?

Hi everyone, I was riding trails a while back when smoke started rising from the front of the engine near the forks. I’m not mechanically skilled, but a guy who was there reckoned I needed coolant. When I topped it up with coolant, hardly any went in, so I reckon that wasn’t it. Then it wouldn’t start. I cleaned the plug, but no luck. The manual asked for a NGK BR7ES plug, but when I removed the old plug, it’s a BP5ES. Plug discrepancy apart, does anyone have any idea what the smoke might have been, sand if it might be related to the engine not starting now? Thanks in advance

Hi all.Just looking for some advice.Ive been offered the chance to purchase what I’ve been told a 2012 beta evo 250 factory.its just had engine rebuild and stator rewound. The first question is during a test ride for an hour the cooling fan never stopped apart from first few mins of running.is this normal. The other question is the rear mudguard is black/red but the tank side covers are white which is the correct one.How would I make sure it is the year I’m told.Frame is black aswell.how much would it be worth. Thanks in advance.

Hi. Got a problem with the valve in my Evo fuel cap and it would help if I could dismantle it to sort out the problem. Has anyone ever pulled one apart eg removed plastic housing that holds the valve. Don’t want to go forcing it loose and end up knackering it.

Hi All, I'm now the owner of a (currently non functioning) 1997 Beta Techno. I'm working through the problems that i find, but there is a real cut and paste wiring job going on in there. Most of all i would like to get it back to standard and lose the spliced in nasties. i have a copy of the 1999 Techno manual I found online, but its such low resolution I can read any of what is written next to the wiring layouts on the diagram. If anyone could supply a better copy of a usable diagram, or point me in the right direction that would be great. Thanks All, Graham

Hi, only had the bike a few weeks was out riding and clutch stopped working... got home to find the master cylinder empty which now I know why the clutch lever was always wet. It was coming out the piston every time you pulled the lever, bought new seal kit spent hours trying to bleed and noticed oil dripping from the piston again so ended up banging new master cylinder on, seems to bleed up quick but it’s got clutch drag and can’t move out of first gear when the bikes on the floor ??♂️ I’ve tried reverse bleeding etc and can hear clutch plates moving when pulling in the lever, is this still trapped air or do I need to look elsewhere?

Hi guys Hoping you can help me out! I changed the oil in my 2016 evo factory yesterday, and as I was putting the sump back in I noticed some swarf poking out the sump. Using the magnet I fished out all I can, there was no sign of anymore but now I’m a bit unsure what to do! From my motocross days i’d Split the engine no questions asked, but strangely the gearbox feels absolutely fine, In fact I only put 500ml of oil in this time rather than 550 and it feels the best it’s ever been. It also didn’t miss a beat Sunday. I have no idea when the part broke but I’m reluctant to split the engine as I can’t find anything wrong with the bike! I’ve looked at the part…

Hi all, I'm hoping someone can help me with the process of bleeding the clutch on a 1997 Beta Techno 250. I have tried almost every conceivable way, back bleed vacuum bleed and even the traditional way of pumping master cylinder but all to no avail. I've even removed servo and filled void with fluid hoping that when I reconnected everything and pushed piston back it would force air out. I'm at the end of my tether guys please help. Thanks in advance ?

Okay, I couldn't really find a discussion thread on tires aside from the odd mention of tire brands or tubliss here and there, and since I have a Beta, I'm putting it here. If there's a better area for this type of post, I'll certainly head over there... I'm mostly curious as to people's thoughts on the different types of tire (tyre) systems. Not brands like Dunlops vs. IRC or whatever. I'm thinking about true tubeless vs. tubliss vs. tubes (light or heavyweight) I'm new to trials (but not new to trail bikes), so I'm really curious what people are running. I recently put Tubliss on my trail bike and absolutely I love it, and I'm tending tow…

Hi all- second post here. Im looking at upgrading my sons bike from a GasGas50Boy to a Beta 80. Im guessing this is how most kids go?? Would I be better looking for another brand, or the Beta is fine? The lad is just 8, only a little fella, has been riding his trials bike on and off for a year, and has quite a few years experience with his HuskyTC50. Thanks Ben
