Picked my 98 Techno up today after having new mains fitted. Had a quick chat with the mechanic about looking after the bike ,and he gave me 2 peices of advice 1- After drowning it ,always make sure you start it again within the hr ,to stop corrosion of the mains 2 - use a mix of 50:1 with semi-synthetic at all times Is the 50:1 mix a tad to rich ???? I`ve been running it at 70:1 ,and when he showed me the old mains ...it was frightening. Not to say that running 70:1 was the reason they failed ....but maybe a factor ??? anyone got any veiws. BTW - I also found out that its got 95 Techno footpeg brackets fitted, apparently they put the footpegs another inch further b…

My Rev-3 250 was delivered to me with an NGK BP5ES installed. I switched out to the Beta-specified Champion N7YC (couldn't find the N7YCC - Copper Core). What is everyone else running in the 250 / 270 REV-3? Is there a cross-reference to a Bosch part number?

Hi there, I would be grateful for any help in identifying the motor in my Rev3 125. It is a 2000 model, and was an early model which did not have the rev3 engine. I have been told variously it is a Gara engine or a Zero engine (maybe they are the same ?), but hopefully somebody with more knowledge of Beta's than me can help. You can see the brackets with the standard rev3 engine mounts. Pictures follow hopefully:- Many thanks Cubster

Reet, you're all gonna be fed up of me 'cos I've just bought a Rev-3 and as any regulars of the GasGas forum will tell you, I ask some dumb-ass questions. It's an extremely clean, little-used 2003 270 - so little used in fact that the engine's still slightly "tight" and it's closest that I'm going to get to a new bike in the forseeable future so I'm as happy as <insert reference to something very happy>. I'd like to get hold of a manual, if such a thing exists. Not because the bike needs any work at the moment but I always like to know the factory-recommended amount of gearbox oil, fork oil, premix ratios and the like. Does such a thing exist in downloadable form…

Following on from my previous post about the cooling system on my 98 Techno. I stripped the top end down and replaced all the gaskets and O rings and checked everything out ,like the waterpump was working properly. While I was at it ,I changed my clutch fluid (again) ,filled the cooling system with the correct amount of fluid and gave the bike a general clean up ready for a ride today, then stood back and admired my work for an hour or so. When I got to my practice area the bike started second kick and sounded great...then it started with a metal on metal grating noise after only 10 seconds.I quickly killed the engine and pondered on what I had done wrong the previous d…

I used to own a 1989 beta tr 34 125, when i was in the schoolboys. It was a bit of an old nail, but it did have one distinguishing feature, that it had a hydraulic clutch on it, and when i sold it, it came with a complete oversize petrol tank and seat unit, as used bu the factory riders in the ssdt. I sold it in 1996 to a bloke and either his youngest son or grandson in the cornwall / devon area, his older brother or uncle used to ride in the british championship expert class at that time, on either a gas gas or a beta. This may be some help?????????? I am wanting to try and track the bike down, and buy it back - i know its a bit of a wild shot, but has any one got an…

OK - my Rev-3 was delivered from previous owner with the clutch / tranny filled with ATF. I switched over to Torco MTF because Ron Commo suggested switching to some type of motorcycle transmission fluid. The Torco MTF seems thicker than ATF and my clutch definitely drags - a little even when its hot (I've bled the clutch, it also has a rebuilt clutch master cylinder on it...). Logic leads me to think that ATF would make the clutch drag less because its lighter or thinner than the MTF. Who uses what, which works better, should I switch back to ATF, if so, what brand?

Quite a long explanation..but bare with me. When I was out riding yesterday ,after about 15-20 mins my bike started to sound really rough .At first I thought it may have been that the fan wasnt running and the bike was overheating, but the fan was on. The engine was acting just like it does when the fan doesnt kick in on its own(which happens now and again) so I expected coolant to have come out the top of the expansion tank cap as it boiled over. But no coolant was visable and fan was running so I hit the kill button. after a few minutes ,waiting for it to cool ,I started the bike up ...sounded ok....flicked the fan blade...didnt move..so assumed it was cos it had coole…

Has any other Rev riders changed to the Hebo footpegs? I just switched out the stock pegs for new Hebos and they make a world of difference for me. The machine is easier to balance and I feel like I have more control / more places to stand. I thought about the CNC milled Scorpa pegs, but the Hebos are battle-tested and cheaper too.

Hi there, I just added a leaner main and pilot to my 04 beta rev 250. I haven't started teh bike yet, but I wanted to reset the idle and air screw to their default positions. The manual states nothing about how many turns out from fully closed are the default turns for either of these. To be honest, I don't even know *which* of the two screws is which! Is the big fat one in the center of the carb the Air screw? (and the one towards the rear of the bike the idle) or vice versa? Can anyone help me to determine what are the default settings so I at least have a solid baseline setting for the carb before I start her up with the new jets? many thanks, robert

Just wondering how far back the rev-3 engine goes back, is it almost the same as what was in the techno's, in ways such as side casings and water pump housing etc ? Thanks,
