OSET Electric Trials Bikes

  1. Started by dave horne,

I've been told today by Nige at TrialsUK, that Horsforth Club will be running a separate E class course at their Youth national on 18th September at Home Farm, Bradford, (if there's enough interest). If you've got a son or daughter with an Oset and you don't live too far away, please try your best to support this event. Well done Nige.

Had the pleasure of test riding the new E-tricks electric off road bikes yesterday up Cumbria, and have to say what great machines!! The build quality, bike set up and power are all excellent. Now dad has the option of electric!!! Click the link for a glimpse of what these incredible machines are capable of. Thanks to Martin from MHB motorcycles for a great day..

Just upgraded my eldest to a 16 and want to try and smooth out the power delivery on the old 12.5 for my youngest. Slower I set the speed the further the throttle has to be turned to bring the power in and the less sensitivity there is. What's the best way to improve. Kelly controller? Debating lipo for the weight savings when the batteries have had there day. Cheers lads.

Hi all, first of all, I apologize for my poor english, I'm french ;-) I've just bought a 20 R to my 8 year old son, He really enjoy it all day long, but it's really long to have to recharge every 45 mn of use for 2H, then I have tried to understand all what you write about LIPO...with my poor english and my very poor knowing in electric system. For resume, Is anyone could tell me the simple way (and safer) to do this upgrade, and the gain we'll have. Thanks

My friend has an electric 2017 OSET 24.0 RACE and is not very happy with the response of the bike. Did he make a bad purchase for a trial bike?

Wasn't sure where to put this but thought some of you might be interested. Plus I pledged so I'm hoping they reach their $100,000 goal so I can get one of those Free-Riders at a $1,500 discount. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1511813482/kuberg-free-rider

  8. I need to replace the encoder on a TXP‑24 due to false high temperature alarm. When replacing the encoder, one needs to calibrate it to the motor (Function 24) according to this youtube video by Oset: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_jGKsitIyMI&list=PLXQxIfDz8sKiBnStlqqGt1Pi45bGQdjlH&index=14 Oset do not sell this tool to end users unfortunately. This is a blocker for users located in remote places. Has anyone managed to DIY this step?

Today when we loaded up to go to a nearby park, I noticed that the black plastic cap was missing from the left fork tube on my older son's 16" 36v. I looked down in, and saw that the inside of the tube was threaded, but the fork seemed to be secured in the triple clamp. We had only ridden for 5 minutes when Owen crashed going through some mulch... "Daddy! My moto is broken!" Sure enough that fork tube had fallen out of the triple clamp and the wheel had spun around like the front wheel on a shopping cart. He was fine, and the bike was OK except for the fork. I discovered that on these RST forks, the right tube has a spring in it, but the left tube is only for stab…

As there are now multiple mini-electric bike manufacturers, this forum has been changed from being named OSET-specific to covering all mini electric bikes.

My son's 16.0 24v. has a lot of friction in the forward direction and even more friction in the other direction. The bike works well, but because of the extra friction the batteries are drained after half an hour. Has anyone opened the electric motor to replace the bearings ? Thanks.

I've been following trials central for a while but have only just joined the forums, which have been of great use over the past couple of years. We have been using Oset's, first a 12 inch and for the last 12 months a 16 inch 36 volt bike for my 5 year old. The Oset was second hand when we got it and we just decided to buy him a new bike now he's been competing for a few months. After looking at Oset and Gas Gas versions we opted for the Gas Gas, which was quite a bit cheaper at £900 (36 volt). I was sceptical as everybody else seems to favour the Oset! We have been running the Gas Gas for a few weeks now and all so far is well with it. If anybody else is thinking o…

My sons gasgas e12 only lasts about 20mins now, it's a year old and I'm guessing the batteries need re-newing. It's the 36v 16in model, I can get the same 3 batteries for £55 but would rather upgrade if possible, I've read the forum for the oset bikes does anyone know if the same can be done to the gasgas e12, obv I don't want to fry the motor. Also if I was to upgrade to lithium batteries, what's the best size, AH charger ect? Many thanks in advance

I know some people thinking of getting their young son an Oset as I have suggested it may be more suitable than a petrol engined bike.. They have no mechanical knowledge and may get problems from neigbours etc with noise from a petrol engined bike as well as starting difficulty and risk of burns. Anyone any general comments on Oset reliability or other factors that they should know What is run time on a charge How long do batteries last Do batteries loose capacity / running time after a year or two old Cheers

I find these forums a great source of valuable information, and wanted to add with my review of the first 6 months of my OSET knowledge. I have a girl (5yo) and a boy (8yo). They both started riding the OSET at 4 and 7. I struggled a little with the price but with apparent good resale value and good reviews I overcame this. I bought a new 36V in Mar this year. I live in town, a quiet street with a back yard. Had I bought a 2T gas motor this story would have lasted about a day, but the whirr of the tires is the only sound so no neighbour issues. Getting my kids started with a twist grip and huge torque was a major challenge, it will dump every kid on their behind and…
