OSET Electric Trials Bikes

  1. Started by Lefebvre,

My friend has an electric 2017 OSET 24.0 RACE and is not very happy with the response of the bike. Did he make a bad purchase for a trial bike?

I have an early Oset 16 for my boy and the throttle response is awfull when the batteries are fresh. He rode his first oset trial yesterday and all of the other kids bikes were smooth and progressive where his was just plain uncontrollable. I have been reading that the Kelly controller might be the best option but I have also been looking at other 36V E=bike controllers available at a fraction of the price. Any thoughts?

Hello, I have recently got an oset 16 for my lad and it struggles with grip on the rear tyre. I was just wondering what is the biggest tyre anyone has managed to fit to it? I am currently looking at a 3.5 inch wide tyre but I am woried it will catch on the chain. Apologies if this subject has already been covered but I searched through the forum and couldnt find anything.

Hi all. Firstly let me apologise if this is a dumb question. If at all possible, i would like a way of limiting the power of the 24r for trail riding. sort of a low power mode, Somewhere in the range of 250w - 500w to make it sort of legal to ride trails. I know its not going to be strictly legal in a de-tuned mode, But the idea behind it is, I would like to ride it in a "trials" way at weekend, but then have the ability to switch to a low power mode to limit the draw on the battery and improve range. I would have thought a 48v 23ah battery could potentially power and ebike for quite a fair few miles. The main question i am asking is this: can i do the above using the cur…

hi all just tried fitting a lanyard to my grandsons 2007 oset 16 bike. it needs one for youth trials and as it is an old bike it seems it is not a simple matter of fit and go. i have an apico lanyard here and after taking the seat off discovred 2 red wires coming from the switch that have been fitted to it as they are not standard. i have tried using the lanyard using the red wires and when the 2 red wires are joined the motor is fine, when separated it stops, all well and good, when i add in the lanyard the motor will only work when the lanyard magnet is disconected, ie as if the rider has fallen off, the reverse of what should happen? any ideas?…

good evening all. I have a query regarding brake rotors on the 24. The bike came with 180mm rotors F+R, But i have noticed one or two guys swapping them out for 203mm. Is there any real benefit to this? I understand why its done on mountain bikes, and i also understand the basic theory behind putting bigger rotors on cars and motor bikes. But is there any real benefit to be gained from installing them to the oset? All of the "proper" trials bikes i see, (sherco, beta, etc) all have tiny rear discs. In short, will i get a better bite from a 203 rear rotor over a 180? Thank you all in advance.

  10. Hi, new to the forum and trials, from more an Enduro / Green laning background. Bought a 2nd hand Pre 2015 Oset 16 36v for my boys Christmas present, seems to run ok, but the part of the harness highlighted in yellow in the image is broken and not connected. It looks like an in-line fuse to me, but also looks to be in a useless loop. Could someone let me know what it is please as I likely don't have time to order a wiring harness mail order before Christmas, but could repair it. Although as stated it runs, so don't know if it's part of something else, charging maybe? I've tried looking at the wiring diagrams online, but it doesn't appear clear, at least to me. …

Hi. I would like to change the original throttle from an Oset 20R 2017 to a Domino el- throttle. I do have the wiring chart for the Domino but not for the Oset original throttle. Does anyone have the wiring chart on the Oset original throttle they can share? The wiring have different colours, so I would need which colour goes where from the Domino to the Oset Throttle. Anyone done this modification and have any experience? Thanks

I just bought a used Oset 12.5R for son #2 (shhhh, Xmas present). Needs new ti res. The stock tires are 12x2.4 (64-203mm). There are some smokin' deals on ebay for tires labeled 12 1/2" x 2 1/4". Two tires and two tubes for $23 shipped. Will 12.5" tires fit and is this why the bike model is a 12.5?

  16. I know this thread might be a bit mis-categoriized, but I hope it doesn't get moved as this is the place to get to the audience I need. I started to build my daughter's 16" Oset up to a 20" about 6 months ago. Then I heard that Oset was coming out with the 20" so I decided to wait patiently for it. However, I just can't wait any more. She is getting too big and Oset doesn't have a firm date or price for the 20. I hate to do it as I am a huge fan of Oset, but my daughter is really getting into trials and this summer is the perfect opportunity for her to do a bunch of riding, but the 16 is now way too small and underpowered. So I need your help. I see a lot fo very smart …

Evening all. Has anyone had experience of servicing the 48v Oset motor? The bike is a 2016 20.0 racing. I have noticed the bearings getting noisy and from reading comments by a couple of the electric bike gurus on this forum it sounds as if there may be dirt/damage inside. While slowly rotating the back wheel with chain still attached there is quite noticeable points of increased resistance. I have seen that i can purchase bearings and brush set from Oset for quite a sensible price and currently deciding weather to strip the motor and give it a service or send it away to someone more familiar with the inner workings. Thank you all for your time. Mike.

  18. Good morning guys. a note for any adults or big kids considering an Oset for them self. I have followed the development of the Oset bike for some years now, mostly with a tear in my eye thinking "where were these when i was 8". However, after seeing videos of some guys who are obviously not 8-12 years old, doing some incredible stuff on them i figured i needed one. 3 months in and i am glad i did. Now, i am not a teenager, not even in my 20's, and i am nowhere near the stated weight limit so obviously the moment i stood on it the warranty was pretty much gone. But that really isn't an issue. these are so well built. The only modifications i have had to carry out are…

Hi, I just purchased the bike recently and have a ton of fun with it. Only nagging issue so far is a clunking noise. I would guess it's coming from the front fork, because as I was focusing on determining where it comes from, I could link to the time when going at speed over roots, as if the fork was quickly rebounding to the maximum extended length. It almost feels that there's no top-off springs, but rather like a metal bushing would hit a metal stopper lip in the tubes. I am running 10psi pressure and tried the rebound setting everywhere from min to max without any positive impact on the issue. Bike is in warranty, but dealer is almost 2hrs drive aw…
