Greetings from sunny Brisbane! My son in law and I have a number of TY175's in various stages of build and a single TY250 that we are planning to put a chair on. He is a competitive solo rider (B grade from memory) whilst I'm a complete trials novice but been riding solo and outfits all my life. We have been searching for ages around the net for info on building your own chair from scratch and have come up mostly blank. Apart from telling us we're crazy, can anyone point us at some decent information - either online or printed. There's very few chairs active here in Aus and not a lot of info. Cheers Nigel.

Does anybody have any experiance of what modern kids bikes are capable of pulling a chair, i've seen a couple of TY80 outfits in the dim and distant past but i've no idea of what a modern bike would be like with a chair attached. Thanks Giles

Hi Guys, I would just like to say a BIG_BIG thank-you to you guys who forced your outfits around the course at The Classic Trials Show. The spectators there (nothing to do with trials) absolutely loved it. and could not believe what they were watching. I do so hope that you guys enjoyed it just as much. And also putting us right on the prize money aspect. [it will be the same next year] Are you coming? Thanks again for putting on such a brilliant spectacle for us. PS, you have to contend with me riding in the class next year. Regards Charlie.

Just got back from a very dry DK Mansell. Round 3 of British Sidecar Championship. The event was back in the area it used to be run in over 10 years ago near Church Stretton and I thought it was a good move. Sections were sensible and hard enough to sort out the winners but nothing stupid or dangerous Experts Jon Tuck / Matt Sparkes Beta 15 Robin / Gill Morewood MRS Sherco 16 Robin / Sam Luscombe Montesa 28? Masters Seemond Stephens / ? Gas Gas 46? Kev Morley / Les Ashby Beta 54 Clubmen Phil Sparkes / Roger Tuck Beta 10 David Tuck / ? Montesa ? Chris Dakin / John Stanley Sherco 24?

As I mentioned in my previous post I am in the process of attaching an old trials sidecar to my even older Suzuki SP400 with a view to Green Lanes and possibly a long distance trial or two such as the Ilkley Classic Trial Before I start getting carried away with the MIG welder I need to know how the side car should be set up. As it is the sidecar lines up with the sidecar axle about 9 1/2 inches ahead of the bike's rear axle when there is a slight toe in. I understand this is about right, please let me know if I’m wrong. My biggest concern is lean out or not. I understand that most road outfits have a couple of degrees lean out. I am not sure if this is to overcome roa…

I would like to reach out and see if anyone lives in the area and would be willing to help make my dream come true and loan their bike for an afternoon.... Date: Friday 26th June Location: Frome, Sommerset I have attached the photo to hopefully pull on some heart strings out there! Please contact me on anitakinrade@hotmail.com Fing…

Does anybody know any news or results from the trial held in Newquay yesterday? Obviously I'm writing this as we didn't go. Now we are just riding for fun we didn't really want to travel 300+ miles each way! I do know that Lee Granby didn't go as he was ill.

Sad to hear of Donald's passing. He was one of the huge influences in getting me into sidecars many moons ago. A true Yorkshire gentleman! Sid & Dick's sidecars are just a good memory now. I hope you find a good passenger where ever you are now. RIP. Trev.

Hi Have just managed to break my collar bone falling off my outfit. Was on a bike high camber and the outfit flipped, and rolled down the hill. I was thrown off and the bike landed on me on it's first roll. Clearly I need to improve my technique! I have seen photos of people riding across a camber with the sidecar wheel off the ground. However. I have not been able to replicate this. Can anyone advise? Stu

I seem to have landed myself with the job of co-ordinating the offroad display area of the Festival of Sidecars! This year, we would like to have a good display and demos of all types of competition sidecars, and I am working on plans to allow members of the public to be able to try passengering (and possibly driving where drivers are willing to allow this). Currently it looks viable to have this for sidecarcross and enduro outfits on the motocross track, and I am hoping that there is enough land that would be suitable to set up a few trials sections. It also seems likely that club stands will be encouraged. We are still at the very early planning stages, so there are …
