Hey Guys, I have to start this thread by saying that i havent used the rear brake that much.. apart from on the long downhills where i have time to think "i'd best use the back brake"... in other words it not "natural" for me to use it yet. Some of the guys down the club where messing about doing wicked skids to spin the bike round 180 degs... They said to bang on the back brake to lock it.. then pivot the body aroung to start the slide. I couldnt get the brake to lock at all However hard i press the pedal - there isnt the power there to lock the tyre up. No i do weigh 18 stone so maybe this has an effect? Whats going wrong? Is the fact i dont use the back brake m…

Hi, again one of these about to buy a Montesa threads. There are two 2001 models I am looking at. Both are in decent condition and quite reasonably priced. I was just looking at the images of them and noticed this. Can you explain what is going on here, the rear tire looks like its is not straight? Is this a problem or just something I could easily straighten? Thanks!

Hello everyone. I just recently bought a 98/99 montesa 315R. but previous to me buying the bike it had been standing for a year. The clutch isnt dis-engaging fully so it is causing lots of drag and makes the bike jump when changing gears. I was told this could be due to condensation on the plates making them stick or the incorrect oil in the gearbox which the plates will absorb causing them to expand. I was advised to take the clutch to bits and clean the paper??? plates. I was wondering if you could advise me on the best way to clean the plates. what are the plates made of I thought they were cork? Thanks in advance Joe

Hello All, I brought my 4rt in for a routine valve adjustment to a shop I'd never used before. The mechanic is definitely competent, but totally unfamiliar with 4rt's. I left the manual for him to check out the specs, etc. When I picked up the bike, he said the exhaust valves were slightly tight, and he adjusted them accordingly. Tonight I got a chance to ride the bike. It starts easily and idles well, but when I whack the throttle open it just coughs and there is nothing. Is there potentially something he overlooked or a common error that he might have made? Thanks in advance for your help. Regards, Wardo

Doing this post for Dad as hes keen on getting one of the units but has no real clue which is the better. Any comments much appreciated Thanks Just
