Hi Am in Zimbabwe and have a Cota 311 which I use to ride in the hills. Could anyone tell me how much oil to put in the gearbox of the cota 311 and what the correct fuel/oil ration is? Also is there a workshop manual available off the web anywhere. Many Thanks Edward Byrne

Re-packing the mid box on my 315r, previous owner did not do a very good job. I managed to get the splooge soaked old packing out but my question is, do I repack with stainless steel wool or muffler packing? I read somewhere that originally the mid box was steel wool packed, any idea? Also, how tight is too tight when putting the new packing in? I have read other reports on TC but they only say "dont pack too tight", can someone give me a real world example of what would be too tight or too loose so I can gauge how much to put back in before re-rivetting and sealing. Thanks for any advise and help.

Does anyone have any idears on different makes of bike which there kickstart will fit a mont 310 pref alloy one ?? Also does anyone have any idears where i could get replacment kickstart gears / springs /ect ?

Hi Im changing my 4rt gearbox oil too ELF HTX ,in the manual it says 0.54 litre,which means i wont get 2 oil changes per bottle,has anyone just put 0.50 litre in ,or am i just being really tight ? Lewis

Can any Monty experts tell me if there's any tricks to removing the swingarm's pivot sleeeve (on a late 247)? The swingarm is out of the frame & the pivot shaft/bolt is also out. But when I try to remove the sleeve, which presumably should just slide out of the bushes, it wants to 'pick up' the bush & push it thro the other side (whatever side I try) & basically just seizes up. Has anyone had a similar problem & resolved it? Am I missing some basic 'trick'? Or is it just a case of using more force?

i had a go on a montesa 4rt yesterday, i wasn't very keen on the 4stroke idea but since ive been on that i would mind a 4stroke. Beautiful sound it makes though!!

Just rebuilt wheels for my 83 Mont 123 and was wondering if anybody knows of a suitable touch up paint for these gold rims. It is just to touch up a couple of tyre lever marks on the rim edge. How it happened I don't know as I was using rim protectors. Any ideas ?

Sorry to be a pain guys but does anyone know what the piston clearance should be? I have just managed to get a 12 thou feeler guage down the side if the skirts and i am guessing that the clearance should be 5 or 6 thou? Does that sound about right?

Cota 348. After rebuildinbg the engine the gears do not shift smoothly, so the engine is in pieces again. I want to set the end play on the drive, input shafts and the shifter shaft. Can anyone tell me what the end play tollerance is and if anyone has any advice then please share.

I urgently need a stator for a 99 315r, Im on holidays and spark has failed. Replaced coil and cdi, but still no luck. Any help greatly appreciated /

Have a 315r 2002 Had a water pump shaft seal go so took off clutch and clutch housing( not basket) to get to seal. Have put back on and bike is in gear but I cannot now select any gears. Any ideas as to what I have done? Have taken clutch out but cannot undo basket bolt as think you need a special tool. Should I take off other side around gear selecter ? Help please fraser

hi.does anybody recognise these symptoms of poor low revs running on a 1997 315 montesa.the bike will always start from cold not always so reliable from hot.idles ok but runs really poor on about quarter throttle.it sounds and feels as if the choke is on but it is not.anything above these revs seems fine but the silencer runs very hot after only 2 to 3 minutes running time.the carb has been removed and cleaned as has the silencer.im not too familiar with trials bikes as this is my first one and im now out of ideas.can anybody suggest any possible cure for this very annoying problem.
