Always the slow throttle, when it goes a bit wrong everything speeds up anyway so slow suits all occasions.

There is one variable here that you have all completely overlooked, the thing does not run on rails or in a grooved track. Also when ridden the handlebars are constantly being moved one way or the other so creating misalignment.
Thousands of Cubs have been built with all the above ideas and more incorporated in their design and are being used weekly winning everything form club trials to the Scottish Classic without any thought being given to wheel alignment.
This topic was started by someone requesting advice regarding chain clearance on a 4.00 tyre, It is time to cease worrying about things that do not matter and focus on enjoying the ride.

The Beta 200 either the Rev or Evo are superb bikes plenty of power and loads of grip.

Thanks for the replies, I expect a massive improvement when the footrests are relocated so the yoke thing might be unnecessary anyway.
I stand well over 6' tall so the standard Bult lean forward riding position does not suit.
-
My Model 124 is soon to be rebuilt to tidy things up and as a part of the rebuild I shall change the footrest brackets to enable Hebo's to be fitted.
What I would also like to do is move the handlebar mount position to somewhere over the steering stem instead of behind it as is standard on Bultaco, does anyone have any ideas as to how best achieve this?
-
Thank you for posting the photos of the revised footrests, very interesting.

Know just what you mean but it is the mag case that is particularly vulnerable to rock attack!!!
Will have a look if I have a picture showing the rock guards but I do not have a clue how to post pictures here on TC.

On the two Greeves trials bikes I have owned I made L brackets for each side the engine which from memory were secured to the front engine mount bolt, similar brackets were made for the rear but right now I cannot remember where they bolted to, then two strips of alloy bent into shape which went down and under each case (mag & clutch) the engine cradle protruded slightly below. This worked well protecting the cases. Make some cardboard templates first it will give you some idea.

Any one have any pictures of the Vesty bike please
-
Excellent show, poor auto jumble, bargains? well I did not see any but I was able to acquire all the bits I needed, many bikes to see and friends to talk to so overall yes another good show.

The fuel in frame bike in the 2012 Scottish 2 day was I believe a Scorpion not a DMW. The Scorpion was P65, the DMW came towards the end of the british bike period.
-
Does anyone please know if a clubfoot type silencer is a direct replacement (same brackets on frame and silencer) for the banana type rear silencer on a Bultaco Sherpa Model 124.
-
I do not remember seeing any with a white frame, maybe it has been refinished with a white frame as were the Bultacos of the period.
-
'If you do end up getting electronic and from the UK, i'd get one from Bultaco UK or Rex Caunt (same ignition I think) rather than Electrex.'
Is there a running, starting or fitting issue with the Electrex ignition? Just curious, I am looking to purchase a Bultaco electronic system quite soon.
-
Yes the Bulto shocks are open to damage when you drop it but generally they do not catch your legs even though they are mighty close behind them.
Must have been an expensive time for your dad if he replaced the shockers each week!
-
Quite a few bikes when built do not even have the same make of engine and frame so do not worry.

Might there be a Japanese connection, when a MotoGP team knocks on your door there must surely be a reason?
This is the frame maker who I understand produce frames for Beta & Montesa Honda http://www.verlicchi.it/eng/

I will do a full write up soon. Everyone kindly let me take lots of photos , some of things I wouldn't EVER have dreamt of .
Hope this helps
Thank you GG I look forward to reading it. I cannot see any problem with the rear shock location on the JTG, my Bultaco Sherpa twinshock (like thousands of others) has them mounted out in the fresh air right behind your legs without problem.
Do you know if JTG have the frames made locally or in Italy possibly by those that produce the frames for Beta.
-
Thank you for the update and insight into the factory set-up GG2249uk, how varied are the prototype bikes?
If I were in the market for a new bike I certainly would be taking a close look at the JTG.
-
As above, thank you for the info.

The best way to clean a spark plug is spray with carb cleaner then leave a while, that usually cures them or warm with a heat gun.
-
They do clean the plugs ok.............but the grit can stay in the plug trapped in the tapered cone between insulator & the metal body of the plug so do air line clean very carefully.
Better though to get it running right.
-
Other than at the SSDT I have not yet seen a Jotagas in action, how are they going and has anyone here on TC bought one.
