Kevin
Would like a copy of the manual. Working on a rebuild of my son's Whitehawk 80, for a grandson.

The BLM has informed us that due to the hot/dry conditions, the State of Colorado is under "Stage Two" fire restrictions.
In order to have the permit for Turkey Rock, ALL bikes must have SPARK ARRESTORS (NO EXCEPTIONS) and NO OPEN FIRES AND/OR CHARCOAL GRILLS. Gas BBQ grills with the small propane bottles will be okay.
Do not show up without a "spark arrestor" you will not be permitted to ride PERIOD. BLM staff will be at the event monitoring this requirement.
Will keep you updated if conditions change.

I saw that as well, looks like it just came of the showroom floor. Be interesting to see how much it goes for, bet his reserve is high. I'm sure its a lot more than I have to spend.

From your profile, I don't know were you live but if in the US then I would recomend riding some of the ITSA events. They offer three lines and the expert line should offer you the chalange you want.
Also wonder about your "drilled spokes"

We really don't have a "competition licenses", Trials at the club level only requires a club membership unless the club is sanctioned by the AMA, ITSA, or AHRMA. Then you just have to also be a member of the sanctioning body. ITSA dues are $35.00 per year, AHRMA 65.00, and really don't know the AMA dues as I am a life member and don't have to pay dues.
Also most clubs will allow non members to ride for a extra charge, so in fact you can ride with out any membership.
-
The last Ahrma event I paid $40 each day of the two day event. $80.00 for the weekend!!!
-
The one I have also has the seat base/side cover and tank in red. Used the stock TY seat with the Whitehawk seat base. Have also thought about a change to a 21" front wheel. Good luck with your hunt for a tire.
-
Dan, the engine # will tell you the date Yamaha made the engine, not much help in the year it became a Whitehawk. I have one of the very first ones Mick made and got it in 1981. Have the same problem finding a 250X20 tire, if you find a place to get them let me know.

Thanks for the info, with the lack of events this year I am considering other series to ride. May give TX a shot, unless we get a ITSA West series for 2012.
-
MV Do you ride the TX champ rounds? If so how meny vintage riders compete in the 6 round series?
-
-
First a big thank you to Ed & Evelyn for all the effort, time & money devoted to helping all of us that ride vintage trials. It makes no difference if you ride Ahrma, ITSA or your local trials we are all better off because of them.
As for whats next I agree with with DG, Trials by Trials riders for Trials riders. RIP Ahrma!
-
Cope, what kind of Vintage turn out do you get?
-
I may be old but far from busted up.

If you really think about it all of the discussions on this thread as well as the one on "Club Membership" comes down to one thing, the lack of entry level riders. The big difference between the US & UK trials is the lack of entry level events ie "Wobler" as they call them in the UK. We are lucky to have one active club in a State, it would be like having one trials club in the UK, one in France, one in Spain etc. each club only doing one Trials a month. This alone is a problem for the US in that it limits our exposure. As I posted on the club membership thread I went to an event back east and they had no Novice entries.
I wish I had the answer, but with the great distances we have to deal with I'm not sure there is an solution.
