  1. a black&decker workbench and a couple of g-clamps to clamp it on does the trick - saves going to the gym lifting it on and off as well.
  2. its great to see young blood coming into clubs and taking such an active roll - my motto is put in what you get out - if everyone did that we would have a thriving sport - its brilliant to see Rabie being given credit for his committment and hard work - you are a star Rabie.
  3. But God help you if you need to sort out your clutch!
  4. my bike has a lever to alter the timing while riding, wheels that you can take out without any tools with no spacers to loose, hinged mudguards to ease taking the wheels out, linkless monoshock type rear suspension, some of the best engineering detail ever produced on a production bike. It cruises at over 100mph and makes a fabulous noise. - it was built in 1949
  5. Eiger is right, the most important thing is to know your bike, its strengths, its limitations and how to look after it - the worst thing you can do is change bikes a week before the scottish.
  6. you will find that if you spend a bit of time and not much money making your shed secure it will be easier to get insurance - I have a ground anchor rigged up to padlock bikes to, lined the walls (up to 4ft) and door in 18mm plywood, fitted a simple (cheap) alarm to the door, and fitted extra hinges and hasps/locks. when you list this all to insurance companies they seem to accept that it is more of a 'garage' than a shed. and this makes a difference. Unfortunatly a lot of it still goes on your postcode which can be a bit unfair. Carol Nash does f+t insurance for garaged bikes not used on the road which can, i think, include insurance while on a trailer.
  7. My 2000 Sherco 250 has done three SSDTs and everything inbetween on two sparkplugs, one waterpump seal, and plenty of oil changes - not a bad result for a modern bike - I do however think that Montesa make the best quality bike.
  8. I fully agree that trials riding is one of the (if not THE) cheapest motorsports that you can do - however I do not agree with the licencing system in Scotland - my mate has two sons and he has just had to fork out
  9. forget the press pass - you will not even get into Lochaber. I know some nice gentlemen on white&orangeBMs with blue flashing lights who would just love to pull black sports cars doing 140mph going down Glencoe. now where did i put those photos................
  10. i'm giving up with this attachment lark
  11. I'm over-the-hill and I thoroughly enjoyed last year (apart from riding home from Pipers Burn)- the thing about the scottish is there is a good mix of sections so you will 5 some but you will also clean some; most are in the middle somewhere. scottish sections tend to be quite long so stamina is an advantage. and get as fit as you can - the fitter you are the more you will enjoy it. If you can, try to get up to spectate.
  12. Is it ok applying for a licence if you dont live in England? - if so I am tempted to apply for one (as I am a member of Conset club but live in Scotland) - our very own SACU charge
  13. at the beginning of last week entries were in the 360s - but i believe that, in true trials rider fashion, a lot have been hanging back to the last minute, I hear our secretary has had her e-mail choked up with emailed entries - when she sorts it all out we'll let you know the score. - one things certain - there will be a ballot. :madsanta: cool smilies Andy ps. I think the girls in the office would prefer a couple of bottles of wine rather than a malt.

vicx - how do you get the www. button at the bottom of your message ?
  15. BigJohn - another two new Shercos? - I assume that the old ones ran out of petrol - you do know that you can fill the tanks - you dont need to buy a new bike. if you've got a problem getting rid of money I could do with some!!!!
