  1. We never did find out if you managed to find a yamaha gauge Perce do you still need one?
  2. you also get some real finds yamaha 2WD must be worth
  3. A mate of mine hired a helicopter between 4 of them and flew to the IOM during TT week - it was cheaper than the IOM Steam make-a-Packet Co ! if you just want to go and watch the TT/MGP etc its worth looking at chartering a light aircraft - it really is cheaper. the companies (and a lot of individuals) who live there do so for a very good reason - the money they save from the taxman more than pays for their ferry bills!!
  4. i know, i didnt bother as i naively thought that they would be published on the web somewhere i know i did crap (nearly 15 x 5s at last count ) i just like to see how everyone else did.
  5. Are they available on-line anywhere - (or is that a touchy subject)
  6. Sundays GP was fantastic television - (if you must be stuck in the house on a Sunday rather than riding your bike) Capirossi was awsome and left Rossi standing - its good to see a Ducati win but the best racing was the Rossi/Pedrossa battle - it was real racing with both bikes going sideways into corners ath 150mph so close that they looked as if they were touching. - the Doctor was having to work for his second spot went out on the MTB after - it seemed a bit slow
  7. 50 years ago the same applied to the rough copies of british bikes coming from a little country called Japan. the British bike industry claimed that they would never catch-on and kept producing 3 speed Bantams and leaking Nortons - the rest is history.
  8. Might be otherwise engaged on that day already thinking of a good excuse not to do it -the list so far includes knackered knees considerable age no 4RT to ride cant be ar**d training only ridden one trial since May would break my vow 'never to do this again' against the 'reasons to do it' list its the best one day trial in the world the feeling you get riding up that hill to the finish All the SSDT
  9. I got a new mountain bike a couple of weeks ago - just been out on it - it was great. (Giant Trance if anyones interested)
  10. i am only offering my humble opinion - if we cant use this forum to do that then what hope have we ? if the only way to change things is from within what does that tell you about the system? I have ridden trials for 30 years, am well over 40 but get no enjoyment out of riding 'b' sections - the masters idea is perfect for me and also encourages youngsters to try something more difficult - all i am saying is that IMHO it is a good idea. As far as getting elected onto the trials committee goes i feel that as i already give up half my life for the sport that the remaining time i have could be better spent I have always said that you should put into the sport what you get out - there are many riders out there who could join the trials committee and do their bit.
  11. Ahh that might explain why I had to drive to the Borders with a jerrycan of Diesel tonight to get him home
  12. cant wait Kev. Its one of the best days out on a bike and will be even better with a masters class for us 'overthehill' riders that still want a challenge. Lochaber club should be congratulated on the 'masters' idea - they have proved it can work. In my view the SACU should take a long hard look at their 'clubman' championship which is doing nothing to bring on riders in Scotland - How about running the clubman championship on a masters route? Now Kev - If I fit SPD's to the Mont will it help my score? see you all up there
  13. this must be worthy of Bigjohns collection - just see Andy at Berwick
  14. I know its not got an engine (well i dont think it has anyway) but the downhill Honda bikes at the Fort this weekend were awsome examples of engineering.- the alloy frames were works of art and the 'gearbox' at the front was typical Honda. - when they do something they do it right.
  15. saw how it should be done at the Fort on Saturday - (in the rain)
  16. John - I like to think that it was put on in the factory - just like Dougies - dont rub it off now - i'll sign it if you want.
  17. you can have mine in exchange for an extra hour at the Scott
  18. I must say that i was converted at the ssdt Caroline loaned me a brand new 4RT for the week - I had never been on one before but i was impressed with their consistency - they just are unstallable - they are totally opposite to what i expected, and brilliant on the moors and tracks - now i have to save up my pennies to buy one a BIG thank you to all at Sandifords.
  19. Remember to fit your bike with a rear facing number plate or you will NOT get through scruitineering. - this includes non UK registered bikes The importers have a very nifty FREE plate bracket for every entrant so there is no excuse, - just see them on Sunday morning. Each importer is supporting a charity so if you make a small donation in exchange for your bracket you will be helping a good cause. See you all up there. Mark
  20. no comment on Miller parts. however they can make levers that bend rather than break - its just that you need more expensive alloys - if you run modern bikes try these.levers also dont fully tighten the clamps so that they can turn on the bars when they are hit - not too loose though!
  21. There is a story to WD's section Myself and Willy were heading to Fort William for a meeting and we had a bit of time to spare - we went over the ferry to look at finding some extra sections between GlenUig and Salen - all of a sudden Willy swerves over the road jumps out of the car and fights his way through bushes. He came out with that mischievous grin of his, having found some cracking sections just by the roadside. We went for a further look and ended up going to the meeting with wet shoes and bits of gorse bush sticking out of our hair. - that was less than a week before he died. A squad of us went back a couple of weeks ago and cleaned them out - typical WD sections - put it this way they will not be easy They overlook one of the most beautiful spots in Scotland and are only a few hundred yards from one of the most famous sections in ssdt history, devils staircase. They should be a fitting tribute. as for Flemmings Falls - if you want a clue, you will come out the top shaken.
  22. couldnt agree more Techno - great day out - perfect mixture of sections for the 'masters' - bit of a mistake persuading Perce to change from 'A' to Masters though; cos he kicked ass and beat us all scottie was awsome to watch on the A route. well done Lochaber, another great trial roll on May and hope the weather warms up
