  1. is this why us scots are not allowed to get an ACU registration card - if so i'll pay for the taxi across the border myself it would be worth it considering the money i'd save
  2. your right of course - if the reason that we all get a handbook is to officially cover 4rses then they are wasting their time. However if the reason is to keep riders informed on the current regulations and requirements of the sport then they succeed. In scotland we are still waiting for a handbook and to my knowledge we dont get the choice of a cd. - if we did could this save the SACU
  3. i wonder if it got stopped by my spam filter?
  4. my TC supporter status ran out without me realising and I lost some of my stored messages - I know that some people got reminders but I didnt - are reminders sent automatically and if not are you are loosing out on resubscriptions.??
  5. Sorry Craig but its not being run this year. a few obstacles but they all involved time and effort to resolve; something which the club is lacking at the moment.
  6. its easy seeing who is'nt riding this year - never mind - I'll let them all know that it was your idea to put the BOG back in on Saturday Ishy. what i meant to say was "you are assuming that the thursday run includes Fersit "
  7. don't worry - due to you guys the estate was well pleased - its just the erosion on the top path that means we may not get to the sections. back this year for more??
  8. two points the sections at Rannoch are miles away from the station and the sections are pretty straightforward stuff anyway. however if we get to use the sections at Corrour old lodge this year they are a bit better and about 3 miles from Corrour station - a much nicer walk to the head of loch ossian and up the old 'road to the isles' path. however a word of warning - depending on the estate, we sometimes have to use lower down sections which are pretty flat river sections and not that exciting. we will be able to tell you nearer the time though. secondly, (and here's one to get the regulars talking) you are assuming that the thursday run finishes at Fersit
  9. to say he knows every road up there is not quite right - he's certainly been over most of them - in both directions! if you are looking for maps ;last years are still on the ssdt website under downloads / 2007 event and each map is listed under 'monday route' etc but 2008 routes WILL BE DIFFERENT - however it will point you in the right direction try thE link below linky thing
  10. in ten years time we'll all be riding chinese bikes wondering what we did before they came onto the scene. 50 years ago the japanese started copying british bikes and everyone laughed at their overweight poorly finished attempts - the rest is history. i for one hope Xispa prove themselves at the scottish - its a tough baptism - look what happened to the 4t sherco when they tried
  11. its coming back to me - 30 years is a long time. mine snapped in half while practicing one saturday - i took it to Jimmy McFs farm chucked the two bits on the ground and jimmy welded it up using a bit of a combine harvester as a gusset - never steered right after that - or that was my excuse !! saying that, the 348s were better than the 349s -at least when the 348s stayed in gear they were quite nice to ride (the term 'nice' is all relative - were talking abut Ossas and bultacos here)
  12. 2/4 - cant remember you ever having a 348 although it was a long time ago !! the one i got from JMcC snapped in half - it was quite exciting as the throttle cable stretched and sent it onto full chat! - after that i bought a bulto which used to run backwards ! - oh the spanish knew how to make you suffer Boofont - on the subject of observing - if you have a bike, although we will try to give you sections in the hill, there may be occasions that you have to do roadside or even other marshaling duties eg man the car park. but don't worry you will get a good variety - did HL tell you that you sometimes have to get up at 5.30? or did she forget that bit
  13. Yes - and if you need any bike gear (road) its the place to get it - if you shop around you can get some real bargains. - trouble is you end up buying loads of stuff just because its cheap ! and Steve is brilliant at these displays!
  14. depends how abusive you are to an observer - lighthearted banter - ok cheeky backchat - warning sweary word - thrown over the hedge followed by your bike sweary 'f' words and questioning parentage of observer - thrown over the hedge and bike seized and stripped down for spares for the boys physical violence - bike seized stripped down, and you hung, drawn and quartered - we still remember 1305 up here.
  15. but psychologically you will be in knackered Gizza5 - especially monday morning watching those lucky guys riding into the sunshine while you press the button on the BMW and trundle off to look for the next coffee shop Us You
  16. BigJohn is the man - he will also tell you the registration number, the first owner and how many times it has done the scottish
  17. You'll be able to ask the guys when they emerge on Saturday afternoon! I've just realised that Ishy is not even riding this year - thats why he suggested the BOG - i hope for your sake Ishy that you're on the other side of the Atlantic on Saturday afternoon
  18. he was Swiss and I towed him 20 miles round Ossian and back to Roybridge - the mont was hot that day!! Ishy - good idea about the leanachan bog - i'd forgotten about that if they go through it on Monday morning it would wake them up and it would be in prime condition for returning on Sat afternoon.
  19. millers racing castor based oil Never use this in a 4stoke engine that has been run on standard oils - it dont mix
  20. Yeh - i remember a story of a minibus that used to take hairy ar
  21. from memory Toni was the only rider with a score under 100 - if we made it that hard today there would be a riot
  22. anyone know where the tweed valley Bamburgh trial is on sunday - if i go to Bamburgh will it be signposted?
  23. The organisation is outstanding, the route flagging a feat in itself, the sections devised by sadistic yorkshiremen but well thought out and marked, even the spectator control and car parking well controlled; quite simply it must rank as one of the greatest sporting events organised by volunteers giving up their own time and money for the love of the sport.
  24. It started off well; The day started off with perfect weather and the first off was Leigh following No1 away a few seconds after 9am, We piled into the team van and rushed off to the first petrol check to make the first switch. However after a frantic run around the hill looking for petrol check 1 (along with about two dozen vans causing chaos in the tight Yorkshire lanes) we eventually found it about a mile away from last years location. Leigh came in on time even after loosing 10 mins throwing his chain a couple of times, and Grant sped off.
