    08 - 09 Diffrences

Hi all, Can any tell me the differences (or improvements) between the 08 and the 09 250/290's? Best of balance. Neo

    Chains

Hi Cope, I guess what I haven't explained is my real need to use the halflink. To improve the geometry (for me) I want to have the rear wheel as far forward on the swing arm as possible. And as the chain stretches I'd like to remove a SINGLE link to shorten the chain (without a halflink I have to remove two links to shorten the chain). The only way way I to do this easily is to have 2 Splitlinks, one Roller link and one Halflink to hand. I have been informed by TrialsBits that their links are the Regina EBORO type (but not gold coloured) with a pin diameter of 5.15mm. Which I estimate would fit the EBXL too. Although the plate thickness is at bit thicker (so a bit less clearance at the front sprocket) And gasgasboi I'd love a Renthal....if they did a halflink??? Anyway it will be interesting to see what comes from the Sherco importer here. Best of balance. Neo

Just to clarify....the 520 135 EBXL is a Regina, not an IRIS....sorry about any confusion caused. So all Regina experts come forth Best of balance. Neo

    Chains

Hi All, Has anyone got an update on this? I've recently purchased two 520 135 EBXL chains from a supplier here in Australia. But I had to take one back because he was unable to supply any Half Links for these chains. The importer, say they will import these Links if we can give them a part number for the Half Link....Does anyone know what this part number is? I've check both my two 2006 Sherco Trials Bikes last night. And both have Regina chains (one with a Half Links) so I now know that Regina supply these to Sherco. And both Chains have a plate thickness (1.6mm) which is unique to the 135 EBXL. Any information would be appreciated? Best of balance. Neo

    Red Frame Gasser

Scratches on an 09 Gas Gas!!! It's at times like this that you realise just how good looking frame protectors are. Hey JSP...can you be specific about which Hammerite spray you used? Best of balance. Neo

    4t Update Please

OK I'm better informed now....That new frame looks great and combining it with a fuel injected, low profile, 4 stroke. And it all weighs only 67.5Kgs....sounds like a dream...and almost too good to be true . The Beta Evo seems to be in the lime light at the moment but it looks like the 4T Gassa will p*** all over it. Anyone else have more news on this great bike??? Best of balance. Neo
  11. That's 12.5 Stone or 80Kgs.....this may shock you....but you're a lot heavier than me Best of balance. Neo

    4t Update Please

Nope. I'm not stevie wonder but I do wonder about GasGas...buying a 4T and seeing how slowing they are progressing lately. I admit I've not seen a new GasGas frame in the flesh but it looks almost identical to the old ones in the pics. What's new about it? I read in another post that the side vale engine may or may not be use in the production version...something to do with overheating. So does anyone know for sure if that side vale engine will be the one? Cope, I guess your right....just have to wait even longer...again. Best of balance. Neo

    4t Update Please

    Sherco Clutch

Good-on-ya Cope I've been running my clutch like that for almost 2 years now...and I love it!! ...did you get the idea from me? But I'd still recommend the Castrol Edge Sports to complete the setup....less squeal, smoother action.....normal only "cold drags" when it really need a change. BTW...I've noticed that when the gearbox oil is changed for another type....It takes a week or so before the oil really soaks into the plates....and show it's character. Best of balance. Neo

  17. Any 290 of any year would carry an Elephant .....don't concern yourself with this. Just go out a test ride one. If your a new rider the power will scare the crap out of you on the rocks Best of balance. Neo
  18. Just an update on this......And just to let you know that you guys are my HEROS!!! There was no gearbox leak after all....it was Two stroke oil residue from petrol dripping out of the vents on the Keihin. Anyway along the way I did a few jobs that I should have done months ago. Cleaned and polished the bash plate and put 3 tubes off of he Keihin. I also do the Fuel Valve Standpipe Modification (Sherco Mod suposively for 03/04 bikes) which has cured a lean running problem I had for some time. Long story short my bike has never run so good....It's like a New BIKE!!! So I bow before you ... yea great ones Next time your passing through Sydney your more than welcome to ride my bike at my place....In between drinks that is.. Best of balance. Neo
  19. Awsome reply Cope. But where do I buy that floroescent dye from?...does it have a specific name I can search the net for? Best of balance. Neo
  20. Hi All, I've noticed a seepage of oil coming from the central gearbox gasket and I want to replace it. I've done just about everything on a bike before except split a gearbox, so I want to make sure I get it right and I'd like to do this as efficiently as possible. I've read the "Sherco Engine Teardown and Assembly Manual" but I'd also like advice from those who know.... So for those who have done this on a Sherco before can you please give me you opinion on the following:- 1. Do have any tips that will make the splitting easier? 2. After removing the head, is it possible to just work from one side of the engine (removing the cover from that side). while leaving every thing still bottled on, on the other side ?....e.g. Can I remove the clutch side case while leaving the generator flywheel and drive sprocket still on, on the other side?...or would it be simpler the other way around? 3. When fitting the new gasket is it better to use some form of gasket seal (if so, which one)?....or better to do without a replacement gasket and use one of those "Instant Gasket" products? 4. What other seals, springs, shims and bearing should I replace while the case is open? 5. Am I wasting my time...is it this far too hard for a mere mortal and should I pass it onto a someone that's done it before? As much detail as you can spare the time for would be appreciate. Many thanks for your help. Best of balance. Neo
  21. This is a great Joke.....sorry Addict but I've read it before I plan NEVER to retire. And if never get good engough to spend all my, so called, "retrement days" giving public Trials displays. Then I'll just ride my bike in public with a clown suit on and make an ass of myself, just for laughs. ....It's bound to make a bob or two Best of balance. Neo

    Beta Evo 2009

All that Link-less talk, for all those years and now Beta goes back to the old dog-an-bone Looks like that frame and suspension will be cheaper to produce, lighter up high and lighter over all. Which can't be bad and must make the EVO handle very differently to the way the Rev3 did. I could love one if only they had a 2T with a Phurking RH kick-start ..... Oh and I hope they've given that Mikuni the elbow too. All in all some big changes and a brave move by Beta Best of balance. Neo
  23. Sorry copemech, These wear out like dog ****..... I wouldn't buy a second pair, even if they were free. Best of balance. Neo
  24. Hi worldtrialchamp My notes from past posts..... --------------------><-------------------- Jetted Sherco125 - 38/125 Standard Needle Howard Wallace I`m running a KeiHin with 38 pilot, 110 main, JJH Needle. The 125 + 200 have a different crankcase casting, with a shorter length where the reed block mounts. This makes it a bit tighter, and the float bowl drain hex needs a chamfer to clear the top of the gearbox , also need a hose from carb to airbox about 50 mm long. I use the radiator hose off a car with the right diameters. It`s a bit of work to fit up, but the performance gains are well worth it. Cheers, ShercoH 45/118 apparently stock unleaded fuel. Cheers guys, fitted the b*stard last night. Haven't got my hands on jets yet, running standard 45/125 jets, JJH needle, clip in the middle position. Air screw half a turn out and its near right, any further out and it just bogs down when you whack the throttle open from tickover. --------------------><-------------------- Hope this lot helps Best of balance.
